Any news on the next season? I need to choose whether I want to buy it or not (probably not, the weather here is gonna be hot enough that I won't want to add the laptop heat as well).

Nothing at all yet, no teaser reveals or trailers from Bungie. Expect we'll see something in tomorrow's This Week at Bungie, a season name reveal at least. Maybe a trailer then. But they might leave it as late as next Monday or Tuesday for a trailer and the official Season info page.
There will be a new dungeon during this season but only it you bought the Deluxe version of Witch Queen (a strange move to lock it behind that imo)
We'll get either Arc or Solar 3.0, speculation is mostly likely Solar but also uncomfirmed atm.

Can somebody give me a synopsis on Season of the Risen? Checked out after week 3/4, after Saladin's story ended. I did load back into the Throne World a few weeks ago to see a massive Pyramid in the sky. Had a few minutes last night and saw said Pyramid seemed to be destroyed, but was expecting some final background info in the HELM.

Summary:
- Mars came back and Savathun's ship was there, we went in hot and Caitl's Cabal fired on us possibly as they're trying to claim Mars for the Cabal. We discover hive have the light, Ikora gives us synaptic spear.
- Zavala and Caitl have a meeting in the tower, she's angry at us taking out so many troops. They agree to a truce and to work together to deal with lucent hive, who have started appearing outside the Throne world and Guardians are going missing
- Caitl explains the synaptic spear is based on the Cabal's light supression tech that nearly killed Zavala a few seasons ago/Ghaul used in the original D2 story
- Idea is to force Hive Guardian lieutenants into psion mindscapes to destroy their belief in savathun and take their light. Psions then capture and investigate the minds of the Hive to discover their plans.
- Week 1 reveals Hive are stealing the light from Guardians but don't know what for
- Week 2 we find they're stockpiling the light and trying to "cleanse" it. Crow is very uncomfotable with the mind invasions and the fact that without psions keeping them alive in tanks after the mindscape, they'd die. Zavala says he's assured it's painless but Crow is unmoved. He feltpain when Savathun was in his mind and he has sympathy due to this. Saladin tells a story about how he once showed mercy to an enemy and it bit him in the ass and it hurt their enemy's victims.
- Week 3 not a lot happened but we get some background on how Cabal will fight the Hive to the last man because of the Hive destroying their homeworld
- Week 4 we find the Hive are trying to manifest the throne world on the moon as part of an invasion plan. We stop the ritual but Crow is absent. We come back to the HELM and find that Crow tried to shut down the mind invasions and accidentally kills Caitl's top Psion. Caitl is pissed and demand's Crow's life. Zavala almost does something stupid but Saladin steps in and offers his life instead, so Caitl has him serve her War Council. He fights like crazy as part of the Cabal, gets promoted etc. He leaves a message for Crow that's almost comforting and Crow seems to take the lessons on board.
That's about it. I think the Vox Obscura plot comes into it as well, as it looks like the trailer follows on from the Glykon stuff too, with Calus attempting to commune with the Darkness and disappearing; the Leviathan looks similar to the Glykon and the Vox Obscura plot is hinting that Calus is behind the assassination attempts and the messages to the Cabal defectors - Myelin has a great vid on that: youtu.be/lkm89g-tj88

Also if anyone wants to do some quick exotic farming before reset, the legend LS today is a very quick run with the right build. 90 seconds for a 1/5 chance of an exotic if you kill all the champs: streamable.com/fk3wci

Don't forget to claim Engram rewards from vendors (Xur excluded) before seasonal reset as they'll be lost BTW.
You can keep them in your inventory though - I've got 10 trials engrams in each char's inventory to pull to get the new armour pieces and guns.

New season looks a bit disappointing. I didn't care much for either the Leviathan or Nightmares, so to have both is a letdown. And besides, it looks like the new Nightmare Containment activity won't be limited to season pass owners, only the weekly story missions?
Not sure, I might just get it, but I'm more likely to stick to the free track again and keep the silver for the next time. I don't think I'd have the time to grind out the entire 100 ranks anyway. I stopped to around 62 this season.

Looks great to me. Could be the case that there's an actual separate mission stuff that's SP exclusive. New Dungeon on Friday as well if you bought the deluxe (which I did ) I'm usually at rank 100 by the end of week 3 or so tbh. I hit nearly 300 this season. Just doing the weeklies each week probably gets you close to 100.

Well, I really haven't been playing all that much after rinsing Witch Queen, what with Elden Ring and then moving towns for a new job. Still, I'm settled down at this point, and no more Souls to distract me, so maybe I'll grind a few more bounties this time.
Even if this GTX 1650 laptop barely qualifies as gaming capable nowadays, it does get me to mostly 60fps... even if 720p and low details. So it's not too shabby. If I had to play this at 30fps or less, I wouldn't even bother. Good thing I didn't go for integrated graphics.

Goes to hand in quest. Nope, you can only hold one key at a time... Classic bungo!
Seems OK so far anyway. I'm liking the dip in/dip out aspect of containment, but hopefully there's a bit more meat to the season.

If I had to play this at 30fps or less, I wouldn't even bother. Good thing I didn't go for integrated graphics. Maybe I spoke too quickly. The new Leviathan area, with the public event and all the particle effects, is pretty damn heavy. A bit like the Wellspring, admittedly. I can handle 40-45fps, I guess... but the laptop getting noticeably hot around the WASD keys and palm rest area is more annoying. Unfortunately the hot weather doesn't help. The GTX doesn't seem to go above 70 degrees, luckily, so it doesn't throttle. But maybe I'll stick to more tranquil areas and activities for the most part.

