I’ve never had a low battery warning from my Garmin, it’s just goes fucked up until I change the battery

I’ve had that a couple of times- heart rate is suddenly reported at 200%. It really is worth contacting Wahoo, I know several people that have had stuff sorted out of warranty in the past.

My new 'midlife crisis' bike is being dispatched. \o/ Right at the end of the outdoor cycling season Well, I guess if the weekend weather is benign I'll maybe get out until the middle to end of oct if lucky. Still, should manage a few cafe runs regardless.

What did you go for? I ended up seeing some refurbished Garmin Vector 4 pedals on sale for £400 the other day. Thought about if I wanted them, decided I did.... ended up ordering some assioma pedals instead.
The power is interesting but now I'll finally have a decent cadence sensor for when I'm on Zwift. The Kickr was super unreliable in that regard. Could jump from 60rpm to 120 and I've done nothing different.

A Dolan Tuono with various extra add-ons. Maybe should have gone for deeper rims, but it can be quite windy out here, so went for 30mm ksyrium in the end. Ach, If I'm not happy I can splurge for a deeper carbon set next year or so. I've booked a couple of days hoiday for delivery and test-run. I just have to hope the weather stays reasonably benign. Xmas has come early and I'm almost counting down sleeps...

It arrived a day early!
Result. Thankfully i was able to be in, due to the boys football being cancelled due to a ref no show.

Next issue, the integrated/aero handlebars won't take my elemnt bolt mount ffs.
Going to have to buy another stem mount i guess.

Nice looking. Very similar to the carbon Ribble CGR. Integrated bars usually need a lollipop type mount with a couple bolts under the stem, K-Edge do one for the usual too expensive price.

I have ordered a wahoo aero/tt mount. Think it looks more like it will fit. Failing that it will have to be an expensive mount i guess.
I could cable tie the stem mount, but that kind of defeats the purpose.

Wondered if anybody wanted to take a navy Rapha Core rain jacket (S) off my hands? Was a Christmas gift, but I already have an alternative. Just cover postage!

That’s extremely generous, not an S unfortunately

Yeah I would have definitely had it if it was a medium. Not that I've been out much since autumn.

Was wondering why my Rapha order from last Tuesday hasn’t arrived yet, checked my account and it hasn’t even been shipped apparently, then I saw the words “standard shipping with Evri” and it all became clear

Ordered a rain coat and some sunnies from them last year and they took ages to arrive. Took ages for them to official exchange my coat as well.

Beautiful morning for 50k, still slow but the saddle doesn’t feel like a bag of spanners and my posture is less of a disaster

I have to be off the bike for a few weeks but I sort of want to complete the Tour of Zwift. Got a bit of swelling on one of my sitbones from where my saddle height was wrong and saddle was aiming up.
Looks like I have grown a third testicle. Lovely stuff.

I've been toying with the idea of getting a MTB through my work scheme. There are some pretty cool trails I could take it on around here, and I've got no real interest in road riding so MTB rather than road bike makes sense for me. Am I mad for considering just going straight in for a fairly expensive (£1k+) one?
Or do I just go for something basic like the GT aggressor that popped up on HUKD recently (£250) to start me off, or maybe a Trek Marlin 5 (£500) which seems to review well.

Not mad at all, like most pursuits in life you’re better of spending as much as you can justify when starting out. You won’t enjoy riding on a piece of shit, it’s bound to fall apart in short order and you can always sell something half decent if you don’t enjoy it and get most of your money back

Have you looked at gravel bikes? Much more fun and versatile than mountain bikes imo.

I would echo Decks' post. I am most likely binning off my MTB for a gravel bike when our works cycle to work scheme starts in a few months.
However, it totally depends what you enjoy most though, if charging round berms, jumps and stuff is your thing, then MTB all the way. I'm mostly roads and rough tracks etc at worst these days rather than proper mountain biking, so don't need that type of bike anymore. The gravel bikes seem a reasonable compromise for a 'fun' bike to cover most stuff I need it to do without getting my 'best' bike mucky.
The missus will be ecstatic about this news when she hears- since between indoor trainers, my midlife crisis carbon road bike and now this, I could probably have bought a decent car.

Cheers, I'll have a look. Yeah, it'll mostly be dirt paths, not ramping off stuff like a maniac these days sadly.

Just in case my wife reads this, I should also add that I sold two bikes last year, so am down an older road bike and a singlespeed and will be minus the MTB eventually too, so I think I deserve that new bike feel.

Gravel or CX bikes will be less hassle to maintain and cheaper than an equivalent MTB for sure, good all round bikes

Arse. Turns out the work scheme only covers £1k instead of the £5k I thought. Limits my options somewhat considering I was going to use it for accessories too. Suppose I can always apply for the full £1000 and just pony up the rest myself.
