When foreign football commentators do the holding the word 'goal' for three minutes thing, it's not cool, or passionate, or exciting. It's just really fucking stupid and annoying. I have to put up with Spanish commentary on DAZN, can confirm it's fucking annoying. Wish they had an option to mute the commentary and just go with crowd noise, can't hear a thing over those noisy fuckers. And they are so excitable over mundane things, look away and you'd think something was actually happening when someone just passed a ball. |

Oh, I listen to Spanish audio channels especially for the long GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLs. And the excitement overall. I find the English announcers kind of lifeless.

I really like some of his early glam stuff, like the Honky Château album, but it was always crazy to me that his biggest hit was a complete Space Oddity knockoff.
Like if I go and rip off Thriller, can I become a megastar also?

I don't care for his music in the slightest, but I can't help but admire the guy.
He's by no means a great singer, and he doesn't have rock star good looks, so he could easily have made a good living by writing songs for other people while keeping out of the spotlight; instead, he's gone out there and become a legitimate success story, despite the aforementioned shortcomings.
Fair play, says I.

Elton John is great, even if I have only liked him in more in recent years. I'm Still Standing, Your Song, Rocket Man, Crocodile Rock, Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting, Sacrifice, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, even newer stuff like This Train Don't Stop and Are You Ready for Love? are all great pop songs.
Plus, The Lion King is one of my favourite films and the music is a big part of that.
The man himself can swing from good guy to total cunt though.

I can't think of specific incidents and cunt might be too strong a word, but he is known for being a bit of an arsehole to people around him. The Rocket Man film (produced and endorsed by husband David Furnish) doesn't shy away from painting him as fairly unpleasant at times. I expect his drinking and drug addiction has left him with a few mental health scars.

My standard view on this is that to able to make it as a celebrity you are probably have to be bit of a twat compared to your average bloke. The level of self belief needed, the ability to gain more attention than the competition you face, the readiness to get up on stage and act out like that in front of massive audiences, the drive for the approval and applause of strangers...you've got to be a bit of a tool yes? A normal person is just not going to make it and collapse in on themselves under their weight of their own self doubt when faced with what you need to overcome.
Given other historical stuff we now know, anybody who is not a serial sex abuser or straight up paedophile is a class act, relatively speaking.

Without Elton John, the people princess would never have been mourned in the way she DESERVED and this country NEEDED. Elton is right up there with our lovely Cliff as a true national treasure.