Sunset guns that you have to grind for again are a load of bollocks. Not sure if I can be bothered going for another accurised/rampage/subsistence austringer for PVE. Just love the look of it though, so I'll probably focus all of my engrams on that...

Rampage is kinda crap in PvE these days anyway. At least in harder content. The sunsetting was clearly silly at this point though, should have just got rid of the problematic guns like mountaintop and revoker. That said, they'd probably still be doing reissues with new perks even now.
Warlock Solar 3.0 is very underwhelming. The equivalents of bottom/mid tree are both significantly worse and top tree was only worth using in PvP and is also kinda worse because of the new air accuracy stuff.

Yeah, I don't really do much high end content. Just want something to chew through red bars in regular content and that'll do me nicely. (plus I need seasonal weapon kills for the title, which is quite a cool one)
Haven't really dug into solar 3.0 too much apart from slotting everything that looked vaguely interesting at the start of the first mission. Infinite melees are no longer a thing for hunters it seems (used to love middle tree + Ophidia Spathe)

Frenzy is the top tier damage perk these days. Faster reloads and more damage for free basically. Damage perks that don't require kills are the way to go usually for me, so Frenzy or One For All. Seems like Hunters got the best deal out of Solar 3.0. Some Titan builds seem OK, but Warlocks are worse off in pretty much each "equivalent" to what was before: Top Tree Dawn is basically as it was, but air accuracy got nerfed in the patch so it's worse now. Middle tree has been gutted, because well got nerfed and you can't choose between healing and non healing nades any more. Bottom tree is worse because there's no way to extend super, and healing dive is now an alternative to your rift instead of having both.
The worst thing is that there's only 3 aspects and 2 of them for warlocks are useless for PvE (heat rises and icarus dash). I'm back on Void and Stasis already.

Getting a feel of the new area. Not sure about the enforced high level. Doesn't it make it basically pointless to increase your power? Maybe at some point they will just do away with power levels entirely.
And when did they nerf the Levianthan's Breath again? I know it was never all that good, but it now seems to do less damage than my Threaded Needle, while shooting a lot slower (though at least it does stagger the target literally all the time).

On a side note, I'm thinking of picking up Beyond Light on the cheap, just to fill that hole in my collection. Is it worth it though, if I already played through the campaign and got most of the useful stuff (and don't raid) when it was on Game Pass? Basically, if I'm right, all I'd really get is access to the Glassway nightfall when it comes around, the Bray simulations, Empire Hunts, and Variks' bounties, right?
I guess it's cheap enough at this point that I'd buy it anyway, but maybe I can sweeten the pot a bit. If I do buy it, I might as well get that old Beyond Light + Season bundle from CDKeys? It's the same price, and I think it should give me the current season too.

I think they are going to do away with PL in the semi near future, and good. It's fucking pointless. Signs have been there and growing IMO - stuff like the free 1520 armour set for legend campaign and the copius upgrade modules, the drop from 50 to 10 PL a season, etc.
Given that everything's difficulty is just an offset from min PL each expansion is basically a reset to 0, while seasons are just -10 to PL.
Did you lose access to Stasis? If you want to use stasis I guess so, otherwise, probably not unless you're desparate to run Glassway as a nightfall or Deep Stone Crypt.
Beyond Light + Season is specifically for Season 12 I think, so you wouldn't get this season.

You are right, I don't have Stasis anymore, though I was never particularly enthusiastic about it. Still, an extra reason to buy it and get that greyed out option off my character.
I read that Season 12 was only specifically tied to the Deluxe Edition, while the game + season bundle (which is not available anymore, mind, only through third party sellers) will give you whatever season is currently active instead. Price is basically the same, so I'll give it a try anyway.
Edit: yeah, that didn't work. I had read about people who bought the bundle and got season 13 or 14. But I guess it was only while the bundle was officially available on Steam. Oh well, it was worth a shot. Guess that explains why the price was the same.

New Dungeon is good. Much better than Grasp. Fair bit harder too.
New Warlock Exotic boots are excellent and make Solar 3.0 much more fun - Fusion rifle kills proc radiance, and icarus dash reloads all guns. You can have infinite radiance using Vex, or just pair any weapon with a fusion and enjoy.

Damn, how comes the Stasis grind is still such a... grind? I can go to Ikora and buy a gazillion Void aspects, but here I need to... shatter 50 crystals? And for some reason Headstone crystals don't seem to count? Jesus.

Tried to do a blind run with randoms last night of the new dungeon that was a total disaster. One of the players spent the entire time practically screaming down the mic like an over excited child, like it was his first ever endgame activity despite sounding reasonably old and the other guy clearly got fed up and made some excuse about needing to go out and called it after about 2 attempts at the first boss.
Finding it harder to stay engaged with the game as the thrill has always been in the endgame activities for me, but finding a group that A: works with the spare time I have available and B: aren't irritating as fuck when you do find one just becomes harder and harder with every passing year.

Phew, crucible didn't feel so good. The unstable framerate is okay in PvE, but PvP will punish you mercilessly if your game starts dropping to 40-45 fps during a firefight.
My bad luck - I had to buy this laptop three months ago, when the GPU shortage was still peaking, so this GTX 1650 was the best I could find for the money. Today, I could get a RTX 3050 for the same price. Of course, it would be bulkier and heavier and with a worse screen, so mine still was a good choice. And besides, Destiny has been running like crap for the last two years, so I can't really blame the GPU that much either.
