Wet Leg are overrated and their songs tire pretty quickly. Agree 100% they pop up on my recommendations after following a link on here. They have one song and they just change a few words in it to create new ones

The lyrics are just so fucking deep. How can this not resonate within your very soul??
"Is your muffin buttered? Would you like us to assign someone to butter your muffin?"

I mean, I heard that on the radio yesterday and did laugh. Smutty innuendo is always fun.

It was your theories about how we got our name that decided us. And the Isle of Wight stanning.

Random ass delay in games for no reason. What is wrong with being responsive?
I'm a fan of Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 for the simple reason that the menu is responsive. You push a button and it responds immediately. Why can't all games be like that?
Some games like Forager and Hob go the extra mile to prevent quick button presses. As in, you press down twice and the game only goes down once because you pressed down too fast. What the actual fuck? What is the fucking point of this?
Or take Skyrim. A developer said, you don't want to have the game immediately respond to the E key after killing someone. WTF are you talking about? Of course I want that! Instead, a corpse gives you a "E" button prompt and if you hit "E", nothing happens. Don't give me a fucking button prompt if hitting that button doesn't do anything.
Or waiting to pick up shit. There's no fucking point. One of the differences between Golden Axe Warrior and Zelda 1 is that in GAW, items dropped by enemies are instantly picked up. And guess what, that makes it a better game. Most games make you wait for picking up shit and it doesn't add anything, it just makes these games worse.
I'm not even sure if this is unpopular, developers making their games worse on purpose seems fucking stupid. But that is what most devs do.

To me it depends on the game. In, say, RDR2 it takes time to pick things up, just as it takes time to skin animals or chop wood. It doesn't take nearly as much time as it would to do it irl, but it's still a slow game.
And, crucially, that's the point of that game. It's *meant* to be methodical and slow, and the extra animations contribute to that.
But yeah, if you're just in some sort of Far Cry Ubisoft playground, it's better to have quick animations for picking up and the like. Those games want you to be rushing around from icon to icon, so having barriers to that is just going to make people annoyed.

Despite the fact that my memory of the song is tied to me hearing it continually on the car radio while my dad drove me to a school I hated, I absolutely love Groove is in the Heart. It's always being played in the local supermarket near my apartment. The first love of my non-childhood I met at a party in a bungalow way oot in the country. We got to making out in one room, she sat on my lap on this chunky old leather armchair. The music was provided from what I think was an Aiwa cassette mini boom box. The kind that only needed there D batteries. There was one cassette on offer - Groove is in the Heart, cassingle. The taped deck had auto reverse, engaged. Four, maybe five hours? That song is and will always be part of my connective tissues

But yeah, if you're just in some sort of Far Cry Ubisoft playground, it's better to have quick animations for picking up and the like. Those games want you to be rushing around from icon to icon, so having barriers to that is just going to make people annoyed. First, apologies for the drunk rant. I agree that in games that have pick up animations and such, it can be more realistic or immersive. But I had mostly oldschool 2D games in mind, where gold/health/whatever drops are simply picked up by touch. And for whatever reason, most of these games have a timer that adds a delay between the drop and you being able to pick it up. And it puzzles me why devs would do that. In games with a truckload of item drops, like Forager or Isaac, you constantly have to stop and wait for that pointless delay, destroying your game flow/momentum. The more drops, the more waiting, the more it frustrates me. It's literally the worst thing ever. One argument I could see is if it's done like in the aforementioned Golden Axe Warrior, the item may be picked up the same moment it's dropped so you didn't see what you just picked up. But look at Bloodstained, where you see the item symbol for a second after picking it up, and the name of the item is displayed in the lower left corner of the screen for a moment. Problem solved. That's just one of the many UI and QoL things Bloodstained gets right, and I love the game just for that, for the most part it feels like the devs actually thought about what they were doing. That's so rare. And thank God it doesn't have a pickup delay, that would really hurt a game like that with so many drops. Another thing I don't understand is why devs don't seem to ever listen to me. You'd think they'd appreciate my free advice on how to do their job.

