Nah, I know, I'm just pulling your leg Thing is, that's just about how raw tomatoes in a sandwich etc make it feel for me. The taste change I don't mind, but the texture I just can't get on with... And I yours So you don't even like a BLT? FFS..... To be fair, I probably wouldn't prefer a BLT even if it didn't have tomatoes. I like the lettuce and of course the bacon, but I need me some cheese in my sandwiches. Make it a BLC and I'm all over that

I'm on the no-raw-tomatoes bandwagon too. At most - and I do mean AT MOST - I'll eat them in (or rather, refrain from picking them out of) a BLT. Otherwise, it's cooked all the way. I strongly dislike cooked carrots, and only eat 'em raw, so I'm clearly all over the place on this score. Same on the carrots, evidently each veggie is different. I've had plenty of times when I've left a sandwich or club reheating for just a bit too long and the lettuce became downright disgusting, for instance.

I like tomatoes and carrots both raw and cooked. I also like broccoli and brussel sprouts. Vegetables are just the best

Onions I used to hate, and would still rather not eat but can manage. Either way. I guess raw is better in a sandwich. Cooked otherwise.

I like cooked veg, but hate it when it's overcooked. Itend to steam veg when I'm cooking, or roast it, but my family members boil veg and often boil the fuck out of it. Soggy broccoli and carrots boiled so much they're soft are awful.

JuniorFE aren't you Greek? (Apologies if not.) I don't like raw tomatoes, but even I will admit they're great with a slab of feta.

Yeah, generally not a fan of raw toms, but cherry or plum tomatoes in a Greek salad with feta? Sign me up.

Raw tomatoes are amazing you weirdos. A little sprinkle of salt really elevates them.

The biggest problem with raw tomatoes is that supermarket ones taste of nothing and are very watery. They’ve put me off having them except when forced/in a restaurant and they’re there.
Datterini tomatoes are good though if you find them, Ocado sell them. Also keep a few of them from a packet and they grow really easily in the U.K. summer.

Raw tomatoes have their place, but wherever that place is it is definitely not in sandwiches. Unless you like a big mouthful of slime.

@reviewer yeah, the taste has changed massively over the years. A typical six pack of salad tomatoes from a supermarket just taste of nothing, but they're easy for them to grow/resilient. Even the more expensive on the vine ones (which is clearly a load of marketing BS) barely taste of anything. Growing your own is definitely the way.

Although I'm generally okay with cooked tomato I think they have no place on a full English. Can have amazing bacon and sausage and everything, then it's just ruined by a massive wet tomato.

Use the sausage as a breakwater.

Sounds like some people need to start sourcing better quality tomatoes, ideally 'locally sourced' or 'native to the region'.

You know what tomatoes are really good for (apart from making sauces and soups and other delicious items)?
Throwing at miscreants who've been put in the stocks!

Ummm. I think I'll just have a piece of toast instead, please.

The regular tomatoes are artificially ripened, while the vine ones are left to do so naturally on the vine. Also, tinned whole plum tomatoes are probably the best tomatoes you are going to get in a supermarket in the UK (assuming they are Italian). But of course only for in sauces.

I don't like raw veg of any description and that extends to tomatoes. Rabbits food, the lot of it.

Like other things such as eggs, the difference in flavour in tomatoes between the cheap and nasty stuff and the good stuff seems to be bloody huge.

Another secret point for making sauces is to use the whole plum tomatoes tins instead of chopped tomatoes, and then simply crushing with your hand. They taste way better. Something about reducing the time between the cutting and using them.
