I should get back to that. I stalled out on the first game (which I think I've decided is just not very good, even with the prettier graphics), so maybe I'll just skip it entirely and get to the game I actually enjoy.

Anybody played the MELE on steamdeck and pc at all?
I started this last night on the deck and completed the opener on Eden Prime so not far into it yet when I tried to pick it up on the pc for a quick look at it this morning there was no save to resume. I've gone back to the deck and it's there for me to resume so what gives?
Apparently the saves are handled by the EA app not steam, because EA reasons.

Maybe it's local saves only because they're shared between the games or something? Or maybe that causes issues with the different directory structure between Windows and Linux? I don't know, just some random ideas. But yeah, maybe just EA app.

@crashv👀d👀
I just found this posted by a user Moskeeto93 on reddit.
So EA games on Steam that use the EA App don't use Steam Cloud saves. Instead, they use the EA App cloud save system. So something is not working on that end. If you force quit the game with the Steam overlay then it doesn't give the EA App enough time to sync the save files so you must exit the game through the game's menus.
Not sure if this helps at all.

Hmmm, I'll have another go and observe. I used the exit option within the game

When I exited the game last night on my Steam Deck, I noticed the EA launcher when the game closed, but it was only up for a couple of seconds. I wonder if Steam is closing the EA launcher too quick before it has time to sync the save file.
I would try playing it on my PC to see if I have the same issue, but that would involve downloading over 100GB of data, so I will give that a miss. Sorry.

Yep, exactly that, it shut down so much quicker the first time. This time I left the game on the ME launcher a bit longer and then exited and it uploaded it before being killed off.
I could resume on the pc.

Out of curiosity, not being a Deck owner, does the Deck have the facility to be connected to another machine so you can copy and paste the contents of the game folder into steamapps/common on the other machine, then have Steam validate the files to save you from a massive download?

Blue_MikeIn theory yeah you could whack it onto an SD card and then plug it in. Also, you can turn on steams download share or whatever it's called and it'll just transfer the game files from another pc on your network Steam>Settings>Downloads>Game file transfer over local network

In the latest version of this, they have altered the scene where Shepard speaks with Leviathan so that it takes the forms of Anderson, TIM and Saren Arterius instead of Ann Bryson, Dr Garneau and Dr Bryson's assistant. should be interesting to see.

Cancelled after one season with a cliffhanger ending. Calling it now.

I'm guessing the renegade choices will likely be toned down now.

Pretty much. Babylon 5 wrapped things up with a satisfactory conclusion though.
Mass Effect always had the problem of being a game about fighting the threat of omniscient cyber space squids from beyond the galaxy played out on the ground level via third person corridor shooting because chest high walls are the key to defeating such a foe.
Even if it was as simple as the ship to ship battles from Skies of Arcadia, you needed some kind of macro level gameplay for engaging enemies of that sort. Loads of people loved the Normandy, don't they think anybody wanted to direct the Normandy in some way? Even if it was bare bones and menu based, nobody expected Elite or No Man's Sky bolted onto their Gears of War. We got planet scanning instead.

You got to control it in 3 via the map screen before having to flee from Reapers.
Riveting gameplay...

I still think it’d have been neat if they did some mid-price ME spin-off games like an RTS for bigger battles or something

That would be good. Also Kart Racing.

A lot of IPs could benefit from doing spin offs in different genres. That Mass Effect online shooter looked alright. Also ME3s MP was pretty underrated.

Yeah, ME3 multiplayer was really quite good and well balanced.
Andromeda's multiplayer could have been great if it hadn't had such a heavy emphasis on microtransactions.

That should be mandatory for all games that feature annoying NPC characters I'm not allowed to beat up. They might even get me to pay for DLC if it's for a particularly disliked character.
There's Star Wars Masters of Teras Kasai of course as an (incredibly) rough example.

I remember when the best spin offs were chess games.

There should have been a third option with Legion in ME2. Recruit him, turn the platform over to Cerberus, or have the engineers turn him into a bike:
