I've no knowledge of the books so I spent the first season wondering whether he was meant to be autistic, or whether the guy was really shit at acting.
I kind of enjoyed season one, in a 'it's shit but kind of enjoyable' way.
Season two is just out and out not very good. It's cheesy, it's slow, the characters are all lame. The writing is terrible. Say 'special investigators', 'details matter' and 'did I ever tell you you were smart' one more time, so help me God.
Still gonna watch the end though. Sigh.

I like it. It’s exactly the kind of preposterous military adjacent bullshit I seem to be drawn to. Like The Equalizer movies but with trousers pulled up slightly less high.

I can't cope with the way he waddles down the road either due to his gigantic thighs chafing.
Also, how there are never any consequences for him murdering everyone in broad daylight.
And how he keeps getting free reign to do whatever despite being an unemployed bum living off his past achievements.

My Dad used to love the Reacher books. I wish he was still alive so I could call it gay porn and see his face.

I think I read one of the books, but it was terrible, so I never went back to them. I thought the first season of the show wasn't bad so it's a shame the second has lost the plot somewhat.

I don't think it's that awful, it's kind of a UHD version of a general action/police procedural.
True that a bunch of things don't stack up. EG why when they have clear intel of upcoming terrorist attacks they wouldn't tell central gvt and the DoD guys they get info on AM from. They'd massively mobilize like tens of thousands of FBI agents and police officers. The risk is way too high.
I quite like a lot of the other bits complained about in that article. The in-jokes and bigger team.

The things they complain about in that article are pretty much on a par for any actiony crime/terrorist/military drama. They're always a bit dumb, people do stuff that doesn't happen irl, and stuff pans out in a way where it just doesn't work like that in reality.

Maybe an idea to put some spoiler protection on the Reacher posts If someone is bleeding out maybe holding their hand is not going to do much, could at least attempt to try and slow the bleeding, it's not like any of them have basic medical training or anything. Details matter* *doesn't apply to Reacher script writers.

Oops yeah I'll just delete that bit.
But again to my main point: it's no worse than the kids of stuff you usually see in this sort of drama. Usually it's *worse*. How many times do you see someone suffer multiple trauma like be in a car crash or a get dragged out of a fire, to somehiw miraculously come back to life after the shortest and worst round of CPR ever? It just doesn't work like that.
Not denying this series is wall to wall dumb shit, but *all* series and films like this are.

The main standard mistake they make is that cars are bullet proof.
Bullets go right through IRL...

I've not watched this week's episode yet, but last week's funeral scene felt firmly like the show is midair looking down at the shark below.

That was pretty much how I felt but articulated far better. I also agree that Russo was the only character who stood out (actor was good I felt).

Decided to cancel Amazon Prime. Don't order enough stuff anymore to make it worthwhile and hardly watch the stuff on Prime TV. It does have good stuff on there, but it is such a hassle to find.

Also cancelled. Fuck the 3 quid extra to remove the ads. Pure money grab and for me the straw that broke the camel's back.

I daresay I'll just carry on watching with Ads I don't watch that much anyway but I do like the convenience and ease of use of Amazon and their returns process. Hands down better than any other online retailer ever by a mile.

Something like this really focuses attention on just how shit it is.
It's *very* rare where I see subtitles work properly for sections of shows which have non-English dialogue, (the equivalent of "Forced English" from discs). It sometimes get triggered if you bring up subtitles and immediately turn them off, but it'll be back to non-functioning by the start of the next show.
Also, it's the only streaming service that buffers and drops quality with me. Nothing else does it (netflix is fine) and my internet connection is 1Gbps fttp so it's definitely at their end.
Plus navigations is awful.

Pashangwalas.

Prime also has a lot of movies with no subtitles at all, which is inexcusable in this day and age.

Prime's eagerness to show video quickly rather than at a decent bitrate is fucking annoying, I end up pausing some videos just to allow it to get a buffer at times, I'd rather have a buffering spinner than 480p (at best) video for 20 seconds or so. It's certainly not my connection doing it either.

Prime also has a lot of movies with no subtitles at all, which is inexcusable in this day and age. Japan Prime is even worse for this. I had a cunning plan to practice my language skills by watching Japanese content with Japanese subtitles but hardly anything has them. Impressively, I Googled for Japanese content on Amazon Prime with subtitles and the next time I went on Prime it had added a category rail 'content with Japanese subtitles' but still most of it didn't have any subtitles

The subtitles point really annoys me too on Prime.
But still, nothing is worse than Now on quality/bitrate...

There is a subtitle option on my tv, but it almost never shows anything.
I wonder if we're just spoiled in the UK because we had Teletext 888 subtitles on pretty much everything for decades. I have no idea if other countries had that.
As for Japanese prime, I'm kinda the opposite. I want to watch a few Japanese movies with English subtitles (Shin Gozilla, etc...) but they almost never have them. Understandable given the target audience, I guess, but I assume they have them on other countries Prime services, so I wonder why not duplicate them everywhere *shrug*

Surely Japan have people who need subtitles though? Basic accessibility options missing just does not compute these days.

*shrug* I have no idea. TV shows already cover the screen with huge amounts of colorful text, animations, gifs, reaction faces in boxes, etc... so maybe normal subtitles would clash with those? They'll animate up big dramatic exlamations in large colorful text, but then other parts there'll be nothing. (It's a bit like if subtitles were done by Banzai) Or maybe they exist and I've just never worked out how to access them Japan seems weird to me for accessibility. In some things they're pretty advanced (braille on all the train station step handrails, etc.. and in others not (most website text is pictures without alt-text, so I have no idea how blind japanese people use the internet). On the other hand, the UK has a lot more government oversight of things like that, so maybe the UK is just used to it and assumes it's standard elsewhere. (Applies to other things like bank transfers, atm charges, etc.. too)

Anyone else think the picture quality in Fargo s5 is terrible? Usually Prime for all it's faults has a good picture.

Yeah, thought I was going mad or something dodgy going on with my TV. Just seems to be really badly compressed. I meant to make a mental note of one scene and try it on my laptop/tablet to see if it's any better. It was the same via the TV's built in app and via Shield TV.
Annoying considering the previous seasons haven't been in UHD, so I was looking forward to this, but it looks worse than previous seasons.
In fairness it probably is my TV, which I've been looking for an excuse to upgrade to an OLED.
