Well fuck. It's confirmed today that James McCaffrey voice of Max Payne and Alex Casey in Alan Wake 2 died after suffering with cancer. Fuck cancer up the arse!

AW2 has sold over 1.3M but yet to make a profit.
Remedys fastest selling game.

Both?
They seem really happy with it's sales so far so probably confident it will return a profit.

The combat in 1 was never fun at the time.
American Nightmare was better for that but less horror.

I might give American Nightmare a go after this, its a shame they didn't use the combat handling from that in this. Also sure they could of improved the combat in this but companies just improve the graphics a bit and thats it

Yeah Nightmare has the best combat out of the 3. Is the combat in 2 not as good as AN?

This is yet another reminder that I should get around to playing Alan Wake, Control and Alan Wake 2 at some point for the first time before a fourth game turns up.

So AW II, only just started, enjoying walking around as Saga, only just got to Bright Falls and visited the morgue...I'm not sure about the "case board" thing, seems overly fiddly, do I have to use it a lot ?

Quite a bit yes but you get more used to it. It’s not ideal and should have been better implemented. Excellent game though. I need to pick up the dlc.

Yeah, the case board seems to have annoyed quite a few people. Didn't bother me too much, but I would have liked to see it used a bit more as an actual puzzle. The way they actually use it might as well be automated and you can look at it as you wish. Played the DLC when it came out the other week and thought it excellent. I really liked the way they split it into three separate bite sized episode, with each being a TV episode length (about 40-50 minutes). I played each one over three consecutive nights and it was a really good way to digest it. The first has some legitimately laugh out loud moments "My motorbike is also a werewolf!" being my favourite and the last really goes all out on the batshit crazy stuff. The middle episode is probably the weakest, but still enjoyable and nice to see Jesse again. Pity that they didn't manage to do all the planned episodes. Supposedly there would have been 5 with 2 of them using quite a bit James McCaffrey, but he passed away before it was completed. There is a nice tribute at the end though, with a clip of him speaking some of the dialogue that would have been used.

Thank you both for info.
I bought the deluxe version (well gamepass quest points did/i.e it was free!), I think that is what it is called, it has the 2 expansions, do we know much about second one yet ?

Not much, other than the title being The Lake House and it likely connecting to (spoilering in case people want to go in blind, but this will be obvious if you know what the Lake House is in Alan Wake 2 or read the description for the DLC) Control 2, much in the way the Control DLC AWE linked to Alan Wake 2.

I would say the DLC is essential if you enjoyed the main game. It's like a short burst medley of the best action / exploration / batshit moments in one package.

I think I accidently just started one of the dlc's I was AW looking around (very early in game) and interacted with a tv, next thing I know I am the waitress from earlier in a café serving coffee, actually seems really fun and I love the "goofy vibe" I have just collected my supplies, i'e, guns! and I am off to the boat yard.
I have noticed a fair amount of shared lore (in main game) with Control and QB, I like it.

That's awesome. Didn't know you could access the DLC in game.
I might do that actually. Leave my DLC playthrough (of which I'm 2/3ds through) til winter for when I start my next AW playthrough. Then just do them as they appear in game.

Yeah, I had heard they were accessible through the game. Don't know if they are particularly hidden or along the main path. There do standalone completely, but I could see them fitting quite nicely into particular moments during the main game.

Have to admit to really struggling with this, after the great (even though it robbed me of the complete episode cheveo!) "number one fan" vignette, I am back to Alan, in a subway and it is so fucking frustrating and hard going, especially where I have to keep changing various crime scenes. I thought I was having trouble with Saga's board but this is even worse.
I will keep with it for a bit in the hope it gets better, but I am very disappointed overall at the moment
