Nativity (1) It's ok. Managed to just about keep attention on Boxing Day afternoon. Not as funny as it could have been though.
PS/ I find it funny that all the channels seem to be showing Die Hard movies. I think BBC has #2, Channel 4 has #1, and iTV has with a Vengeance. After all those years of arguments about whether it's a christmas movie it seems that they all are. Even the one with no snow or connection to xmas.

Even better than I remember. I can't really think of a single flaw in all honesty (apart from Helsinki Syndrome). Isn’t that just a weird joke? The host immediately qualifies it as ‘as in Helsinki, Sweden’. Maybe. It's a very weird joke if so. In my memory, the joke was still on the newscaster but the expert had said Stockholm syndrome, and the host said 'as in Stockholm, Finland'. I'd obviously misremembered and corrected it. I don't really get why the expert would get it wrong...what am I missing?

TV experts aren’t very expert, I suppose. I dunno, I always read it as an odd joke that didn’t really land rather than a goof but maybe I’m giving it too much credit.

Having seen it recently, it still stands out for me as a fuckup by the production team on the movie. Tbf it also could be a joke on American's clichéd ignorance about countries abroad.

It's deliberate, the host gets the country wrong as well as the city then the "expert" corrects the wrong thing.

People are allowed an opinion you know guys. I mean I would say there are a handful of films that achieve 10/10 IMO, that is absolute perfection, Pulp Fiction for an obvious example (IMO). There are maybe fifty that achieve 9/10, it's then a slippery slide from then on ....

It really is the season of terrible film reviews!
Die Hard? It’s ok I suppose 7 out of 10
Sing 2? Cynical trash! 2 out of 10
The Super Mario Bros Movie? The worst movie I have ever seen! Awful 1 out of 10

We should move to a new system - avoid, recommeded and essential.

Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget.
OK but not a patch on the original.
6/10
Super Mario Bros.
Fairly bland. For all the stick Chris Pratt got for his Mario I thought he was a lot better than Daisy.
6/10

I mean the Die Hard films are great fun but they’re obviously not actually the greatest films ever right?
6.5 for Vengeance is about right. Maybe even a tad high tbh.

Ghostbusters
Prime's version always has weird colouration.
Anyway, some professors repeatedly waste public funds at their university and have to try their luck in the private sector. Thankfully, it's the 80s and there's so much credit wafting around due to deregulation, it turns out fine.
10/10
"Who does your taxes?" is a very valid question
Not sure it'd work in today's post-recession world.

No, great as they are, they're not. But I don't think it's worth getting too hung up on scores in a thread that rates movies Alien/s out of 10. Unless we want to apply rigorous construct validity in terms of how we assess movies here in which case bring it on.

Die hard 2 is a far better movie than Die Hard 3. I spent more time looking at my phone when I recently rewatched die hard 3.

Die Hard 3 and lethal weapon 3 are both films that I've watched way more than the other films in the franchise. In fact I'm not sure I've seen any of the other lethal weapons.

They are the more sanitised, made for a wider audience ones, so you always catch them on TV.
You think of lethal weapon as a knockabout buddy comedy but Riggs is basically on suicide watch throughout the entire first movie.

Been awhile since I've watched a Lethal Weapon, but yeah, that first one was excellent.
Also Lethal Weapon > Die Hard

Killers of the Flower Moon - 8/10
Covers a pretty wild bit of history that I was unaware of until now. It's stuck with me today and I'll be reading into it a bit more when I have a chance. Excellent performance from Gladstone*, and solid performances all around really (even De Niro isn't totally shit for a change!)
* I'm calling the inevitable best actress win now. Res dogs cast ftw!
Aporia - 6/10 An entertaining enough time travel (well, kind of) yarn. The last act is a bit ham-fisted and leaves more questions than it answers.

Howl’s Moving Castle 8/10
Film is great, Christian Bale is not. Stick with the Japanese original audio.
