Surprised there is no thread for this, I'm a few hours in and it's really really good.

The constant team chatter in the videos put me off as it was trying too hard to be funny. Watched Giantbombs quick look and saw the space flying sections and just laughed. Completely on rails and requiring 0 input from the player to actually complete was enough to make me hold off till its dirt cheap.

If it was something to do with DC you would be screaming it's praise from the rooftops you weirdo.

This game is actually fantastic. I am about ten hours in and loving almost all of it.
The character interactions are some of the best I have encountered in video games (barring some of the combat lines, they are repeated constantly and can get a little annoying). The gameplay is solid if not spectacular but this game really is about the characters and they shine throughout.
Story is picking up pace too and I am having to deal with the consequences of my choices.

I wish I'd saved my money and not bought Resi 8 on sale. It's a bag of shite.
This is much more me I feel.

What's the difficulty like? My eldest wants it for Christmas but I'm a bit worried he'd blitz it in no time at all.

It's a surprisingly long game apparently.

Some of the fights are a bit long but if you do mess up check points are really forgiving. Apparently it’s a 15-20 hour game.

Surprised there is no thread for this, I'm a few hours in and it's really really good. I was searching for a thread about a week before release, couldn't find one (couldn't be arsed to start one) and thought we must have inherited the EG search curse! Anyway is it a Good game, good game ? it looks it. I will pick up at some point, the point being £30-35.

Good stuff. He platinumed R&C in a week. Don't know how the fucker does it. I miss those days of having 3-4 hours of free time every day. I’ll get this after the Christmas sale maybe. I’ve no time this side off new year. It looks alright, just not sure if the cut screens and slow walking will get on my nerves.

Yeah I agree Grax, the characters are absolutely brilliant with Drax being the standout for me so far. It's nice to see a game that looked like it was going to bomb be brilliant when it comes out as it's so often the other way round.
Also a single player game with no microtransactions is a rare thing nowadays.

I'm at the beginning of the end and don't really want it to finish, loved being with the Guardians and much prefer the Peter and Gamora in the game over the movie versions.

I'm 6 chapters in and finding it to be a bang average game wrapped in some surprisingly decent characterisation and facial animation.
Making slow progress as it just isn't really generating the excitement to keeo pulling me back in.

Yeah the janky looking combat has kind of made me decide to wait until it's cheap. Or at least until I'm drunk.

This is definitely a game to buy around Christmas time for me. Plus it'll be mega cheap by then.

Had a steam key for £30 on cdkeys in mid October so jumped on it, a little buggy with a xbox pad so playing it with a ps5 pad and no issues but the game itself is really good. Chapter 11 I'm on and enjoyed it all so far, even the constant chatter seems to fit ok.
The difficulty can be changed in all sorts of ways and is pretty forward thinking for all sorts of disabilities I'd guess.

If it weren’t for the genuinely decent dialogue (there’s literally a conversation for everything) I’d have binned it by now. Combat is ok, platforming/puzzle solving is awkwardly clunky, and the Milano sections are bafflingly terrible. The huddles should also have just been a quick trigger pull as well, firing off 80s music is fantastic, but the “choose the right option PS LOOK AT THE FLOATING WORDS” is just patronizing, annoying and way too long.

I played a few hours before bed every night and completed it. Loved every minute of it. The writing's strong, both in the banter and in the heavier dramatic scenes. The game is stunning on PS5, with some of the best art direction around, but that's not surprising coming from the team that gave us the last two Deus Exes. Pacing's good too. Stages are fairly long, but the constant chatter makes it so you don't feel a need to rush to the next cutscene.
I thought it looked interesting when they announced it, but I didn't think I'd enjoy it as much as I did. On my GOTY list. It's been a surprisingly space opera heavy year, between this, Ratchet & Clank, Metroid, Returnal, and if it counts, the ME Collection. Halo Infinite's next. Include films and TV, and we've had Dune and Foundation.
Good times.

Well you can't argue with a well informed counter argument like that.

Fact is a fact. Not that I have to defend my view from what I've seen of a game to anyone.
What's fun about watching a ship fly with you not even having to touch a single button to complete the level?

I mean, that's absolutely not a fact. It's both an opinion and false. You can say it looks bad or boring and that's fair, that's your opinion. But you do have to "press buttons" to complete the flight sections. Of which there are only 3 or 4, by the way. But you need to control the Milano so it doesn't crash into a wall or debris and explode, and you need to aim and shoot at the enemies during the dogfight section.
Now, what's a fact is that it isn't a flight sim. The flying sections are inspired by Star Fox, not Elite Dangerous, so they're on rails. But not touching the controls will make you fly into objects and die.

I wouldn't bother trying to discuss it with him, he is going out of his way to be edgy. I don't expect anyone to like the game and respect Grem's opinion that he isn't loving it. However when you have a potato stating "facts" when he hasn't even played it, he can go fuck himself.

Yeah, the Milano sections aren’t great in my opinion but they’re like about five minutes of the game in total.

I honestly didn’t realise this was an upcoming game, and thought any mention of it was DLC for that Avengers game I didn’t get. Hopefully there’s a good launch deal at the shops (now that they’re finally open)

One of my favourite games this year so far.
Only small fly in the ointment is the combat is a bit mashy. Great character dialogue too and story.
Helps if you like Guardians of the Galaxy (particularly comic canon).
