UHD streaming seems to have been broken for at least a day now without Amazon noticing. As has been noted, the discrepancy between how much they spend on content and how little of a shit they seem to give about the way it's delivered is pretty amazing.

Only seen a review which said it’s effectively just a new season of Bosch but a little more screen time for the daughter and for Honey Chandler.

Bit off topic, but I have questions for anyone who has a newish Fire Stick and kids: I heard the new ones have different profiles for kids? I have an old one, so there's just one PIN to enable pretty much everything. (a) Can you set time limits for kids? I have a newer Fire Tablet and on that you can give each kid their own account, and set time limits. (b) Can you set different age limits for different kids? (c) Does all this work *without* signing up to the Kids+ service? I'm pretty sure it would, as it does on the tablet. The kids+ service just enables more free content for kids
(d) Can you differentiate between apps?
I'd rather give them unlimited iPlayer access, but time-limited Youtube access. Ok, I got a newer Fire Stick, so, to answer my own questions in case anyone is interested. (a) You can set daily time limits for kids, and they're shared with other devices like fire tablets. (b) You can set different age limits (or at least guidelines) for different kids. (c) It works without paying for the Kids+ service, but if you pay for that then you get lots of age-appropriate videos. (d) Unfortunately you can't differentiate between apps or types of apps. So you can give them a 1hr time limit for 'video', but that only applies to amazon content. You can also give them a 2hr time limit for 'apps', but that will include iPlayer, Youtube, educational apps, everything. Which is kinda annoying, because they have a few study apps on the tablet, but those use up the same time as watching junk on youtube. Overall, it's ok, and its better than nothing, but it'd be really sweet if you could assign different apps to different categories, and then set individual time limits for those categories. ---- side note: Setting up a new stick with 3 profiles, each with about 4 apps, means needing to authorize everything 3 times. So that's about 12 times signing in to all the apps and entering sign-in codes or email addresses and passwords.

Im really enjoying Bosch leg. It's more Bosch which is always good.
Maddy gets more time and character development and it also deals with the aftermath for honey. It's very good with some cameos from characters past.
What isn't good is this whole freeveee thing it seems to have been farmed out to. Massive fucking freevee banner in the bottom corner, no 4k, no HDR and fucking adverts. ADVERTS!
Seriously doing this show a disservice

I've been enjoying Bosch: Legacy.
I've only ever had one short ad in each episode and it's been the same one everytime - for Amazon's something ark game. Yeah, I paid loads of attention to it. It has new Glavier class, that's all I can recall.
If I was being served several ads everytime it'd be annoying, but seems ok at the mo (for free).

FreeVeee(imdbTV) seems to be quite in flux at the moment. At first I got basically no ads. Then there was suddenly ad overload. Then it went down to a reasonable level. I've lost access to it entirely at the moment, so I have no idea the current state. Up til that point, I hadn't encountered any banners.

Compared to All 4, Freevee adverts are nothing in comparison.

Compared to All 4, Freevee adverts are nothing in comparison. Yeah I’ll take Derren Brown taking 20 seconds to tell me about a podcast over All4 and ITVHub putting in full length ad breaks all day

Marvelous Mrs Maisel is just brilliant. I've cained the first season in a day (pretty much). I'm not going to burn out and will start to pace but I couldn't help starting ep1 of season 2.
Just can't help rooting for the lead character.

It's one of those shows like Buffy that a lot of people wrote off on the name alone. I've recommended it to lots of people, and they tend to quirk an eyebrow at the name and then never actually try it.

Yeah, I feigned indifference when my wife wanted to watch it. She watched one, said I'd love it but I still shrugged. It was only when I happened to be in the room when she was watching it that my ears pricked up and started paying attention to it. One of the best new things to emerge in years.

This is a question rather than a recommendation.
Has anyone seen Hyperdrive? Sci-fi show with Nick Frost. I've been watching Babylon 5 and Star Trek Deep Space Nine lately, and I'm looking for something lighter to balance them out, if it's good that is.

I've never heard of it. Thought for a second you meant the Amazon original that he was in (watched 2, binned it).

The BBC show from a few years ago?
It was fine but completely suffered from being compared to the BBC’s previous sci-fi sitcom.
If you have access I’d say The Orville in D+ is a good light hearted take on Trek. Although they have made the bold decision to front load the worst episodes at the start of each season. So you might need to stick it out for parts of the first couple.

Yeah, that's the one. I've seen a bit of The Orville here and there, and I've not decided whether I like it or not. It has a weird balance where it's 75% TNG, 25% Family Guy. Maybe I should give an entire season a chance though.

What? That's shit Amazon. Yeah, didn't they buy the Bond catalog not long ago? If anything, I was waiting for them to put No Time to Die on there.

It’s possible they’ll move them to freevee? Still, why they haven’t kept them there and publicised it more I have no idea, but then they can’t even be arsed to show them as a proper list.
