I watched a film the other night, gave it a bit of a review on here, wrote some blurb but oh no sorry, my attention span ended after I turned it off, I was unable to say on what format I'd seen it it was just too much effort. Would have taken me 10 seconds. It takes maybe 7 seconds to read up on JustWatch. Definitely less than someone typing out what formats it is available on.

The Zone of Interest - Seen on a CINEMA SCREEN!
It's 1940s Poland and a lovely German family live next door to Auschwitz, they go canoeing and fishing in the local river, they tend their garden, enjoy their swimming pool and seem to completely ignore their dog but do they know what's going on in the death camp next to the house? Yeah because the head of the household is the very real camp commandant Rudolf Höss, oh and the regular gunshots and smoke are a bit of a clue.
It's a film about the banality of evil that unfortunately feels a bit too banal at times. I don't think it's a bad film, although some of the decisions the writer director made are very odd, the film starts with a completely blank screen as the "interesting" soundtrack plays for so long you think maybe the projector has broken, however I really don't think I liked it. It's a film I really have no interest in seeing again.
The ending is however one of the most surprising things I've seen, anyone who say they predicted it is a fucking liar.
So it's a very A24 film about people you'd be quite happy to see slaughtered, other than a few Poles everyone is a fucking Nazi including the kids. It's not in any way graphic but it's still rather horrible as it lets your imagination fill in the blanks. You'll probably need to get Googling after watching it too.

No Hard Feelings Jenifer Lawrence is hired to pretend to be a shy lads girlfriend and somehow fuck him into coming out of his shell. Totally predictable plot and a virtually humourless comedy. Plus a bizarre scene where a fully naked Lawrence fights 3 people on a beach - and they show everything. The entire film is unnecessary. 2/10 Just finished it. Wasn’t that bad, seemed very poorly written and directed early on but it did improve I agree that for a supposed comedy it was not funny apart from maybe one moment. The two main end leads become almost likeable and the piano scene was good definitely a 5 out of 10

You’ll need a few rewinds and pauses for sure

Is that the BHF on Park Street or Gloucester Road? Or is that too much effort.

Warcraft 3/10 It’s just so boring. There’s obviously potential for some sort of epic story (even one that isn’t necessarily very original) using the fantasy world but this isn’t it. I actually quite enjoyed this... I have on UHD blu ray.

Resident Evil Retribution
Somehow things continue to get worse. Alongside all the previous problems of the bad action and a plot that has completely shat the bed, we now have horrible martial arts choreography, some dreadful Barry and Leon cosplay and an Ada whose voice they redubbed because they thought she sounded too Chinese.
I’m guessing the figures aren’t adjusted for inflation because in pure cash terms these later films grossed more than the early ones at box office. Who are these people who paid £100-300m to see these films.

Gives me an excuse to bigtime everyone when I review something I saw AT THE CINEMA AS GOD INTENDED, YOU FUCKING PLEBS So yeah, I'll be putting that on my reviews now. Thanks freddie!

So anyway Past Lives (I SAW IT AT THE CINEMA AS GOD INTENDED, YOU FUCKING PLEBS) A Korean/American bittersweet romance thing, from first time director Celine Song. It was great! Really reminded me of other melancholy romances, like Lost in Translation (which I watched on Binge, oh wait do you guys have Binge over where you are, never mind), and In the Mood for Love (which I watched again recently on SBS on Demand, oh hang on that's an Australian streaming thing, fuck) Uh, yeah. Go watch it AT A CINEMA you fucking plebs 8.5/10

Batman (1989) (Tubi)
I reviewed this a while back as I watched it by myself, but now I've watched it with the kids and they didn't hate it, so I consider that a success. It's a bit lacking in action, but the music is awesome and the gothic design is still iconic. It managed to keep their attention, which I was slightly worried about.
I wanted to throw out some props to Vicky Vale who's actually a pretty good character. Everyone is great actually, although of course it's Nicholson who steals the show. And the car.
Batman Returns is still the best batman though.

It can be enshrined as Freddie's Law after he dies as a touching tribute and means to ensure other people don't have to suffer as he did

I tried Batman Returns again a year or so ago and it reeeeally didn't hold up. It was just too much. Very disjointed and lacking.
Batman 89 goes back and forth in my head. I loved it as a kid but then Nolan's first two blew it out of the water. Now, it has a kind of throwback charm that is missing from films.
Batman Returns is just too much like Burton doing a film that he didn't really seem to want to do.

I know he didn’t have the athletic crossfit build of a modern superhero actor but its a bit rough on Keaton to call him that.

Batman Returns is just too much like Burton doing a film that he didn't really seem to want to do. See, I find the opposite to be true. Burton’s Batmen embrace the ridiculousness of the whole thing. Nolan’s are for pub bores who spend 45 minutes explaining how he is entirely plausible in a real-world environment while you stare at your empty pint glass. People who liked The Martian, that sort.
