180cm on a medium Aeroad fwiw. Perfect fit. I'm banned from buying another bike for a few years but I think when that ban is lifted (probably after we buy our next home) an Aeroad SLX will be the bike I go for. Canyon's just seem to offer bonkers value for money. I'd love a Madone or Tarmac (deep down a Cervelo) but when you look at what you get for the money and compare to Canyon, it's a hard sell.

Mine is the SL version, 2019 and was £2600. Came with 105 for that money, which smarted a bit but I didn’t want to pay the extra £700 quid to save a few hundred grams. I do love it, it properly zips down the road on the flat. It’s a proper rocket that you can genuinely feel. It’s perfect for crits, fast chaingangs and grand fondos and, of course races.
But I’ve got a slightly long in the tooth 2016 Cervelo R2 I bought for a grand years ago. Scratched up, repaired, rim brakes, slightly old fashioned now but I prefer it over the Aeroad to be honest. Whereas the Aeroad is absolutely quick, the R2 just feels nice to handle and move around under you. Difficult to quantify but I just absolutely love everything about being on it.

If I’m going out with the fastest in my club and going to be on my limit or I’m doing any events where every second counts then I’ll use the Aeroad, all other rides are on the R2.

Yeah I've ridden my friend's Aeroad and it handles like my TT bike. Fast but it doesn't want to turn.

Might have changed now but for a good few years it was the bike with the most KOM’s on Strava, probably fairly straight ones!

Are there any decent bike options for girls?
Mine is 12, so probably just about old enough for an adult bike. But the only options for girls seem to be those 'dutch / grandma' ones with a basket, that seem designed to go to the shops down the road.
She's not a serious cyclist, so that's not terrible, it's just kinda boring. She kinda wants a cross bike like mine, but of course they all have high crossbars.
Toys'r'Us has some decent girls bikes up to 24", which are closer to mountain bike style, but without a crossbar, but they don't seem to go up to adult sizes.
Maybe it's an engineering issue, but it seems weird there aren't many more sporty/active bikes that would also be ok if you need to wear a skirt at times.

I can’t really think of bikes that are at the nicer end but have a dropped top tube, for girls specifically. It does compromise the rigidity a touch but I think it’s really that sporty bikes are supposed to look like the traditional two triangle setup, it’s expected. And more serious types, even kids, are probably wearing cycling shorts at that point. Could look for a more compact frame, I.e. a more sloped top tube perhaps.

You are kind of after 2 different things in the same package, practical for wearing normal clothes, and sporty where you will be wearing cycle kit. I think the nearest you will get is a hybrid, something like this, if you want adult bikes. Liv are Giant's women specific brand. www.liv-cycling.com/gb/rove-4

Thanks both! Yeah, that Liv one is kinda what I had in mind, though I'll have to see if they're available here. The closest I've seen is the slopey frame ones, which are few and far between. It seems to basically break down into something like this
or something like this: With nothing inbetween.
Life in Tokyo is much more cycle based, but in terms of short trips to the shop/station/school rather than as a sport/hobby.
So I guess the first type would be more practical... but it's rather boring and not much fun for the weekend.
If it was a boy, I could get the latter type and stick a basket on it, but that doesn't work for a girl.
Maybe it's cos I have a cross bike, but I stuck a basket on the front.

Depends on what bottom bracket standard she prefers.

What sort of bike do her friends ride They're all girls so they all ride the dutch style bikes, because that's what girls ride. She's seen my cross bike and wants one of those tho. Given how sexist society here is, I feel I must be doing at least something right Whoa. Nice, but that costs almost as much as a month's energy!

Just wait a bit- it’ll soon cost as much as half a month’s energy.

Did one of the last of the Zwift classics events last night and was checking the results later on. The geezer who was third, had a W/kg of 3.odd, however, this was at 98W avg, meaning they apparently weighted about 30kg. No HRM data too obviously.
Now, from what I remember, our teenager was 40kg a good few years ago, so we were all either gubbed by a ten or eleven year old, or someone is really taking the piss with their weight-doping!
Surely zwift shouldn't even allow that low a weight to be put in on an adults account. Not that it really matters, since they didn't end up on ZwiftPower due to being a massive cheat.

45kg I think is minimum, or it was. They probably set their height to minimum as well, which makes a big difference as they assign you an estimated cda depending on your height. I guess they could be using a wheel on non-smart strainer as well, where Zwift plucks the power data from the air.

Lots of that on Zwift sadly, fortunately it rarely gets past the likes of ZwiftPower or any sort of remotely important race/league. They seem to be using auto-cat across more and more races now as well, which stops the sandbaggers at least.
I had a guy the other day, 50+ years old, weight seemed normal enough but he was chucking out nearly 500 watts for 90+ minutes with a max heart rate of 125. Something clearly amiss, probably on an absolute unit of an e-Bike I presume.
Been off Zwift and cycling in general for 4+ months recently as I've been getting back into running, but been doing the Off The MAAP stages the last few weeks. Amazing how much power you lose after a 4 month break, my power has cratered by about 40+ watts I'd guess.

That's exactly what I thought. Why? You're cheating yourself and everyone else.
The mentality is very bizarre.

Something clearly amiss, probably on an absolute unit of an e-Bike I presume. Did they have a lighting bolt by their wattage? That apparently means it's a smart trainer or power meter verified power. If not its cadence/dumb trainer derived and could be well off. I would not be surprised if some sad sacks are e-biking it up on zwift though. He was in the age range - I have never been overtaken by a younger than 50+ person on an e-bike whilst painfully slogging my way up a hill irl yet, so ebikes are definitely an old person's game!

Just can’t imagine sitting there on your rigged bike, turning out 500 effortless watts and actually being happy with your life

A lot of people do that on Peloton and Apple Fitness. Start a workout and then just let it run so they get the “500 workouts!” achievement crap. My girlfriend did a challenge against a coworker and he just started a yoga workout for three hours to boost his stats.

I've had two valves, different sorts, puncture on two bikes sat in the garage in the last two weeks. Really strange.

Yeah definitely a power meter, if memory serves on that race ZPower users (cadence sensor etc, not to be confused with the similarly named ZwiftPower website) weren't even allowed above D cat. Probably just either a horrendously calibrated power meter or an e-Bike would be my guess. But as said before, seems utterly futile, just not sure what people get out of it. At least they rarely get past the likes of ZwiftPower or anything approaching a moderately well organised race.

No idea what happened, but my HRM went crazy today. It was fine to start with, albeit reading a little high, then about 20mins in it went to 220-225bpm.
Given my max is 194 these days due to being old, that would suggest i was having a coronary event rather than taking it fairly easy.
Taking hrm off for a bit didn't sort it, but I stopped my recording at the coffee stop and switched it all off & on again. Worked fine after that. It's really odd. Sometimes does it with zwift too, though that's easier to stop and reset rather than when on an IRL ride.
Sign my batteries are going, or weird wahoo tickr shit that others have seen happen?

Your head unit should give you a notification if battery is low, so I'd say likely faulty HRM. Contact Wahoo support, they are pretty good at just replacing stuff under warranty.
