The whole soundtrack dropped on streaming services earlier apparently. Hopefully servers are somewhat stable by the time I settle down to play later this evening.
Or maybe I'll just play some horizon instead like a sensible person and wait until the weekend.

Seems alright! I’ve gone from 1279 to 1350 power level 💪
Though the recommended power of the first mission is 1360 😭😂

First mission was fine at 1350. It was a banger of a mission too. Servers have been fine too, shaping up very nicely.

Noticed some of the music has OG Destiny notes in there. Just got to the forging and got my first glaive. This is doing all the right things so far.

Yeah it's really good that they are explaining this stuff where everyone will see it now, rather than just hidden in lore books.
Really like the glaive. Also enjoying that Season Pass exotic machine gun. Nice and unique.

Great, just got disconnected during the first mission. Seemed like I was near the end as well ( I just realigned the cannon to get shot onto Savathûn's ship ). EDIT: I was able to start from the last checkpoint. Good.

OK, that was not near the end of the mission at all. Quite meaty missions, I like it.

That first mission took me close to two hours on legendary
Loving it. Very D1 with all the Darkness zones

Legendary missions aren't playing around. They remind me of the old Solstice missions in Y1, perhaps a little less annoying (no match game so far). But it seems they get worse: the first two missions capped me at 1350 against a mission level of 1360, and the third one capped me at 1355 against a recommended level of 1370. We gonna get in Grandmaster territory by the final mission? Shame I couldn't finish it because a weasel error kicked me out. I wish I had more time to get into the surrounding stuff. As it goes, I really can't be bothered with the grind. It will be enough if I can finish the campaign before I have to move out.
That said, I ended up splurging a little on a laptop with a GTX 1650 (it was basically the cheapest gaming-level laptop around), maybe that will let me play a bit in the next months too. If time allows.

This is absolutely fantastic stuff so far. Serious Glykon vibes from the mission structure, albeit a little lighter for obvious accessibility reasons. Love the new location so far too. A real treat after the disappointment of Europa.

Loving this from a lore perspective up to now. Curtain is finally being pulled back in certain areas more and more.

Initial impressions are that my favorite mode - Gambit - is considerably even more fantastic now. The primeval takes much longer to burn down, more heavy ammo frees up tactics and I just got a gun with a perk that marks invaders for your team when hit
So far I’m feeling they knocked it out of the park with the expansion

Is it just me or have they fixed the hdr and improved the graphics in this?
It all looks a lot better and sharper however I may have just made that up

Yep, I thought I was imagining that but it immediately looked sharper to me as soon as I spawned on Mars for the first mission.

Am I OK to... use an Upgrade Module to bump up my 'old' armour with good stats with 'new' powerful armour with shitty stats? Or should I be saving these until I hit the power cap?

If you can wait, I'd say at least finish the campaign and use the freebie set to infuse then. I've got loads to spare and they're pretty cheap to just buy, so I've been infusing a piece every once in a while when I get a higher than usual drop.

Unless I've missed something obvious they've announced I'd bin the stuff with poor stats to upgrade your current gear.
I usually only start looking at a piece seriously if it has a base of 62 and half decent recovery.
It does absolutely vomit higher level gear at you though so be careful not to throw upgrade modules at everything if you're in fear of running out of them. Keep the piece you were going to trash in your inventory and before long that will work to have something drop that's even higher to use.

Fuck me, not played much Destiny for a while but the first mission on legendary with a mate was hard but great fun, took us nearly 3 hours.
I’m guessing they’ve changed the revive mechanic/timer on this mode? As we kept dying really quickly at times as the timer was really low.
Is there a guide of what’s changed in the last few years ? As my mate was talking me through stuff and I didn’t have a clue what he was talking about 🤣🤣

Had a quick go last night with the boy and it seemed great to us! We stuck it on Legendary, but it already seemed quite tough so hopefully we won't get too overwhelmed by it.
Need to get my head around the new void system, might take a look at that at lunchtime. Any tips?

Seems similar to the ice stuff (stasis?) from Beyond Light. I went with the aspects which help boost super and grenade recharge, rather than any which offered perks but neutered other stats.
I had a full-stack of Upgrade Modules – in my inventory at least.

Playing on legendary gives you lots of upgrade modules during a mission, so that helps too.
That said, it looks like I might have to grind other activities a bit. Already at the fourth mission, my power level is not enough to tackle it.

Yeah I'm playing through on Normal first time and I think it was the 4th mission I had to jump out and power up a bit even on the lower setting as some of the stuff was one shotting me in long darkness zones.

Don't forget that in legend you're locked to 10 or 15 under the mission so you can be very sparing in your infusions.
I used Outbreak and it slayed. Combed with my adept hothead and glaive.
