Never got Slayer. Albums are boring and they're boring live.
Never saw Anthrax live and I kind of regret that. I got them quite late and didn't like them when I was younger because everybody else who I knew who liked them was an idiot and I was insufferable.
Metallica's black album was undeiably a complete sell out. It is also their best album by a country mile. Everything they did was shit after.
The best thrash band is Napalm Death, arguments about that is and isn't thrash notwithstanding.

Call of Ktulu is actually Metallica's best song. If I ever got to see it live I think I would die of happiness.

I used to be a massive music snob but as I've got older I've come to realise it's fucking exhausting.
People like what they like and it's so much easier to just accept that, even though sometimes I do still have to check myself when I hear folks talking about incredibly generic pop star A, etc. and my first reaction is to snort in disdain.

Aphex Twin is not something that should ever have existed.

Are you basing that on just seeing the video for windowlicker a couple of decades ago, or something else?
He made some pretty fantastic music imo. (Heliosphan for example)

Drukqs wasn't what I was expecting when I bought it, but is a great album. It's tracks featured on just about every piece at various animation festivals while I was at uni. There was a great 2D hand drawn one set to Omgyjya-Switch7 featuring a lot of clowns.

I was talking about this with my mate the other day. It turns 25 this year so it would be nice to get a follow up video where the kids are all grown up and work in a call centre or something.

"Beat It" was the best Michael Jackson song. "Thriller" can do one, into the sea.

Prompted by the inexplicable (to me) excitement about the Red Dead Redemption ports…
Westerns. Cowboys. They’re just shit. Boring. In all media.
Exhibit A in support of my argument: Back to the Future Part III is easily the worst movie of the trilogy.
I rest my case.

I disagree, it's like any genre, a lot of them are shit but some Westerns are amazing.
I think zombies are crap and massively boring, but admit there have been a few exceptional films featuring them.

Dragons are boring. I'm not sure why - they're big lizards/dinosaurs and should be really cool, but they're one of the most boring make believe creatures I can think of. And they're all the same

A dynamic feeling open world. Great writing, interesting characters, cowboy stuff It’s the “cowboy stuff” that I struggle with. I don’t see the appeal at all. Horses? Far better in a medieval / fantasy setting of knights and - well, I hesitate to say dragons now - but horses in things like Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones are great. In Westerns they’re just a slightly rubbish form of transport. Guns? Always good in action movies, but guns in Westerns are always the shit guns that feel slow and cumbersome. Slow firing revolvers or hunting rifles. There’s far more excitement to be had from modern or future weaponry (lasers!!) or if you go the other way, the noble sword. Chewing tobacco, drinking whiskey in saloon bars… tumbleweed and stand offs in dusty streets… cowboy hats… cattle rustling and lassoes… the tropes and cliches aren’t even that interesting. It’s just a period of American history where things were pretty dull.

Two exceptions might be how The Hobbit movies did Smaug (as he had a personality), and the dragons in Reign of Fire.

I doubt medieval times were as glamourous as they appear in fantasy fiction. It would have been a terrible time to live for most people