For my English standard grade you had to do a presentation which counted towards your final mark/score.
I did mine on the Amiga demo scene, and held up a disk with Groove is in the Heart on it, didn't even play it, just described that the song was on the disk. Which seemed to impress people.
That song always brings up memories for me.

Probably not unpopular but I wish games didn’t have any cutscenes at all, or remove control from me at any stage. I can only think of about 3 or 4 where they were good and any that forces you to watch a cutscene for 10+ minutes at the start can fuck off.
Dialogue where your character stands there while you press a button to try and get through it quickly is equally annoying. Hardly any writers on games can write anything the slightest bit interesting.

Yeah. If your game has unskippable cutscenes, I have to assume you don't think your game has any replay value.

If there has to be a story then I like the Half Life/Portal/GTA approach of telling it whilst you're still in control of the characters, even if it's a relatively mundane section. If there's a cutscene then I tend to get distracted or skip

Yeah. If your game has unskippable cutscenes, I have to assume you don't think your game has any replay value. Equally i'll assume you think your story isn't worth paying attention to if I can't pause the cutscenes.

I love the thrill of not knowing whether or not pressing start will pause or skip a cut scene.

I love the thrill of not knowing whether or not pressing start will pause or skip a cut scene. I paused during a cutscene in RE8 and instead of having the cursor on continue by default, it was on skip. Had to redo the Heisenberg fight because of that
I'm sure there's loads of exceptions but I've always enjoyed cutscenes. Back in the day, they were used to show what things 'really' looked like beyond what the in game graphics could do. Especially in games like Final Fantasy and Command & Conquer. Always felt exciting and like a reward
There are also instances where I think I'd have prefered it if they used proper cutscenes, like when you're just standing around listening to someone monologue, like in Dishonoured. At least a cutscene can be a bit more dynamic

Love the sun and sunny days, but I don't like how light it stays in the evening in the UK.
It's alright when you're having friends around or a bbq but when you want to settle for a film it ruins the ambience.
Ideally I'd want sun all day and then it gets dark at 7.30.

I like cutscenes if they're well done. But they should never be unskippable.
That's my lukewarm take.

You can have your Chuck Berrys, you can have your Beatles, Elvis, and Rolling Stones. You can have the Madonnas, Princes, and Michael Jacksons of this world,... but the best absolute pure pop song ever is Gangnam Style. It’s Don’t Lose Ur Head from Six, which has burrowed itself deep into my soul and now it’s all I can hear.

That's like 100% what it's like here in LA. Well Actually. I mean, you have to stop caring about seasons to live here. It's 75% summer and 25% Spring here year long. We don't have the insane northern European or Canadian 24 hour suns but we also only know of snow as a concept.

Cutscenes you can fast-forward, pause and rewind are the best, though very few games do them. That way if you suspect it's shit you can FF through it, but if it turns out it might be something important you don't miss it entirely and you can always rewind and watch that bit again to check.
Also, as I tend to play games sporadically and forget what the hell was going on, being able to FF through the last scene brings me up to speed again without having to rewatch the entire thing at regular speed.

I love the late summer evenings in the UK. Great for BBQs and pub beer gardens. Or skating to the park and sitting under a tree and reading a book, as Lewis Carrol used to do.

I feel largely indifferent to the light late evenings, after 7.30ish I'm more than likely going to be indoors regardless of the time of year.
I like the lighter mornings though. I get annoyed when the clocks change in March as it means I'm back to waking up in the dark for another few weeks.
I'd gladly see the back of daylight savings but I'd rather we stick with GMT, not BST.
Unsure if this related opinion is unpopular - assuming I'm not in a ground floor flat, and assuming there isn't a bright street light outside, I prefer sleeping with the curtains open so I wake up with the sunlight in summer. Even in winter I'd rather sleep with the curtains open. And I hate blackout curtains.

I can only assume you go to bed at a reasonable hour if you want to be woken up by the sun blinding you in the face.
