The still photos from above really don't do this damage justice 👀

Just for a change, it's pissing down here in Walthamstow. The dog walk is postponed for a couple of hours. 🌧️☔

Howling a fucking gale today. Had to go up to the attic just now and the noise was quite unsettling.

I was in Florida when Irma went through in 2017. Hurricanes are no joke. We got very lucky but was pretty scary

The Weather Channel's CGI of what could be coming Florida's way is pretty horrifying.

I moan about being married to a teacher and having to pay through the nose for holidays during the summer.
But I'm actually quite glad we were in Florida in August and not there now.
Fuck that!

Back up to a category 5 hurricane - and look at the size of it

According to the BBC weather page, we are about to have 15548mph winds in Norfolk.

"Has the Earth been scoured by winds of a previously unimaginable velocity? No? Then we might have a problem with the feeds..."
Or, as my mother put it this morning "oooh, don't go out in the forest in that".

Just had the Aurora Borealis over Leeds. Night sight camera mode only but got couple of ok photos. My mate round the corner, whose Northern low angle outlook isn't obscured by loads of his neighbours FUCKING TREES got some brilliant shots.

Down in Sussex with loads of light pollution still had some incredible views of the aurora. Great big red patch of it for over an hour, with it slowly morphing into two then three streaks across the sky. Then some white streaks started appearing everywhere all over the sky, not sure if it was STEVE or not but it felt like it because it was on it's own. Absolutely incredible stuff.

Some amazing views in my group chats up here as well but when I looked out there was only a thin red streak. Annoying as most of my friends live in the city but I’m in a village on the coast so in theory should have an advantage for this kind of thing.
Me and Mrs Simple are headed further up the coast tonight for something so hopefully it happens again as we’ll be driving through an area with no light pollution at all.

Has hurricane Milton not been as bad as people thought it would be, or are we just not hearing about it yet? The build up was at least as bad as Helene, and that swept buildings away and got a FEMA response. Milton news seems strangely muted for now.

Much warmer last 2 days, not much fun when biking to work with heavy bag with laptop.
While I have not been back in the UK long, I don't think warm october is common? last year was typical UK weather
