I don't think I have ever seen lethal weapon 4. In fact, until it was mentioned I don't think i even knew it existed!
3 was the last one I think i've seen and i'm not sure i've even seen all of it. That was with joe pesci too wasn't it? I remember it being pretty shite.

I was lucky to have my first viewing of It's A Wonderful Life at the cinema, and get to appreciate just how funny it is. It looked incredible on the big screen as well. Brilliantly shot movie.

Riders of Justice 8/10 Not sure why I was expecting a straight revenge film but I think it’s an extremely dark comedy. Mads is great as the grieving military man that only knows one way of dealing with things, the rest of the cast are an amusing mix of oddballs. Yep, it is a quirky hidden gem. Mads crush

Leave the World Behind 4/10, poor acting, cliches all the way, awful characters. Took me three goes to get through it just to see what the fuss was about, wish I hadn't bothered. Yeah I can hear you out with any other criticism but it was not poorly acted.

I was tired and a little hungover today so ended up flopping out to that Rebel Moon thing.
Very Zack Snyder - pretty at times but basically shite.
Actually a half solid sort of first quarter. After that it was soooooo generic, a proper game and of sci fi/fantasy rip off bingo. Oh, this bit is from Jouse of the Dragon. This bit is from Avatar. This bit is from Kill Bill. This bit is from Mandalorian with a bit of edgy sexual threat thrown in to get a 15 certificate. A whole lot of it was like a distorted crap version of Warhammer 40K down to names and everything, but with none of its charm.
Characters introduced who then do nothing of note - Anthony Hopkins I’m sure will come out and slag this off later, and the General character - what a waste! He literally did nothing and then came to do a steal the glory speech after the main character had done all the fighting for him.
A right load of pish sadly.

Is it shit you can basically turn your head off and just let happen though? Thats basically what I did with Batista versus Zombies and it was better for it.
Or is it just excruciating? Sucker Punch excruciating?

Sucker Punch excruciating? It’s less embarrassing than Sucker Punch for obvious reasons. I enjoyed in a semi crap way the first quarter to half, but it just started to get worse and worse. However, yeah it’s a bit of an unsatisfying mess without much art - it’s possible to watch it on the level you’re describing though yes. And assuming you subscribe to Netflix it’s free.

Little White Lies - 3/10
Vapid people go on a vacation whilst their friend dies in a hospital. Confusing, boring, absolute dogshit. For some reason, I thought this was well received, but it also has terrible reviews generally. Should've saved myself the time.

Hardcore Never Dies - 7/10
It's the same young innocent gets led astray story that we've all probably seen dozens of times, but this time with a bit of gabber and 90s nostalgia thrown in. Fairly predictable stuff, but solid performances all around and fairly enjoyable despite the soundtrack (I wasn't a fan back in the day, and it hasn't exactly improved with age)

Spider man across the spider verse: 9/10
Really beautiful and fun animation, just enjoyable and engaging from start to finish. Need to watch the first one again to decide which I prefer, but it was really good. Looking forward to the next one!

When you watch all 4 back to back it’s actually a really good group of films with the same actors (even family members and police) in each one and a good overall arc for Riggs and roger.

Was he in 2? I don't remember that, 2 was ok though.
3 was truly shit, so i guess i figured 4 must be even worse & purged it from memory. If i ever see it on, then I will try to watch it.

A Christmas Carol: The Patrick Stewart One - seem to always end up watch a version of this every year and hadn't seen this one before. Some of it is a little cheesy, showing its origins as a 90s TV movie on occasion, but it is mostly great. Goes without saying that Stewart is brill as Scrooge. Not only during the grouchy phases, but the final few moments he is infectiously joyful. I particularly loved the moment he laughs for the first time in years, starting more like he is choking.
Also watched Chitty Chitty Bang Bang the other day. Very enjoyable, although it was a bit more plodding than I remembered it being. It takes a very long time to get to the car actually flying and the run time is only just shy of a Marvel-esque 2 and a half hours. Dick Van Dyke is great though and the big song and dance numbers are a lot of fun (I particularly enjoyed the one at the fun fair).

A very fresh faced Dominic West as nephew Fred too.

