Well the Switch was a hit with my now 7 year old daughter today. She's got Mario Kart, Sports, Kirby and Princess Peach games to play. We had a few rounds of Battle on Mario Kart and she's started the first world of Princess Peach and is buzzing. A great set of games to get started on! Kirby does actually get quite difficult towards the end. Fortunately it has co-op play if they need any help with it.

Just checked my emails... Preordered via simply games in Jan 2018.
Looks like they've finally cancelled my preorder.

Metroid Prime 4 was announced 7 years ago now. So that’s the same as the combined development time of the original 3 games.
I can only wonder if the game was quietly restarted a second time some years ago. Or if it’s finished and is just sitting in limbo, awaiting the release of a new console. Either way, that’s longer than the development time of the two most recent Zelda games as well.

Yeah, you do have to wonder if it's pretty much done and is just waiting for the Switch 2.
Then again hasn't pretty much everybody that was involved with the original trilogy left Retro? As much as it seemed like the logical move to hand it to them, it could've been a huge mistake and it's been rebooted yet again.

Possible. I know they helped out with Mario Kart 8 and obviously did the amazing Tropical Freeze, but that’s 10 years ago. No idea what that team has been utilised for since, unless it’s a string of unsuccessful pitches and that kind of thing certainly will bleed a team of its talent.

Nintendo Direct tomorrow!
No mention of the new console, but hey, could still be pretty nice! (also thank you Elon for making my embed not work because the link auto-changes to X now...)

No Switch successor announcement... because we are announcing the GameCube successor instead - THE GAMECUBE 2!!!!
Or not. Think they mentioned a while back there would be no hardware announcements in this one. I expect it is going to be pretty bare bones, but might be some surprises and possibly a couple of games that will be cross-gen. I'm still thinking September-October Switch 2 announcement, with a release being somewhere in the first 4-5 months 2025.

Just show me more of Layton, a Silksong release date (lol) and Wind Waker/Twilight Princess HD.
I'd take an F-Zero GX remaster too but that ain't ever happening.

Yeah, 3pm UK time. Think that has been the time for the last few Directs. Would much rather they did them in the evening, although I will probably still stick it on in the "background" while I "work".

I finally crumbled and played Wind Waker HD on my Wii U last year, that was awesome, and in hindsight I'm happy I did as I think the gamepad added a lot to the experience. I do also have TP HD for the Wii U somewhere, but I have not yet played it... so that would be cool on the Switch. What I'd really like though is another surprise 2D Zelda remake like Links Awakening, which was one of my absolute highlights on the Swithc, I loved it.

Yeah. Link’s Awakening was excellent on Switch. I’d take A Link to the Past, the two Capcom games or a remake of the original in a similar fashion.

Ocarina of time Remake Please.
The youngest brat played through and finished WindWaker recently, so it isn't so much in need of updating.
Twilight Princess would be nice.

We're here - just a bit weak at the moment, can definitely tell it's coming to the end of its console lifespan.

I'm surprised we got a new first party game in Mario & Luigi and isn't all ports and remakes
