The music is good if you use their echo speakers. We have one in the kitchen/office. You can connect Spotify to it but you have to say additional things to make it work. They broke it, though, unless its been changed back. It used to be that you got 'free' Spotify-like access with prime to like 10% of the overall plus music library which was fine if your tastes didn't go too deep or you just wanted tunes for the car but then they changed it so that it only played pre-curated playlists and not allow you to choose which music actually played. It became, basically, radio and thus worthless. |

The only time I use delivery is at xmas when I forget something and have to send it to someone last minute. Other than that I only use it for the video.
But the video-only sub doesn't work out much cheaper due to not having an annual option.

Oh, I checked there, it doesn't give me any stats though. It just shows my renewal info then a bunch of recommendations / available benefits.

Yep, I mean it shows me when my renewal is due, what plan I'm on etc rather than asking me to renew.
Maybe it's a data privacy thing, I always opt-out of anything I can.

I'm only 23 packages and 111 movies / shows according to the link in my email. Luckily my annual renewal is 12th Feb, so I'll have a week to see how annoying the ads are. Pretty sure I'll be cancelling though.

I don't use Amazon to buy things and I hardly use Prime to watch stuff. It's a shared account with others and I'm happy to chin it all off.
Its UI is bad and the content selection is passable but I am happy to just stop giving money to Bezos.

I was of the impression Music was rolled in with Prime now but I’m too much invested in Spotify and have a family account with the little ‘in so have never bothered properly looking |

I would check your account. We had to claim quite a few months of subs back after I noticed we were getting billed for premium music. The kids asked Alexa to play 'up your butt with a coconut' by Parry Gripp. The recording of the transaction was
'I can't play that with your basic account. Would you like to upgrade to music premium?'
'*noises of several children screaming''
'Your account has been upgraded'
For some reason, Alexa took 'raraaaaaarghh eeeeeeee eaaarrrghghg' as 'yes'.

I didn't even realise you could downgrade to only video... probably a good idea.
As of the 4 packages I got delivered one of them contained chair legs instead of a CPU and they've still not refunded me 6 weeks later.

With Reacher you have to turn your incredulity detector to minimum but in the latest episode is getting even more difficult a truck full of high explosive missiles just drives off into the distance with no additional escort or even a co-driver and the very end of the episode was far too predictable in how it was shot. I'm really not enjoying this season as much as the first. I spotted this post and didn’t read it for spoilers, have just finished the available episodes and made exactly the same observations. Also of course the way all these bodies pile up with no investigation or scrutiny afterwards. I’m still enjoying it a lot but you have to remember the source material is (highly enjoyable) pulp b#llocks to start with. I did prefer the lone drifter thing to the Avengers Assemble thing going on here though, and Finlay and Roscoe were far better characters than Reacher’s goons. The first one had a bit of southern gothic Stephen King feel going on too which I thought really worked for it. It was a lot more menacing. |

I've set my Prime sub to not automatically renew in response to this.
That'll show them the MONEY GRABBING BASTARDS!
I've got a sub to the full fat version of the Music service as well. Been meaning to cancel that for ages as well so did that while I was there. The UI is *so* bad on the phone app.

Agree with the Reacher observations - just doesn't have the charm of the first. Possibly due to all the additional characters and the need to give them back stories/interactions. The body count and lack of any comeback is really odd - but, as mentioned, given the pulpy reference material hardly surprising. I'll see how obtrusive the ads are before cancelling.

I'm also in the dump Prime camp. With Apple, Disney, Paramount and Sky I don't really need it and shopping on Amazon is a bit of a mess these days. If it's super urgent and I can't get it elsewhere I'll suck it up and pay delivery.
Outside of The Boys and WoT there's not a lot I will miss.

Another ludicrously implausible, but really exciting, Reacher this weekend. I do hope it continues. I've now come to the conclusion that it's The A Team but not as good, hopefully next season Reacher goes back to being a loner (with better writers/directors/special effects team in tow).
Really disappointed by it.

I’m not sure what people were expecting with Reacher. I’ve only read one book because I’m not that into gay porn but isn’t the whole point of the series that he is an infallible, sexy, smart, unbeatable, rippling, wise, handsome and butch force of nature? The series seems pretty faithful to that (and is pretty good. Maybe I am into it).
