I feel like it's sort of your own fault for going to a Nickelback gig, buddy.

There's a sea shanty version of Nickelback's Rockstar on YouTube, sung by the band themselves.
I prefer the original.

I can't believe anyone would rate Genesis, especially Phil Collins Genesis. Even for a prog band they were embarrassing.
Blink-182 are pretty slight but have some genuine bangers, also Travis Barker.

You made it sound like Phil was the problem.

I am sir, and it’s a different project by the caretaker that I bought. Everywhere at the end of time.

You made it sound like Phil was the problem. It's a complex intersection of factors of which Mr Collins is only one.

As I have no doubt said before on here, a friends flat got turned over. Every cd got nicked, except for the Sisters of Mercy ones. We laughed muchos. I still have a soft spot for the first lp & floodlands though. 😀

I've never knowingly heard Gabriel era Genesis. I know YouTube is just there but, is it actually any better?

I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums.

Serious answer is Peter Gabriel Genesis is a completely different thing to Phil Collins Genesis. Phil Genesis is pretty much indistinguishable from solo Phil for the most part. Very poppy. Whereas Gabriel Genesis is proper prog rock. If you like things like King Crimson and Yes then you’ll like OG Genesis. Then again if you like those bands you’re probably already into OG Genesis.
