Will do, Spooky.

I did the same thing with the Rachni Queen I quite liked the missions around those labs. Its a shame that to modern eyes a lot of the locations feel so small, I’d have been happy with a longer, darker time there. I think Kaidan might fancy me but its hard to tell if its that or he’s starting to suffer from LA Noire face. His un-upscaled solid rock of hair coukd be weighing his head down. Hair in general is the worst but as I go on I’m spotting more NPCs who the texture upscale wasn’t so kind too. Mostly human ones but the little round chaps and some Turians (around the lower jaws) too.

I always have to play goodie two shoes. I just can't be a renegade no matter how much I want to. Every action in the trilogy is blue.
Apart from the reporter, she needs a punch every time.

Because I’ve gone Feros - Liara - Novaria I’ve not had a full squad very long but I always feel like the most natural relationship option is her. Its the only one that feels like it has a place in the actual story of the game. Unless I’m misremembering from my previous playthrough the psychic connection gives it a reason to happen.
But then, relationship mechanics can be a super weird fit in games anyway. I can only think of a couple I’ve played ever where it feels like it belongs.

I’m still Janeway-ing my way across the cosmos at the moment. I can’t really imagine how planning renegade would fit with the main plot without you looking like a total maniac

I’m just trying to reconcile Earth looking to submit Shepherd for Spectre status, as the best humanity has to offer, and, in a mix-up, they send this guy who was arrested beating money out of a homeless drug-addict outside a pub.

Humans have elected Boris and Trump to run 2 of the most powerful nations on earth. Electing this guy seems realistic to me.

Did Shepard always have an extremely visible ass crack in the original version is it a weird quirk of the AI texture upscaling?
I don’t remember her having one but any armour other than heavy and you can see what she had for breakfast in Legendary Edition

Were you referring to
the colonists, Shiala, or something else I haven't yet reached?
There is some pretty horrific murder if you're going down the always renegade road. I actually had to stop that playthrough at the end of Feros because I just couldn't go on after that anymore. It was too much.

Ah, okay. I spared all but one of the colonists - he/she got caught in the crossfire - and killed Shiala.

So I've stolen the Normandy - can I go back to the Citadel later, in order to tie up loose ends, or have I passed a point of no return?

Turns out I had indeed passed a point of no return - something to remember for a future playthrough!
I wrapped up ME1 at around 16-17 hours, and plan to start ME2 this evening.

Yeah, I did kind of blitz my way through it, albeit unintentionally! Re ME2, or what little I've played of it so far: the opening was amazing, and everything about the game seems like a refinement of/improvement upon ME1.

Re ME2, again: The first game was good - very good, if you could see past the omnipresent jank - but the sequel is freakin' amazing.
Thanks to all of you who steered me towards getting Legendary Edition - this is exactly why a Font Geek recommendation is worth more than IGN's entire annual output.

Virmire complete RIP Kaidan (as always)
Although this time I used him a lot pre-Virmire so it felt more like a main character sacrificing himself while I went back to protect the bomb than me just cutting loose a bore.

ME1 down
It was actually a smoother ride than I expected. Its obviously still a 360 era title but there’s nothing truly objectionable. Maybe a full remake rather than the LE remaster could add a fifth base layout to the side mission selection and tidy up the weapon modding I suppose. The upscaling to textures and models has been really well done in places and apparently not at all in others. When its good its genuinely on a par with all but the latest or highest end PS4 titles.
Characters, still great, although you spend less time with then than I remembered. The main quest is really good on its own and an excellent first act / world building exercise. The blend of gameplay and storytelling felt a lot more integrated than I thought it would.
Just a shame I can’t stay up late enough to start ME2 straight away tonight.

Of all the douchey things I've done in Mass Effect thus far, egging on the drug-addled volus, and agreeing that he should take on the Eclipse commander, may have been the most egregious. (Damned if I didn't laugh as the "biotic god" waddled his stumpy ass towards certain defeat, mind.)

Im a few hours in to ME1. First play through. I could happily play this all night if it wasn’t for the fact I’ll get woken up at 6. I’ve played 2 years ago and loved it so not going in completely blind. Yes it is clearly old, but it’s quality. The music is especially good. It’s pretty damn close to playing an episode of TNG, Voyager or Battlestar.
Even my weird pasty goth chick Shep is growing on me.

Fully agree on it feeling like playing shows like those. The moral grey areas of Babylon 5 or Galactica especially so. This evening in ME2 all I did was speak to Sheen, knock out a couple of mechs and potter about the ship. Over an hour with next to no combat.
