Let England Shake is over ten years old now. Feel old yet? (The traditional ‘demos’ version of it came out recently and it’s very good, if you like that sort of thing) Fuuuuuuck. Some of the demos albums are brilliant, amazing how close to the finished songs they are.

Her last few albums have been fantastic, especially “Let England shake”, she just released some poetic novel in her local dialect , has a new album next year and recently did soundtracks and other stuff. She’s a busy woman. Live that several times she’s learned a new instrument then used it in her next album. A fantastic live performer with amazing stage presence , hope to god I get to see her again. The trick is to not let her see you

I thought she was Australian because I only really know of her in relation to Nick Cave, who is better

I thought she was Australian because I know really know of her in relation to Nick Cave, who is better I'm assuming the punctuation you left off the end was a question mark. The answer is that she is.

Currently watching Blade Runner final cut and I actually miss the gumshoe/noir voiceover nonsense of the theatrical cut. I wish there was a best of both worlds version.
Yep, I actually like the most hated version of it.

Star Trek Discovery is the best sci-fi show I've ever seen.

All the talk of Ricky Gervais in The Woke Thread has reminded me that almost all stand-up comedy is shit. 95% of it is annoying, offensive or boring. Most routines get dull after about ten minutes.
Stewart Lee is pretty much the only one who can hold my attention.

At least in this forum, that's not that unpopular.
On the opposite of my Disco mention though, The Mighty Boosh, and Noel Fielding in general are the worst comedy I've ever seen. And I've watched most if not all of that, because my ex was super into them. The only good to come out of that show was Matt Berry's small cameo.

You should definitely check out Garth Meringhi’s Dark Place then. Noel Fielding’s only role is as a chimpanzee man riding a bmx. His finest role to date.

Ricky Gervais came up in the Canadian pub I was just in. Generally the feeling was harsh, but if I had his money I’d say the same.
It’s not a classy pub.

He's just random words put together into a sketch. "Oh I'm a crack fox who's king of the mods." He learned the wrong lessons from Monty Python, who, at the time, were much smarter than that.

Stewart Lee was my absolute idol, saw him live so many times. His recent stuff is too much like jazz fusion for me now. He's got into a rut where every routine has to descend into repetitiveness.

I used to really like Billy Connolly, though wonder if some of his stuff might be problematic now. Nothing in particular comes to mind, just a general sense.
I do like Stewart Lee but he's definitely been s bit static in style. Eddie Izzard had their moments too.
But yeah most actual standup annoys me. Even somebody like Bill Hicks kinda did my head in. Nice edgy quotes but a full set for fucking tedious.
I think that's the problem with most stand ups. They can be okay for 5 minutes but a full set... Nah.

I like stand up but rarely watch a full set. Mainly like them on panel shows.
Sean Lock was always good value on 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and QI is always worth a watch.

I really liked Mitch Hedberg. And then he died.
And... uhhhh... that's it, really. I guess Seinfeld, but I preferred the show to the stand-up.
