Iβm impatiently waiting for a reprint of the Star Trek version.

I actually prefer the Trek version, especially with the Wrath of Khan expansion. The original is a great game but feels thematically generic at times, and Iβm a huge fan of theme.

Thanks Gremmi. I like rolling dice and things dying, but also fun and narrative.... so I'll buy all of them aside from Gloomhaven. I'll read up the ones you've listed at BGG. Basically I'm after D&D solo I think. Thanks tbh, if you're after d&d solo, you'd do a lot worse than the d&d board games - legend of drizzt, wrath of ashardalon, caste ravenloft etc, usually each in the 30-40 mark (think drizzt is on offer on amazon atm) and they're standalone & interchangeable there's a lot of dull stuff in the roll & move & twat world, i've tried a lot of them and still haven't found one that's absolutely clicked...think the closest i came was sword & sorcery...really liked gloomhaven but it's not really a straight crawler, as gremmi said

Gloomhaven is a dexterity game crossed with memory in which players tries to stack health tokens on enemy boards, whilst trying to remember if the different mana tokens should slide up or down.

Star Trek Frontiers (the Mage Knight reskin) is the absolute tits. Itβs streamlined without losing complexity and really captures the feel of TNG somehow.
Does feel weird for Picard to blow up starbases but HEY letβs move onβ¦

Tainted Grail is terrific. Itβs what 7th Continent really should have been. Hopefully theyβre borrowing a few things from this for 7th Citadel.

Played Brass Birmingham last night, and I can see why it's so highly rated.
Excellent game. I won with an absurd margin, but that was down to all of us being first time players. I found a real VP maker, and everyone else was too busy pulling their own levers that I could build it up without interference.
Really looking forward to the next time I'm play it.

Two of us played Great Western Trail for the first time last night. The first hour or so was a bewildering session of confusion and terror, but after a few rounds itβs actually a really smooth, quick moving game. Neither of us had any idea what we were supposed to be doing strategy-wise, but there seem to be a lot routes you can go down to score points. Lost by 5 points though Really looking forward to giving it another go. Seems all those reviewers and people on BGG might know what their talking about after all.

Picked up 2 games in the last week. Lord of the rings card game. Exactly as I was expecting, not quite as good as Arkham, but I prefer it to Marvel which I found underwhelming. Already in the addicted phase. 2 saga expansions and the complete Shadows of Mirkwood campaign on the way. Perfect little puzzle fun.
Also picked up Resident Evil 3 as I wanted something simple to play with my brother. Only done the first 2 scenarios but it is great. Very tense and atmospheric, it nails the atmosphere of the ps1 game. It is awesome the mechanics that recreate the combat etc, where in my mind I see the zombies biting, then being pushed back so you can run etc. Finished scenario 1 with 1 bullet left on one character, and the other reduced to a knife. Nicely balanced risk v reward. Only criticism is it is all way too dark, especially the door tokens etc which really are too fiddly.

Played Illimat for the first time since I received it from the Kickstarter over six years ago! Can't believe I slept on it for so long as it's actually a very accessible card/resource gathering game. I've always loved the aesthetic of the game (and it's a lovely quality package) but the rules always seemed much harder to grasp then they actually are. I also wasn't sure my wife and our mutual friends would enjoy it (and my nerdy board game group has since dispersed) so it was never on the menu when playing games. Tonight I just suggested it to my wife and father-in-law and we had an open round learning the rules together and then played another two rounds following that. Really good fun. I played another game of Brass Birmingham, and I still see why it's so highly rated.
It's an entry level Age of Steam with a bunch of chrome. I personally prefer age of Steam, but I can see why some might like the safety net that Brass Birmingham has.

The best thing about Hero Quest is the gigantic box you could practically live in.

Kidderminster is the specific town I was thinking of. But also what's unpronounceable about it? Kid-der-mins-ter...

The new Jaws game looks a little tasty. Hidden movement, 1 vs all and a nice retro, movie-accurate art style.
Plus you get to be Jaws and demolish the Orca.
Edit: is the shark called Jaws? Now that I think about it Iβm not so sure.

This one? boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/272738/jawsItβs a veeeery lightweight family game, which is weird given the subject matter. The best Prosperous Hall movie tie in so far has been Fast and Furious, weirdly enough.

Itβs very good. Hard to describe but it almost feels a bit like Pandemic, but with punching and bat tech. Itβs really about area control while you round up enough evidence/resources to uncover and take on the boss. Also sort of a Legacy game, in that youβll unlock vehicles that give you one-shot abilities, and redraw the map as you go, but itβs a wipe clean board and nothing gets torn up, so you can easily just reset and start from scratch.
