Isn't that basically what Wilds will be?

It had largely slipped my mind as well, along with GTA6 - announcing a game in 2023 with a vague "2025" release window will do that.

Yeah agreed. And you know it will slip at least once as well.

Having finished BG3 and not wanting to immediately start another play through I've gone back to Monster Hunter Rise. I love MH games so much. Decided to focus on completing the platinum for the base game rather than get too distracted by Sunbreak stuff. Thankfully my first attempt at the Apex Rathalos rampage went better than I expected. Sadly the rapid run through the fishing didn't yield the expected trophy. So, I've got all the gold crowns both large and small. And I *still* have grinding to do! Haven't got all the hanging pendants or killed 1000 large monsters.

Oh, and I've only done 21/50 rampages. Trying to do one a day to get through them.

Godspeed. I hated rampages, they just felt a bit pointless and arbitrary. I was pleased Sunbreak ditched them

I'll confess, having played a few more they are quite fun. I've worked out how to use the Wyvernfire Artillery a bit more effectively. And of course, I'm only playing the LR 2* rampages so they are a doddle!
I think a regular group of four could have a laugh with them as people will know what they are doing. I did some with user brokenkey on the Switch way back and they were more fun because he had a clue as to what was going on.

FINALLY, I have done 50 rampages... (Actually, I came to write enjoy them, but not 50 of the fuckers!)
So, all I have left for the platinum is 1000 monsters (done about 950) and those stupid random trinkets from the lottery.
Who is the sadist at Capcom who insists on always putting this RNG shit into the trophies!!!

Ugh tell me about it. About 1100 hours on World and I have maybe 30% of the crowns needed.

I managed the 1000 monsters over the weekend, so now it's just an interminable wait for the trinkets that I need. I think there are three, but there's also a chance of getting Sunbreak trinkets. Meanwhile, I have the trophy for MR quests despite not completing all of the 6* ones, and I got the trophy for Anomaly quests yesterday once I completed the lvl4 quests (well, one off the top). I wonder if the top ranks quests were added later as part of a TU. I tried Primodial Malzeno a couple of times. Blimey he's tough! Failed within about 5 min using DB, had a couple of tries with Lance and got him to 'capturable' on the second try. Want to get the Gaismagorm lance as it's reputedly the best one due to huge purple sharpness bar.

I really like the design changes for this one - the hunters look much leaner and more modern while still retaining the fantasy.

I can celebrate that rather than force palico voices on us, I can choose to keep the "meow-meow-meow".

The more I read about the new stuff in the new game, eg focus mode allows you to hit where you are looking, the more I think that's just stuff that was already in the game.

Hunting Horn video now available.
Is there a parry-centric weapon in the Monster Hunter series, like the Bladed Wagasa in Wild Hearts?

Yeah, lots of weapons have shields, but non really results in a block creating an opening that could describe as a traditional gaming parry.

Yeah, lots of weapons have shields, but non really results in a block creating an opening that could describe as a traditional gaming parry. Yeah that's a better way of putting it. Charge Blade is the closest as Guard Points block the incoming attack without interrupting your own, and are pretty damn strict on timing. Still don't create an opening per se - that's what flinches, breaks, flashes, traps and downs are for. A parry weapon could be OP in this environment

Gunlance, my beloved. Game's looking good. I've only ever played World and Rise in which I was Dual Blade/Gunlance and Hammer/Light Bowgun so I dunno what I'll pick for Worlds yet. Insect Glaive always seemed too weird to me as cool as it looks, maybe Charge Blade and Bow this time.

How viable is a Wagasa-only playthrough of Wild Hearts - anyone know?
I've been umm-ing and ahh-ing about getting this game since it came out, but it's less than £9 at The Game Collection and I'm almost done with Stranger of Paradise!

I believe performance is err not great. I think support for it was abandoned pretty quickly.

Performance was reportedly dismal on all but the highest of high-end PCs. Not sure about consoles. Yeah, the plug was pulled six months after launch - a real shame, as it was the only one of the MH-like games I've seen (God Eater, Dauntless, and Toukiden) that actually looked good. I think Tuffty is the only one here who has played it!

I think on consoles it was functional but not great, I believe it was properly gimped on Series S.
