I carry a satchel with me when I leave the house. Mainly for my blood sugar meter, insulin pens and Jelly Babies. But I also carry spare masks, power charger and leads, plasters, pain killers, Imodium, clean pair of socks and a multi tool. The Imodium has proven invaluable over the years.

Also have a decent Leatherman, but that just sits on my desk due to the ridiculous locking blade law. I've never had an issue with it, tbh. It's super useful having a multi-tool, but no one has ever mentioned the locking blade thing, so I just keep it with me. In addition to my earlier list, I have to add a mask and hand sanitizer, these days. It might be time to start carrying a knapsack.

Yeah, the odds of actually being searched by a bobby on the beat (or even seeing one) these days are pretty much non-existent and I'm sure I could always come up with an excuse if needed.

keys on a lanyard - Front door and deadlock key, key to my dad's house, bike lock key, work locker key. Also have two bottle opener that looks like a key and a couple of phone SIM eject pins - useful when I need to reset router. Wallet - mostly just contains cards these days. Phone Facemask Hence my mantra of "keys, phone, wallet, mask" whenever I leave the house. If pockets allow, each item is in a different pocket - wallet and mask in back pockets, keys and phone in front. So yeah, nothing interesting at all. I literally have an identical mantra except I say money instead of wallet even though it is my wallet. I tap my pockets as I say it. I started doing this in my late 20s after locking myself out one time too many and it works. I should add headphones to it as they're the only thing I still sometimes forget. Very sensible re reset keys, I should add those. Personally I have my mobile, my wireless headphones (cheapish Jabra earbuds), my wallet, my keys and 1-2 masks. I used to always carry a penknife, a proper one, until like 2004 when I started traveling by air a lot (long story) and realized I hadn't actually used it for years and it was just making trouble for myself. The earbuds are amazing for me. I dunno if I'm just a klutz or a moron or its because of my ADHD but I ruined a pair of wired headphones about every 3-6 months before that, getting them trapped in doors, caught on things, and so on. Even "tough" ones didn't last long. My wireless ones have lasted like two-three years without damage or losing them so far, they were £50 but they've saved more than that even in £5-10 headphones.

Only if you're a whitey though eh? Sadly that is pretty much spot-on. The actual law in the UK (more or less) is that carrying a knife over 3 inches long, or any lock knife regardless of length (or many other odd knives), in public, is illegal unless you had "good reason". The court, not police or CPS finally determines what "good reason" is, and there's no real limits to it. So yeah, if you're a middle-class white guy, esp. 30 or older, you can probably claim you were taking your multi-tool to help a friend or just forgot it was in your bag or whatever. To actually get done, first to you'd need to get searched, then you'd need the copper to decide you were a crim and not just tell you off a bit, then the CPS would have to decide that a prosecution was in the public interest, which because you're a middle-class white guy, they probably wouldn't, then finally the court would have to not buy your excuses, which would probably be pretty good by then, what with having a lawyer and so on. And there's always the danger for the CPS/police that you go to the papers who will probably eat it up as "policing gone mad". Whereas I strongly suspect that a 20-something Black guy will have his "good reason" viewed very differently, especially when he'd make a nice knife-crime arrest for the figures.

Scary... my work computer is now blocking page 1 of this thread as its "knives and violence" or something similar. Judging from the above, page 2 will be blocked because of Drugs I've also just learnt what EDC is. I was worried that might bring up all sortes of dunious results on my work machine.

I had to google "EDC" then rolled my eyes and assumed it's an americanism.
RFID-blocking Wallet, House & Bike keys with bottle opener keyring thing, work keys with plastic loop thing so i don't lose them, phone, earbuds and mask/s. My backpack is usually full of all kinds of shit i "might" use in the day though.
I'll be glad when i get back on the bike on my "Work from Office" days as i can then throw the laptop and shizzle in the panniers and just have my small backpack for cycling.
Like some others here I usually have some random useless object i've picked up during the day on me too. Sometimes i find them months later in a side pocket and instead of throwing them away i just put them back.

Enough dog poo bags to deal with the 101 Dalmations after a curry. During lockdowns I ditched my wallet. Have also fitted a smart lock. So now I just have my phone, which can open my house and car, and has all my bank cards on it, and also monitors my blood sugar. Plus insulin, glucose tabs....(another T1! Waves Saul1138)

I had to google "EDC" then rolled my eyes and assumed it's an americanism. Likewise. To me it means 'electronic data capture' Keys, mask, fluff, possibly some golf tees. Phone and wallet when I'm heading out

Just been to the chip shop with only my car keys and my phone. Near disaster as their card machine wasn't working.
Car parking coins in the car got me out of trouble.

Must admit, I'm quite sad I wasn't treated to someone's arsenal of dragon emblazoned katanas and/or medieval maces and whatever while scrolling through this. I would put money on CyberClaw (remember him?) having that sort of hilarious tat.
I should add that I put my shiz to use, lots of reasons to own practical gear while clambering around in stage rigging and scene shops but I can't see the majority being all that fuck giving.

As per the joycons up the butthole thread, I went on a blacksmithing course and made my own hunting knife this weekend. It has now entered service as the official opener of Amazon Parcels.

That's actually quite cool. I'd like to get into a bit of blacksmithing.

Yeeeaaahhh the thing is, if I collated all the various khukuris, balisongs, flick knives, etc etc, lying around my house I'm just not sure it would be a good look for me

I would have made a knife on my blacksmithing course (others did), but I'd just bought a Kabar 2211 and I figured it was unlikely I'd be able to produce anything that good myself. It's got pretty decent balance for throwing and a serrated portion, which is useful if you're camping, etc.
Honestly, the fire set probably gets more use anyway. I'm going back later in the year for the second part and we've discussed axes, though. Obviously, those are slightly more difficult to make portable but I'm doing a lot of wood splitting since we got a working fireplace.

The first thing I do before getting out of bed is to strap a bread bin lid to my forehead. It's just too risky otherwise.

Probably the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever bought is my Cold Steel Gurkha Kukri in San Mai 3 steel. They don’t seem to sell them anymore but here’s some random bloke reviewing it. It’s very silly but could have your arm off youtu.be/P0pZbt09ddg

My mate has got one of these. He sent away for it from a company in tibet or something.
He's a funny old egg. He used to Keep a knife, a parachute (to sleep under), a power user sleeping bag, a hammock, rubber tubing and all sorts of shit in his boot and just used to drive somewhere random and sleep there the night, survivalist style.
The funny thing is that if you didnt know, the crap in his boot also looked like a kidnapping kit.
