loto Depending on your gear, you can either pull some of those fuckers to their death with the string or run straight to their platform and punish them accordingly for threatening to drop you. Also, there's a shortcut lift you can activate at some high point that will bypass all of them and connect you to the entrance and the stargazer. It is a patience testing bit until you get there, though, I'll give you that

I’m stuck on the Archbishop. I’m supposed to be a Quality build but I think that just means my stats are too spread out - about 17 each in Technique and Motility. I’m using the Aegis arm cos explosions but he has a load of health, and I could have cried when he went into phase 2
Having a break, but fuck this guy

Yeah, probably want to pick one of those and grind some levels in it. And an equal number of not more in health.

loto Also, you should be able to re-spec at the hotel and try out a different, more focused built, depending on what upgraded weapons/arms you have available...

He’s done - cheers. Farmed for some thermite and used the levels too. Blitzed his first phase to keep spectre alive and then went to town on him in phase two. Dicey, but done
Loving this, but it’s hard. That long run in the cathedral with elites, rafters, rolling balls and platform sections can fuck right off. That definitely needed a mid point shortcut

Actually, there is a shortcut ladder that connects the entrance stargazer with the upper levels of the cathedral - that is if I understood you right...

Made more progress. Now between a rock hard clown and an Opera House boss, but this game is fantastic

This seems to be doing very well on best games of the year lists. I really must play it at some point.

Got to a council tip and a proper fuck you area. Chased by one of them clowns (bollocks to fighting those bastards) with lots of soldiers to stop me running through the tower.
This is an absolute class game, but they like piling on the pain.

This didn't make EG's top 50 games of the year. Ok.

This didn't make EG's top 50 games of the year. Ok. A lot of the top 50 feels like "Look at how different and unique we are" tbh... Lies of P is a big omission, but far from the only eye-catching one, and Cocoon, as good as it is, getting the top spot over both Baldur's Gate and TotK (and a few others I might expect there instead, for that matter) was certainly... a choice.

This seems to be doing very well on best games of the year lists. Just being given a complete, polished and virtually bug free game goes a long way these days.

Ok. Reached Nameless Puppet. How the actual fuck am I supposed to do the second phase I can’t react that quickly. I can get the odd perfect parry off, but he demands perfects all the way through. What a shitty end to a brilliant game. I know I can choose the cop out ending, but that’s a shitty trick to pull when I’ve come this far. /raging

Not going to lie, the Nameless Puppet did test my stress levels to their extreme and the worse part is that my winning video was not saved, so I haven't the slightest clue how I eventually beat him. As you say, the first phase becomes trivial at some point, but the second is pure evil...

Electric and lots of it. I used puppet string spam and kept my blade imbued at all times.

Cheers. It’s been a bit of a morning as did both Lax & Manus in one sitting. I thought Lax was a fitting final boss and I was holding on by the skin of my teeth at the end. Manus was ok, but hard to see what was going on at times and some of his attacks are cheap
I got NM below half on second phase, and I’ve got options. I was using the perfection grindstone, but it runs out in no time, although I have 2 charges, he’s so fast and relentless. I need to do better on first phase as using too much health recharges. I’ve got options before I even need to think about respeccing. Having a break, but I think the answer lies in perfect parries and dodges after learning his moves.

Is VRR still knackered on this?
Wanted to start it over Christmas but the screen was flicking a lot, especially on menus. Any workaround yet?

Did it! Rise of P ending. Don’t ask me how but switched back to my trusty trident and the latter stages were spent running around throwing anything and everything at him. I’d earned it after some perfect parries, blocks and dodges. Position seems to be as key as anything here; not too close nor far.
Relief
A really superb game that could just turn down the difficulty a bit sometimes. Hope there’s DLC /sequel.

Theyve confirmed both. Interesting enough, the original Peter Pan just made it to public domain. Could be an interesting addition to the Lies of P-verse considering Wizard of Oz looks like it will feature somehow

Cheers Tufty - great to read. For rhaegyr - I’m on PS5 and this was just beautifully smooth and glitch free from beginning to end. I came from lords of the fallen which is a hot mess in comparison, frame drops, lock on woes, crashes.

I think this might finally have beaten me. I have really enjoyed it, despite having some tough parts, but I have just got to a certain sub boss on a long street with enemies either side that I just can't beat. Don't think I've even got it to half.
I did Google my path and found I had effectively chosen hard mode using a technique character. I'm just not quick or consistent enough with the perfect guard. If I can respec I might give it another go but if not, time to park it. A shame as I was enjoying the world and story.

Dave_McCoy Are you talking about that bastard that patrols around a bonfire in Malum District? If so, you can run past him and find a ladder to climb up the ledges and take on his mates above, before facing him. But you do need to beat him as he opens the rest of the area...

Yeah, IF it is that fight, there’s a ladder where you can take the two shit throwers out once you reach the rooftop. You can also do a plunging attack on the main enemy, then run around back to the ladder. Rinse—-> repeat.
There’s always a weakness to enemies, electric for puppets, fire for carcasses, acid for humans that you can exploit with a grindstone. Farm for some thermite or any throwable and use that.
Good luck

It is that one. Thanks for the tips! I'll get my head back down and have another go.
At the moment, whilst I'm quick, the reach of my sword is pretty short. He's a bit too quick to charge in for a couple of hits before he's swinging back.

I remember it was a tough dodge + patience fight, where we circled around the bonfire thing. Learn his attacks, use the environment and go in for a couple of hits whilst he’s recharging then get clear.
Technique is great for him and almost all the bosses imo. You’ll be using a fast hitting weapon and could always try swapping it out for a longer handle back at the hotel - the blade stays upgraded and some are better than others. I’m still using the puppet sabre +10 with the fire axe handle in NG+…

As loto says, it is a tricky fight. Once you get rid of his mates above, you must be patient, circle around the bonfire and find some safe openings to hit him. No need to be greedy, keep your distance, get in, hit, get out and use your throwables.

I found the annoying thing was that it’s not too bad if you keep your distance and parry the extendo punch but when you finally break his poise, he’s more or less recovered by the time you close the gap.

Dave_McCoy Slight correction: you can avoid him completely if you are not up to beating him, as the locked gate besides him that opens up the rest of the area can be opened from the other side. Just run behind him and explore the back alley a bit for a room where two enemies are dropped from the ceiling. There's a another ladder in that room that takes you up and from that you can open the gate and move on to the rest of the mission. I was under the impression that he drops a key, but after consulting the fightincowboy walkthrough video, apparently he only drops an amulet.
