Yeah, I enjoyed both the Mako and Wind Waker sailing. The Mako sections are basically exploring planets on bouncy ATV, aka fun, and sailing well.. who doesn't love boats?

Because we need some Jennifer Connelly riding the electric horse on every page, here is some more.
(Also, for reasons known only to whatever casting agent he was presumably blackmailing at the time, that guy who was Brett in Pulp Fiction.) [/thread-derailment]

I think most my mental images of Jennifer Connelly are from Requiem for a Dream, as that film seared itself into my retinas after seeing it.

Probably belongs in the "people would be surprised I haven't seen..." thread, but since the discussion is in here. I've never seen Requiem. I remember hearing good things about it even back when it was new, hearing how sexy Connelly is in it, hearing that Marlon Wayans gives a legitimately great performance in it, back when people thought comedians couldn't really act. For whatever reason, never had the chance to check it out. Didn't buy the DVD, and it kind of just slipped away from me.
But along these same lines of not particularly well regarded comedians pulling off surprisingly great dramatic roles, I've always been a fan of Adam Sandler in Punch Drunk Love. There's no sexy 80s or 90s childhood crushes in that one though.

I guess Connelly is sexy in Requiem for a Dream, but the context of it is so wrong that you'd feel a bit weird wanking to it.

It'd be like watching Blue Velvet and going "phwoaaaaar, that Isabella Rossellini is a bit of a looker eh".

It's not quite that bad. But all the same, maybe don't watch it on a first date. Or when you want to feel happy.
Edit: Also, I think maybe you meant Irreversible, not Unbreakable. I don't remember Bruce Willis being terribly sexy in Unbreakable.

You're right. I meant the Monica Bellucci film. But I always mix words up, so I'm just glad you knew what I was getting at.

Not sure what the FG consensus is, but I don't think Requiem For A Dream is an that good a film. It's grim but the central characters are so unlikeable I don't really have much empathy for them.
The only character I feel sorry for is the old lady.
Still, great cinematography and score.

I don't necessarily need to have empathy for characters in films for me to appreciate them. Just as long as I'm not actively rooting for them to fail.
Requiem for a Dream is a thing I think most people should watch once. Just once is enough.

I like it from a technical point of view, I just don't think it really says much that's interesting.

As much as people see her as musical royalty.. I don't think I actually like Björk. I mean, I often like the music but her voice though? When she tries to sing, she sounds like some off-Broadway failure, and the other times she sounds like a raspy teenager.
But the beats around her? Fantastic. Vespetine in particular is a banger of an album. But. It could have been better with Beth Gibbons or Martina Topley Bird singing it.

I do agree, I like some of her stuff, from Homogenic and Post mainly, but it’s like the best tracks are good in spite of her vocals rather than because of them

I would love to do a Prince or Nine Inch Nails styled cover of A Hidden Place.

To be fair I can't really say to much as I still think Thom Yorke is a shit vocalist, and the Radiohead songs I do like are in spite of his vocals, certainly not because of them.

Thom is great! But. I only have beef with that opinion because you like Thom the Third (Chris Martin is unfairly Jr, like all Juniors). Matt Bellamy is an impeccable showman. One of the illest concerts I've been to was Muse during Origin of Symmetry, with Matt singing, playing guitar, piano and dancing SIMULTANEOUSLY. not independently. at once.
So I get liking him. But he sings like an Aldi version of Thom.

I also really enjoy Mako in ME1. It had that sense of exploration. I hated Mako in the later games, basically just dropping you in another linear tunnel.

Don't you mean all in ME1? Because 2 and 3 didn't have the Mako. ME1 Mako sections were separated into open world side mission planets and linear "tunnels" in the main missions.

I think there was one mission in ME2 that had it. Might have been a DLC thing.

Here’s an unpopular opinion. Although I completed Mass Effect 1&2 I didn’t really like them
They were both ok but were 6 out 10 games I endured rather than enjoyed
Couldn’t bring myself to play #3 as a result

My unpopular opinion about the Mass Effect series is that ME1 combat is much better than ME2. Neither are great, but the combat in ME1 is at least a bit more RPG based. 2 tries to be even closer to cover shooters and doesn't even do it well. Perhaps it is because I played it on PC, which inexplicably doesn't support controllers, and it really isn't designed for keyboard and mouse, but it feels flat, lacks any feedback and all the enemies are bullet sponges.
A couple of years ago I tried to play through the series from beginning to end, having never actually played the third game. I just couldn't get through the second game and it's non-stop combat encounters.

ME1 is a cover shooter where it's impossible to get into cover. So no, I don't think it has better combat than 2. THAT'S A VERY UNPOPULAR OPINION.

Mass Effect combat is fun if you have a class with the biotic powers. Even if they can be OP.
If you just have a boring shooting soldier it's less fun

Who actually plays ME as a boring soldier type?...
"Hmmmm, do I go for space magic or should I just play as a regular soldier?"
