One of the best things I've seen in many years. Sharp and funny as fuck.

Weird thing is, I can't stand Gilmore Girls.

I can't say I've watched much of the Gilmore Girls. But Maisel is sharp, well acted and has great production values. My wife has watched some Gilmore, but wasn't grabbed like this. It always seemed a bit too much like a soap.

I always assumed Gilmore Girls was shit, or at least very much not my thing. But then I really liked Mrs Maisel so I checked it out and it was much better than I expected.
I binged a season and a half, and then overdosed and never went back. The writing and characters were great, but there's almost no plot movement, so it doesn't really seem to be going anywhere.
I was not at all sold by the first episode of Mrs Maisel, but by the 3rd episode I was hooked.

What's the link between Gilmore Girls and Maisel?

Same writer

Also, very similar dialogue style. Fast paced non-stop banter.

Interesting. Mrs Maisel doesnt have Rory Gilmore in it, so is instantly better without trying.

The kids in Mrs Maisel are weirdly absent from everything.

Zelda sorts them out! But yeah, odd.

I assume it's a comment on the particular lifestyle, but I tend to completely forget she has kids until the odd episode with the kids and Zelda shows up.
PS/ I like Rory, but mainly when she's getting in fights with Paris. I think one reason I burned out on it (other than binge watching too much) was that I could foresee each season becoming a 'Rory likes a new boy' thing. Also, wasn't keen on the dude in the cafe, who was obviously the end love interest for Lorelai (sic?)

MotoGP Unlimited is good. Similar to Drive to Survive on Netflix but for bikes and better.
No contrived drama, no confusing messing with chronology. The cameras have great access and they let the drama speak for itself.
There's a UHD version listed separately to HD. Best watched subtitled not dubbed as most riders are non English speakers.

Yeah, I've been enjoying that.
I've not really been watching bike racing since Marco Simoncelli was killed because it was getting too stressful, but this has been a nice reintroduction.

There's a UHD version listed separately to HD. They (Amazon) do this quite a lot for some reason, don't they?

There's a UHD version listed separately to HD. They (Amazon) do this quite a lot for some reason, don't they? It's very annoying. I don't see why they can't at least have something like 'also available in UHD' written on the HD listing, even if there's some technical limitation that means they can't share one. I'd watched the first couple of episodes before I realised.

I don't know why Amazon can't just do like all the other services and just dynamically adjust the resolution to your bandwidth.

Because they'd rather save the cash than invest in a decent UX

I don't know why Amazon can't just do like all the other services and just dynamically adjust the resolution to your bandwidth. I mean, at least they have 4K in some cases - and a lot of stuff does do that (but other stuff weirdly doesn't). Whereas NowTV, which grabs pretty much all HBO shows and a lot of other "premium" TV from the US maxes out at 1080p. And the sick fucks at Sky actually do have a "proper" streaming service now, not just NowTV. You're just not allowed to buy it unless you have Sky hardware.

FWIW, HBO mostly maxes out at 1080p in the US as well. HBO Max has started testing 4K with its runs of theatrical films over the last year, but as far as I'm aware (I've not seen every HBO original obviously), everything else is still 1080p.

I can't speak to that, but AFAIK most (not all) HBO shows shoot in 4K HDR and where they escape NowTV in the UK they tend to be available in 4K HDR. Chernobyl for example was shot in 4K HDR but on NowTV it's shoddily encrypted 1080p and even that requires an extra 50% cost per month (default is 720p). I hear HBO Max routinely does the same thing where it shows things shot in 4K in 1080p and people seem to be pretty mad about it.

You're not missing anything with Chernobyl not being in 4k. The uptick is barely noticeable.
ALTHOUGH they borked the UK Blu-ray release too with the wrong framerate, so it's all shit in the UK. I bought the US 4K disc.

I'm watching reacher now after the discussion earlier about it. Jesus, you guys weren't fucking around when you said that they manage to fit in how big he is in every bit of dialogue.

No Time To Die is on Prime. Was just about to post the same thing. Going to give it a watch tonight. Shame it doesn't appear to be in 4K HDR though.

I was looking for my next franchise to do a marathon watch of, I think I’ve done all the other ones that are good and I want to see.
25 films or so of Bond seems a good plan to me.
