Pearl Jam are great. Most of their stuff just hasn’t had the same sort of impact and coverage as the first couple of albums had, although they’re still huge.

I'm slowly wrestling my Deezer algorithm back from my daughter, after giving in and handing her the keys to Deezer on Alexa, with my account going through the Sonos. There's only so much Dove Cameron that I can take. I've never heard of Dove Cameron but their name is one vowel change away from an absolute pig-fucking disaster.

I missed the last five or so pages and have just caught up.
I can't get on with Spotify even though I have the paid for version for free so no adds - it is just missing a lot of stuff that I want to listen to. Also I still listen to entire albums most of the time (via Plex attached to my collection). I disagree with there not being decent new music, I love still discovering stuff and seeing if they are touring etc. Every Christmas I also buy Mojo, Wire and go through the best of the year lists to mop up stuff that has passed me by. So much good stuff still getting pumped out.
I like Wet Leg too, a bit of fresh air, though I think Nick is correct that it will be short lived. Same with Yard Act probably. Parquet Courts is my favourite new discovery of a band that has been around for a while but I'd never heard of.

She's the lead in a load of Disney films, especially Descendents.

They both sit on the boundary between alt-rock and metal. A fully patched-up longhair would probably tell you that they aren't 'true metal', but who the fuck really knows, or cares. Tool can fuck off. I don't mind their music, but they churn out the same hulking prog-metal time and again, and armies of bong-addled goatee-strokers proclaim it to be the most mature, superior, intelligent music going when it's just dolled-up prog. A bit like Radiohead in some respects. Uh-oh. I do enjoy a bit of Tool, especially when they use complex time signatures

I listened to a few moments of that Wet Leg song, too. Assuming it's not a joke (it's not a joke, is it? I mean, those lyrics are intentionally trying to be really "kooky", right?), it's not for me.
Now get off my lawn.

After a few listens Wet Leg's music is okay, if maybe too kooky. But I'm put off by the band name.
I just don't think I could ever like a band with that name.

I don't get the relevance of it. Does Wet Leg basically mean to piss yourself?

They are from the Isle of Wight I understand. Never heard of them, not that I am close to the music scene on the rock.

I like them. Have a similar sound to early stuff from The Strokes.

Papa Roach have put out a few bangers tbf. If you only know them from Last Resort they completely moved away from Nu-Metal shortly after and have managed to stay pretty relevant
By the way, I literally cannot believe that a forum of dedicated gamers can skew so old. You all sound like my Dad. I'm a married man with two kids and my first real experiences with my own music was MP3 downloads on Kazaa and Limewire (I learned about malware after...). Yes I even missed the boat with Napster.

I genuinely don't know how old I am most of the time, its either 47 or 48. That's when you know you are getting old...

If I didn’t own it before I was 25 and it hasn’t been released on Bandcamp then chances are I’m not going to pay much attention to it. As much through convenience and laziness as anything else. I’m super crap and finding totally new artists nowadays.

Some of you may want to sit down for this as I imagine you will be incandescent with rage, but apparently they called themselves Wet Leg because they wanted a name they could spell with emojis.

“We started the band just for fun as we were both working full time jobs that demanded a lot of our time and energy, so we took a little while choosing the name Wet Leg.
“We basically chose it after hitting
💦 and
🦵 on the emoji keyboard.
“We were playing a sort of game where we’d make band names out of different emoji combinations. Then we got to wet leg and it just kind of stuck.”
Those monsters.

I’d never heard of Wet Leg until this thread but I’ve just listened to a song on YouTube that they did
Not very good. Terrible songwriting but people will find the tune catchy I suppose. Nothing beneath the thin veneer. Seems like two kids on a school project that got noticed on social media
Will disappear within a year

Thankfully I was sitting down. I like that even less than the innuendo. Emojis have their uses but they shouldn't be the basis for a band name.

The combo of the naming and how annoying that Oh No song is make me want to cut off my ears.
