I've been waiting outside rhaegyr 's place with my putchfork for an hour, where the hell are you all I'm cooking a vat of pasta. Some people use toilet paper (err, to throw at people's houses) but I figured it was more appropriate

I love pasta. I can have bowls of it on it's own with a glug of olive oil and salt n fresh black pepper. Some fresh chopped tomatoes would really elevate it.
Higher quality pasta generally has more of a sweet spot I find between very al dente and mushy. I like a little al dente.

Is it an unpopular opinion to not like raw tomatoes, actually? I don't mind them cooked as part of a dish (as long as it's not saturated with them) and I like tomato-based sauces, but raw tomatoes I don't even eat in a salad...

I was like that 25 years ago, then I gradually got me some big boy taste buds. Highly recommended As you like the taste of tomatoes it's probably just a mental thing, was with me anyway, love them once I got past that.

It's probably a texture thing tbh, every dish I've tried them in raw it just seems like they provide a lot of water, making everything else mushier, and not much else... I should also point out that straight up ketchup is really not my thing, I need the tomato mixed with other stuff as a sauce to be okay with it.

Could maybe try some really ripe, sweet ones in a salad, say a caprese salad to get the taste for them...

They're small and oval-like, they're not as mushy and also don't saturate everything else with juices. I can't for the life of me figure out what they're called though, over here we just call them mini tomatoes but obviously that's not the "official" name. Might be cherry tomatoes but I think those are rounder than what we've got...

You probably just need a short course of waterboarding to cure you of your fear of water.

JuniorFE no, I'm just the same. Like the taste, sauces, dishes cooked with them. Can't stand the texture of raw ones, makes me gag.

If you come near me with the intention of feeding me a raw tomato, I will insert said fruit into an orifice you wouldn't normally put a tomato in. 😁
Edit: make a nice ragu instead!

I used to eat raw tomatoes as a kid. I love tomato, and pasta sauces, salsa etc, but I hate ketchup.

Also not a big fan of raw tomato. It's okay sliced in a sandwich or something when there's other stuff to disguise the taste. But even then I've learned I do actually prefer the food without.
Tomato sauces are generally okay, but absolutely hate ketchup, it's vile.

Why would you ever have need to eat a raw potato? Unless you're one of them farm folks who do it while watching tourists walk past.
Edit: oh ffs, I should go to bed, I clearly can't read anymore.

I'm on the no-raw-tomatoes bandwagon too.
At most - and I do mean AT MOST - I'll eat them in (or rather, refrain from picking them out of) a BLT. Otherwise, it's cooked all the way.
I strongly dislike cooked carrots, and only eat 'em raw, so I'm clearly all over the place on this score.
