Yes but typically non parents spend years with all of their siblings, friends, peers, workmates who are parents telling them every tiny detail about their kids, problems with kids, worries about kids, pride etc. etc. So unless non-parents magically have no listening skills nor empathy, they will have learned a fuckload about parenting, that's not even counting babysitting family etc. Hearing about something is completely different to experiencing it. That’s like saying you know how it is being in space because you spoke to an astronaut. To an extent but hearing the astronaut's experiences will give me a good idea if I'd want to experience it myself.

Yeah, I can definitely agree with that. Seems that I've won the thread. Fuck me... Ecosse has said something I think I agree with. Time to ring Dignitas, my brain is obviously addled. It's a slippery slope now......

The thing is you do really never know whats going on. Some kids are indeed just little wankers but someone like my nephew looks like a naughty kid when he is out but he has turbo-autism and what are his parents going to do? Never leave the house with him?
(This also extends to basically everything. You dont know whats up with that person).

I'm quite okay remaining intolerant.
For real though, I've never once had a yearning or desire for a child of my own.

Im currently sat in my office where two days ago the cat dropped a live, wild mouse which ran off and we suspect is still in here but absolutely cannot find. So I would suggest that *all* cats are wankers.

The neighbors downstairs have a kid who's been a howler monkey pretty much for the last two years, including at night. I'm not sure how they haven't gone crazy yet. If that kind of patience is what it takes to raise a kid, then I'm definitely not going to even bother, because I know my limits. And if someone told to me "you wouldn't understand", damn right I wouldn't understand, I don't want to.
And I also never know how to behave around small children anyway.

I think the only legitimate use of 'You don't understand as you don't have kids' I've heard is when people try and explain to you why they would drop a couple of grand on a trip to Centre Parcs.

I like cats but absolutely hate them at the same time. Bit like kids, they are tolerable if they are yours but bad for the planet.

There are some genuinely terrible kids and parents out there, for sure. But there's a lot more people who are going through daily struggles that we can't see and can't know about. As for cats, we have one who's an absolute sweetheart and another who is the most capricious creature on earth. Like "come here and stroke me. ah, that's nice. Yes, yes I did just bite you hard enough to draw blood". Bloody cow.

I think this is a big reason why some people don't like kids, they're uncomfortable around them I do think it's odd that someone can't contemplate creating an actual life from a part of yourself and another person and bringing it into the world would change your perspective on something in a way you can't know if you haven't done it yourself. Reading books ain't going to give you that

The "you don't know what someone is going through" thing is the reason why I don't get too angry (well, at least not openly angry) with people who have kids running amok at my work. Insofar as I can possibly understand, I get that they can't have their kids just at home all the time, get that they might need a break sometimes.
But at the same time, leaving them completely alone in the library is not cool for anyone; it's not a childcare centre. All sorts of bad things could happen.

We can all stand to learn a few lessons from dogs.
Shit where you want. Lick what you want. Growl at everyone you don't know.

Dunno if I'd agree that all kids but your own are shit too. My boy is in a little under 7's football team and honestly every kid in it is great (except for one little pug cunt). They were in a tournament on Sunday and lost the final on penalties and it was more exciting than any international tournament I've ever watched.

Christmas food, actually any holiday food is just shit. If Christmas food was any good we would just call it food and eat it all yer round rather than inflicting it on ourselves just once a year. I'd disagree, it's mixed at worst, you could say some of it is pretty poor, there's a reason why people only eat turkey once a year but most people love roast potatoes and nice stuffing. French xmas food is awesome, oysters, foie gras, scallops, Yule log. And Japan has KFC, who doesn't love KFC? Bloody hell, I forgot to mention panettone, mmmmmmm. Nasty

Yeah, I find that I have infinite patience for nearly all other children as well now. There's something gratifying about watching their happy little faces. True, you'll meet the odd little bastard, but I've met more adults than who are utter cunts than children.

When you're saying you would have opted out of life had you known what it was I can see why you would feel like that.

I can't tell if the baked beans Christmas Dinner thing is true or not. Baked beans at Christmas can't be a thing. The weird shit people have spoken about on the forum has ruined my sarcasm detector.

Comment wasm't aimed at you. I don't see a problem with someone not wanting to have children- there's plenty of valid reasons, like just not wanting them

You seem incapable of being able to understand any viewpoint but your own to be fair Not at all but most dogs are loving, affectionate and loyal, most cats are selfish, loner shits. Objectively dogs are far better, the only plus for cats is that they require less maintenance.
