I don't wash my gloves. To be fair it wiped straight off. And she looks pretty sexy.

Almost got some orange ones but doubt I'd be able to get the exact shade to match which would just irritate me. Isph.jpeg

That's why elstoof is one of the few running white tape. I'll stick with my manky black tape.
Maybe give it a wee wipe down every few years! 😀
Edit: as in a small wipe, not douse it with urine.

Dirty white tape looks cool though. Like it’s been properly ridden

Definitely wash the gloves regularly. Otherwise.... Ew.

Trench fingers.
I have some leather/suede ones i bought in italy years ago. They still get a hand wash reasonably often.
The water is, interestingly coloured if left too long, so definitely wash your gloves regularly. Ditto with running gloves.

Lovely weather in the flatlands at the moment. Perfect for some nice after work rides (and an obligatory bike-against-bench pic).

Swallowed the first largeish fly of the year today.
Hope it hadn't been on anything too manky beforehand. 😀

I’ve never actually swallowed a fly cycling. I think because I keep my mouth closed to show others how I’m very much not suffering

I think it was a bit suicidal tbh or very much on the worst flightpath possible.
I was pechin' up a hill, it just blazed right in the small gap of my open mouth & straight to the back of the throat & then down.
It's not something that happens often. Usually if it does i can catch 'em & spit them out again. Not today...

Probsbly still flying around above the gastric fluids. I’d do a cartwheel or two if I were you

I got a fly in the eye on a descent yesterday. Wasn’t a great experience. I left my sunglasses on my bedside table and I was 5k out before i realised I didn’t have them on.
Had a really gentle 30 mile ride last weekend and was fine, upped it up to 40 yesterday and just knocked it back a bit on all the climbs. One other guy missed a month of the bike with covid as well at the same as me, so it’s been quite easy to not fall into trying to keep up with the others. Just been freewheeling at the back with him. Probably owe a few coffees to the others mind you. 😂

Getting the ball rolling for some new wheels courtesy of our cyclescheme plan
Decided I'm also going to try tubeless. I say try, I have no choice as the wheels are tubeless only. What sealant is everyone who has gone that route using? It seems like Stan's No Tubes is the go-to but maybe you know better?

Stans race sealant is the standard afaik. Tubeless only wheels would suck though, sure you can’t put a tube in there? You’ll be screwed if the sealant doesn’t take. Are they hookless?

Yeah they're hookless so I presume tubeless only. I think you could put a tube in to get home but the lower required pressure would just give you a pinch flat? My thought at least

I wouldn’t use tubes (apart from the get home) with tubeless tyres- there’s no point in having thicker tubeless sidewalls, and that extra weight, and then adding a tube too.
I’ve used loads, never that impressed with Stans, I think they’re just marketed heavily. Orange Seal Endurance has worked best for me. It’s odd stuff- thinner than anything else but it seals awkward rim/tyre combos or leaky sidewalls better than anything else I’ve used and the tyres hold pressure better between use too.

I'll go with Orange Seal then, I'll blame you if I can't get it working!
Also need to buy a decent pump as my track-pump has decided to give up the ghost, perfect timing...
So I'm thinking of grabbing a pressure device thing to make sure I'm at the right numbers, anything else I need for the journey to tubeless?

The pressure blast chamber thingies are ace, really take the stress out of it, even better if the pump has the facility built in.
It’s still a system that needs a bit of tightening up- years back I’d have hour long sweaty nightmares trying to get tyres to seat and stay inflated, but the last four or five wheels I’ve done have worked first time. Perhaps the rim and tyre manufacturers have finally got their tolerances down better.
A valve removal tool is needed, can grab them cheap on ebay, it’s often worth putting the sealant in, removing the valve core and inflating that way so you can get the biggest rush of air. Once seated you can put your finger over the stem and quickly screw the core back in, it’s usually still inflated enough to stay put. I’ve also got a plastic syringe and a little tube just to inject the fluid in through the valve, but some sealants come with something like that, and otherwise you can get the tyre on the rim, pop off a small section and tip fluid in that way, still works.

Thinking these bits will get the job done? Think I may have to concede that the tyres I want wont be in stock for a while. Or knowing my luck, I'll pop an order in and then they'll be in stock!

Man, this tubeless malarkey really seems like another world. I haven't tried them yet, but am tempted for this apparently mythical new bike I'm going to get.
Between the missus' home renovations and now new plans for a kitchen upgrade, along with rising bills it gets further away on an almost monthly basis...
Sad face.

It has a burst tank which can be filled up to 160PSI and released in one go - so I'd presume that would do the trick?
I'll grab one of those too!
I just need work to hurry up and approve my order. I want my new wheels!

Yep- you just need a “shot” of air that pushes the tyre out and against the rim, delivered quickly. That sounds like it’ll do it.

Take the valve core out of the stem to maximise airflow when seating the bead, then reinflate after putting it back in

Silly question. If that thing dumps 160psi what will happen? Zipp says the wheel shouldn't be used above 75psi or something like that?
Would it just blow up in my face or would I have time to take the air out back down to 60?
