The intro is great.
The newest HD versions are actually pretty good. The only thing they don't have that you might wish for is widescreen. Unfortunately they dropped off Freevee before I even finished the first season.

I’ve barely even seen B5 myself. It’s just a funny line from the show.

That level of plot exposition during the intro feels very of its time.
It wouldn’t shock me at all if Pegg ends up in the animated B5 revival if it keeps going.

I think the joke is more that saying B5 is shit is an effective way to piss off the Bill Bailey character (and other nerds), rather than actually casting an opinion on the show.
The fact people get pissed off about the line only makes it funnier.

Bill Bailey doesn't like Babylon 5. It's the bloke in the other comic shop who does.

The fact people get pissed off about the line only makes it funnier. Absolutely. Except it wasn’t the Bill Bailey character that got offended. Pegg says it so he can get his old job back at Bilbo’s (played by Bill Bailey).

Just got back from Godzilla Minus One at the cinema. Fuck me that was bloody good. Didn't expect to get emotional in a monster movie (not about the monster) 😆
Loved the aesthetic, 1940s setting, the sound was excellent (some old school nods in OST) and creature design was very good. Very glad I caught this on the big screen.

Bilbo gets offended by his Tim replacement thinking Hawk The Slayer is rubbish. Which to be fair to not-Pegg is a more accurate opinion than the line Pegg uses to get fired.

Shame Simon Pegg turned into a bit of a dick. Friends with Tom Cruise. Openly saying he doesn't care about geeky films anymore.
“And that’s why we will all go to hell. Because no one will grow the fuck up any more. Everybody’s so plugged into being a child, you know?”
Yeah guys! stop fucking whining about films. Grow up.

The point is, I was defending the fantasy genre with terminal intensity, when what I should have said is "Dad, you're right. Let's give Krull a try and we'll discuss it later."

Series 2 of Spaced is definitely a step down and doesn't get nearly as much a rewatch as the first

Don't Worry Darling Not sure why it got such a bad rep outside of the controversy of the stars. It's a competent thriller, that while being derivative, still is a decent watch. Even Harry Styles doesn't stink the place up too much. Basically a decent ep of Black Mirror 6/10

I absolutely love them both but it is curious how much more dated series 2 is compared to 1. I suppose its how obvious some of the references are, specifically doing a full episode on the Matrix for example.
I think with Pegg the alcoholism (and his recovery) that came with his move to Hollywood really changed his mindset.
I do still like the glimpses of old Pegg we occasionally get in stuff like Slaughterhouse Rules and that Amazon ghost hunting series Frost wrote.

Was that Nick Frost show cancelled? I thought it was alright. I’d have watched more of it.

Spaced and everything else Edgar Wright has done is hugely overrated and frequently irritating.

Thread living up to its title today.
Anyway… Tell Them You Love Me - Sky (out in Feb)
TV documentary from Louis Theroux’s Mindhouse production stable following the case of a non-verbal and heavily disabled man taught to communicate by a respected professor and disability-rights advocate, and the fallout when she claims to have started a relationship with him.
It’s a good watch - all the better as it’s basically entirely told through interviews with the people involved. But you do realise fairly early on it really isn’t as grey as things are initially presented - the situation is pretty black and white. The shock is how some are completely blind to that.
8/10

But yeah, the scenes with the monster didn't disappoint and the soundtrack was great too. Speaking of, time to listen to some Pharaoh Monche.

Under siege - 8.5/10
I’d forgotten most of this. It’s really really good. Busey and Jones make a great villain double act and the set pieces, script and action scenes are spot on. Even segal is bearable. It should be held in higher regard really.
Not quite as good as die hard 2 or cliffhanger.
Under siege 2 next. Wish me luck…