Just returned from watching Wonka. I enjoyed it enough, but it just didn't do anything brilliantly. Chalamet was very good, believable enough as a younger Gene Wilder version of Wonka without becoming a parody and getting it just about right I think.
Rest of the cast ranged from watchable to good (but no standout performances), could have done without Matt Lucas though.
Original film and Wilder still reigns supreme.

Zack Snyder's Boring Unoriginal Waste of Time
Not the official title but a better description than the real one. Take Star Wars, add a whole heap of Seven Samurai/The Magnificent Seven, a hint of Star Trek's Borg, spike it all through with Warhammer 40000 and sprinkle lots of other things you'll recognise, put it into a blender, then very slowly pour it out for 135 minutes not forgetting to garnish with sexual violence to add some zing when it's not running at about 25% speed. Get Sir Anthony Hopkins in to voice an admittedly nice looking C3P0 rip off as well for a laugh.
There's nothing original in this "original IP", you've seen absolutely everything in it before, no clever ideas or surprises it's absolute mediocrity, the only thing better than his last abomination is that it's not shot with a fucking terrible lens. The characters are forgettable (name any of them other than Kora a few hours after watching and I'll be surprised), the dialogue is garbage, it's written like a bad video game plot and one you'd hoped you'd not paid for. The action is occasionally decent and the final battle is almost good but that's about it really.
Snyder has ripped off far better creators to come up with this trash and somehow got Netflix to pay for it.
It also commits the cardinal sin when it comes to making a film, it's so fucking boring.
Some other films this year have been part ones and people have been annoyed they'll have to wait as they really want to see what happens next, after watching this no one is going to care.

Judging from user reviews on metacritic, it's a 0 or a 10. So the 10 guys are going to care. I guess.
It really sounds like exactly the film I wanted to make when I was 11 years old. And yet it sounds deeply unappealing these days.
Which is odd, because mostly I haven't moved on from being 11.

Shite sequels...
The Hard mit einem Vengeance
Great first hour. Absolutely dies on its arse afterwards. Stop when they nick a truck.
6/10
Ghostbusters 2
Watched with the RLM commentary. This is the mostly depressingly rote sequel I can think of. Even The Hangover movies at least changed the setting. A handful of amusing bits but mostly flat and awful.
3/10

Ghostbusters 2 isn't anywhere near as good as the first but it's certainly not 3/10. And fuck watching anything with the cynical cunts of RLM talking over it, I assume it wasn't the first time you've seen the film?

Hang on... you watched a movie with someone who isn't anything to do with the movie commentating over it? Why would you do that?? Why not watch it yourself and, shock horror, form your own opinions?

It can be entertaining if it's a film you've seen already. Although saying that I've only watched the rifftrax version of Roadhouse.
Seems a bit bloody daft watching a film for the first time that way.

I’m a big MST3K fan and have barely seen any of those films commentary free.
I’m pretty sure one of the four or five commentaries of the Shaun of the Dead dvd was zombie commentary.

Die Hard 3’s final act might be its weakest part but it still has Jeremy Irons shooting Samuel L Jackson in the most brilliantly nonchalant manner possible. I heart it.

Has anyone mentioned how Die Hard with a Vengeance started life as a Lethal Weapon film just to square the conversational circle?

And fuck watching anything with the cynical cunts of RLM talking over it, I assume it wasn't the first time you've seen the film? Ghostbusters 2 has a special place in my heart for being one of those movies where, as a kid, I'd go back to it time and time again. It's almost a film version of a Real Ghostbusters episode. Sure it's a cash-in, but little-me didn't realise that. In fact the only thing big-me doesn't really like about it is the how the Ghostbusters logo changed to the "2" version IN-MOVIE rather than just as a marketing logo.

Ghostbusters II fundamentally fails to make me laugh more than a handful of times.
The Louis Tully court room scene "The upper vest side" "I had part of a slinky but I straightened it"
It's just the epitome of cynical sequel. It adds nothing. It does nothing. Nobody in it is trying. It was made as a cash in for a kid's cartoon.
And to add to kal's point - I don't think any Die Hard sequel started life as a Die Hard sequel.

It would have made much more sense as a Lethal Weapon movie.
[edit] Ghostbusters 2, that is. Not Die Hard with a Vengeance. That's crazy talk.
