Just got to the musical talk show sequence. Those beautiful crazy bastards. Just such a wonderful experience. Does make me want to persevere with the original, but I feel Remedy have really found their groove with Control and this. It is, in short, flipping brilliant. I just couldn't believe they managed to top the ashtray maze.

So you can't buy it and need to own the deluxe edition. Choice.

Don’t remember it being that much to upgrade to the Deluxe though? £15 maybe?

It was only a £12 upgrade for me for some reason, but yeah, £15 now.

I've been holding off on AW2 in the hope it comes to Gamepass. Maybe it will now it's been out for a year, although I would have expected to see it on the "coming soon" list by now. That being said it only runs to December (Indiana Jones) so maybe early in the new year?

Still haven't picked this up for a similar reason and the first game is still in my top 5 ever.
After Alan Wake, Quantum Break and Control seemed to be gradual improvements on Remedys formula. I couldn't quite understand why they made this (at least from reviews) a clunky survival horror.

I dunno, "clunky survival horror" feels pretty on brand for them.

Still think Max Payne 1 and 2 are their best output.

I'd say their core gameplay mechanic is always fairly decent. Whether it is shining the torch, bullet time, all the powers in Control.

Yeah I completely agree - it's the writing and characters that usually elicit a shrug from me.
To be fair to Remedy though at least they try something different, just stumble in their execution imo.

I think I said it in another thread, but if I could like a game for its aesthetics and vibe alone, Remedy games would be my GotY every year they come out. I love Twin Peaks and Stephen King! I love House of Leaves!
But the actual experience of playing the games is just so, so off-putting to me. And I really don't appreciate the meta stuff either, especially when it gets all self-congratulatory.
But whatever. I won't shit up these threads any more with my bullshit. It's just annoying to me, because I can't think of any games that I *want* to like more than these ones.

They certainly could do with an editor. It is a bit like playing a David Lynch game, where it is entirely cryptic and if you miss a tiny note, then you are screwed.

Alan Wake 2 was ok and started strong but I found it dragged on far too long and ironically I didn't enjoy the missions where you played as Alan.

I held off playing the first DLC until after the 2nd DLC was released, then I could play a complete second play through.
I do think the trailer for the 2nd DLC looks great.
I believe you can start the main game and play ALL the DLC during the main game? Can anyone confirm this?

I definitely get why they're a bit Marmite but honestly, I'm glad there are still developers led by a single, clear visionary, or at least a team that really buys into a vision.
There's so little of it in big AAA games anymore. Very happy to play more soon.

For £800 I want more than just likely medium quality reflections. My pc was about £1000 ish and it can do 2077 with ray tracing overdrive/path tracing.
I’m not against mid cycle refreshing but this pro just seems a bit pointless.

Loving the sound of the gameplay assist options. Never really enjoyed the gunplay with Remedy titles post Max Payne and this could be just the answer to help me jump into AW2

Not sure what time the update/dlc is dropping. I had hoped to get an hour on it before work this morning before 6 but it was not up.

Coming straight off the back of Silent Hill 2, I will be playing Alan Wake 2 tonight for the 2nd time, but with all the DLC available.
It's a great time to be a horror fan for sure.
