Was a nice showcase, and more playable than a gta game

Main thing for me was the lack of texture loading of any kind. Very, very occasional pop on a random rooftop I flying around, but otherwise nothing. I think we’re so far away from any game built in this though.
DF put it really well by saying that cross-gen must die and die immediately.

That’s a port, not a game built in it and for it and only capable of running on the new hardware.

Fortnite's engine is pretty impressive, especially in terms of flexibility.
that said, at least on switch, avoiding texture pop-in isn't one of its strong suits. Sometimes even in the menu or the store, it'll take about 3 minutes for the high-res models and textures to load in, meaning you're left looking at a blurry polygonal mess that looks like Quake 1 mashed into Quake 2.

Feels like it wouldn't take that much effort to turn this thing into a proper game.

I said 'What the fuck' as I realised you could walk around the city.
I re-watched the second film recently and commented on the aspects of the lacklustre CGI. But the benefit of that, in hingsight, is that the real-time gameplay in this was as (seemingly) as good as the CGI in that.

Oooh, this is a bit sexy isn’t it?
If they can do me a full Enter the Matrix sequel that looks like this and doesn’t control like it was made by someone who has never played a game before, I’m all in.

I've only just caught up with this UE5/matrix thing but while watching it, this was my exact thought. I could see the exact same wild swings between photorealism and uncanny valley that the actual films delivered at the time. I know we have all the modern cgi in films now (banner in the hulkbuster as an exception) but a lot of it was pushed in this film and I have to admit this is some bloody good tech on show and I'm interested to see how other studios' push it. Wish it was available on PC to see how far we could stretch it and compare the load times.

Apparently they're releasing it next year as an unreal project so not only will you be able to play it, but you should be able to open it in unreal and have a play around with the setup.

My nephew came around for dinner and saw the new PS5 for the first time. I gave him this to play to demonstrate what, I guess, will eventually be what PS5 games look like. He was pretty impressed.
Also just loaded games at random to show off the load times, which was the real draw. Skyrim loading in seconds hurt him badly.
