Dune pt 2 (Leicester Square IMAX, crappy seats right in the back corner because it’s still pretty much fully booked) Superb, loved it from start to finish. Hope they make more, the ending certainly had a few loose ends. 10/10 That's where I saw it on Monday. Cineworld nacho cheese is fucking shocking. Film was 9/10

That reminds me of the bit in Ghost World where Thora Birch (remember her?) briefly works in a cinema chain and can’t hide her disgust when she’s pumping butter on the popcorn.

Poor Things. Kinda loved this, definitely my favourite of the Lanthimos films I've seen. I'd never really noticed Emma Stone until Birdman where she was great, and she was great in this too. Whenever she and Mark Ruffalo were on screen I was thoroughly entertained, and I loved the sets, the soundtrack, and all the weirdness. I'm considering recommending it to a friend I know will absolutely hate it.
9/10, and that's a strong 9.

The Ghost and the Darkness - 8/10
Val Kilmer and Michael Douglas battle lions in turn of the 20th century Africa. Apart from kilmers accent this was really good, great cinematography, acting, lion action etc. a bit like jaws in structure too. I’m surprised it’s not remembered more fondly.
Sudden death - 7.5/10
Fire Marshall van damme takes his kids to the ice hockey Stanley cup final and stops a terrorist group headed by powers booth from killing the vice president and blowing up the stadium. Van damme has a fight in kitchen with a man in drag in a bird mascot suit. That’s as great as it sounds. He also gets to play in goal for a few minutes in the match. Really enjoyed it, van damme was so good in the 90s.

I’ll be interested to see what you think of The Last Stand. I always thought - JuggerVinnie aside - it was unfairly maligned. Nah it wasn't. It was fairly maligned.

Yes I watched the quest a few weeks ago. Solid 6 out of 10 for me and Roger Moore gives it an extra point :-)

I couldn't even muster any enthusiasm for it. It played things far too earnestly, I mean JCVD wanted Oliver Stone as director before he told him to politely fuck off.

I remember Sudden Impact Sudden Death being one of the better Van Damme movies. Isn't it basically Die Hard / Under Seige in an Ice Rink?
[edit] It doesn't have a very memorable name though

Little Joe 6.5/10
Random watch on the telly the other night. Slow burn sci-fi/horror/satire (I guess) about people in a lab that create a genetically modified plant that can't breed but creates a scent that can make people happy, if looked after properly. Really striking art direction and audio design which pulled me in with bold use of colours and framing with a minimal, unsettling score; but I felt a little dissatisfied by the end.
Perfect Days 7.5/10 (Cinema)
Another slow one, this time a slice of life Japanese film about a bog cleaner who quietly goes about his work in a very structured, routine way. He lives, or seems to, live in the moment, appreciating the smaller things in life but further more emotional moments are revealed in various interactions and situations. I kinda want to visit Japanese toilets now.

Nimona (2023) - 80/100 - For a story which borrows heavily from many that came before it, you might think it would be a bit predictable and formulaic, but I found this to be fun, tender and clever all at once. It looks and sounds great. Recommended.

I remember trying one of those in Hawai’i. Toto, was it? After hearing about them for decades, I was so disappointed. They didn’t even help with the cleaning at all, all they did was shoot warm water up your butt. Matter of fact, it made it worse because now when I wiped, the toilet paper was wet, so I couldn’t do my usual wipe, fold, wipe fold technique.
this is the poo thread, right?

He lives in Japan. Best give user Bill the 5 pounds. Perhaps user Bill has never used a non-Japanese bog and so he doesn't know how incredibly dull and two-dimensional they are by comparison? Perhaps he thinks all toilets come with kawaii rimjobs and j-pop?
