Treated myself to the 15th Anniversary, Big box edition of Ticket To Ride Europe which arrived today. It. Is. Lush! Oh gosh did not know about that, those trains and tins you get are gorgeous!
Thanks goodness its pricy, stops the urge of adding to a shopping basket.

I just ordered a 100 set of Iron Clays gaming markers. I can't stand metal coins, and after playing the dull as fuck Great Western Snore with some nice poker chips, and kind of having a good time, I figured I'd just buy some nice chips and use with ALL THE GAMEZ.
Found a handy spreadsheet of gmaes and their bank sizes, and it seems like the 100 set will cover all my games. If not I have some real cheap poker chips I can use. The small box for the Iron clays are a bonus though. I can keepthem on the shelf next to the games.

My copy of the new Descent turned up this morning. Pretty impressive package.
The 3D terrain is cool and the new mini sculpts FF have produced are very nice.
Looking forward to giving it a crack later today. A dungeon crawler that doesnt involve a vast sprawl of hundreds of cards and tokens is quite appealing.

Reviewers seem to like it, apart from the art for some reason.
I'm not that keen on appdriven games but descent seem to have nailed it. As you say, a gazillion cards and tokens to keep track of can be a drag.
In other news, the founder of Broken Token had been called out as an abuser. Isaac Childres has decided to not include broken Token inserts as part of Frosthaven campaign.
The comments on Kickstarter are quite something.

Descent is ace, but even though it doesn’t have card sprawl it’s still a colossal table hog. Looks stunning though, I love verticality in games and this all nails it. Also worth remembering it’s a fail forward game like JiME, so don’t be too surprised if even the tutorial whallops you, especially if you’re playing with less than four characters. Despite being able to go into a quest with only two it’s very clearly balanced for four.

Also yesterday I completed my Vital Lacerda collection - or at least all of his Eagle Gryphon Games releases. Vinhos, Mercado De Lisboa from my local store and Lisboa coming in the next few days.
And also the KS version of Dark Ages
And Fleet the Dice Game.
And Nightfighter Ace
And Hadrian’s Wall
And Terraforming Mara Big Box
And the new Aliens RPG Colonial Marines book
I may have gone overboard with retail therapy.

My iron clays purchase was definitely a dose of retail therapy. I'm currently trying not to order 1830.

This hobby has just completely stalled for me over the last year and a half. I've played an ungoodly amount of Terraforming Mars and Scythe online, but I don't really want to be spending money on physical games when I don't have anyone to physically play with during lockdowns.

Not many are unplayed, but a fair few have only a couple of plays. I don’t really track it to be honest.

It's been a long time since me and the mates have played a game. Since covid hit and we've all been stuck at home we gave D&D a go online through Roll 20 and DNDBeyond. Now things are getting a little more normal we're hoping to get a game together in person soon.
Long story short, I finally cracked open Bloodborne board game yesterday to learn the rules as I'm hoping to play that with them soon. Loving the concept. Anybody played that one? What you think about it?

It’s pretty good. Campaign-ish dungeon crawler that nails the game and makes it more tactical than traditional dice chucking DCs. Replayability without expansions is a little questionable, but a solid game design that isn't typical CMON Ameritrash (not that there’s much wrong with those IMO)

I've been lucky, I have a gaming partner and family. And now that lockdown has ended I'm able to game with my close mates on a weekly basis again. If not for that I probably wouldn't have played at all as I can't stand online board games. Our regular group maintained a weekly online Meetup but after 9 hours working from home on a PC the thought of another 4/5 hours didn't appeal.

Can really recommend Hadrian’s Wall btw, kind of a worker placement roll and write hybrid. Immensely satisfying when you spot a combo chain and shade in a crapload of spaces all at once, especially when it aligns with your chosen path (bonus points for completing certain sections of the pages). Also has an official campaign mode for the solo mode, which is probably going to be my preferable way to play - multiplayer has a little bit of player interaction but like most roll and writes you’re pretty much just doing your own thing anyway.

Nice work!
I still haven't ever played a Lacerda game. Intrigued by On Mars but its nigh on impossible to get and costs a small fortune when it is available.

Honestly, On Mars is the one I’d recommend least. Awesome theme, and I’m very much looking forward to the campaign expansion, but it’s an absolute bitch to learn. Not because it’s got a million rules (like most Lacerdas it’s actually pretty straightforward), but because it has a ton of downstream combos for actions that are very easy to forget about in the heat of a game. Vinhos or The Gallerist would be my top recommendations - pretty easy to learn, extremely thematic, plus excellent solo modes.

Also I guess it’s not technically the “complete” Lacerda as I’m missing CO2, but it’s all his Eagle Gryphon games.

Is anyone still playing Marvel Champions? I’ve bought the Guardians of the galaxy but not any of the hero packs since. I notice Venom is out of stock from Chaos Cards but the others are instock. Not sure what to get next, should I get the new Thanos expansion or try and get Starlotd,Gamorra and Drax from Chaos whilst I can ?
I can get Venom from elsewhere but there’s new hero’s coming out soon so I’m playing catch up now. The thing is weren’t they supposed to release a new hero/villain every month (I know Covid messed that up) but it hard when they release 3 or 4 at once. I’d normally wait but FFG are shite for restocking they’re LCG games so I don’t want to miss out.

Still playing a little bit but I’m kind of waning on it, it doesn’t have enough of a narrative pull for me to enjoy it over Arkham Horror or LotR. The deck construction element is really unbalanced at the moment and you’ve got a ton of OP heroes (pre-built Venom is nearly invincible in my opinion) but with artificial difficulty from some villains by simply overwhelming you with encounter cards or schemes, so instead of it being a puzzle to work out it’s a swingy grind.

To be honest I’ve not played anything for a while it’s more the case of fomo and the how poor FFG have been with the reprints.
I’ve got LOTR core and an expansion which I think is the first hobbit one, I’d like to try Arkham but having to buy soooo many of the sets and then build the decks I wouldn’t have the time to do it or even the inclination. At least with Marvel the decks are near enough built for you but you can still play with different aspects and other standard cards.

To the absolute delight of my other half, the new Descent hasn't left the table since I got it the other weekend. Turns out it's exactly the dungeon crawl / rpg in a box I was looking for.
The app integration is superb and the gameplay is easy enough to pick-up and play you can easily jump in and out of sessions, but still has enough depth to the turn by turn action to keep me fully invested.
Narrative seems pretty decent for a game too. I like the way the app actually allows characters to develop. It's nifty.
All in all it was a very expensive longshot, that has thankfully really paid off for me.
RECOMEDED
