2nd, and almost certainly last, season of Carnival Row was decent. Predictable, and not at all subtle in its references elves have a communist revolution, speak in russian accents, call eachother "comrade", carry around little red shit, not red, too obvious, what's an elf colour? green book ... nowt groundbreaking but good monsters, enjoyable steampunk pixie entertainment

Started watching Citadel today, seems alright so far if a bit far fetched (especially one scene who think I audibly groaned).
2 EPs up now on prime and then weekly afterwards.
All about spies and stuff done by the Russo brothers.

Air is on prime already. Seems like it only hit cinemas recently.
Damon, Affleck, Bateman. Film about Nike and creating the Air Jordan brand.
Has good reviews.

Didn't realise Good Omens 2 was being released in one go, enjoyed the first episode and then up popped the play next episode prompt. Can't remember if the first series was weekly or not but it's unusual for Amazon to do it.

Be interested to see how Good Omens fares now that it's no-longer got any book to be based on. I feel like it might actually help it... or kill it.

I'm enjoying it. The plot is alright but the cast are incredible and really elevate it.
They might have left it open for a third run.

Two episodes in and it's been very good, David Tennant working with his father-in-law again too.

I was cautious about it being another tv show running beyond the end of its source material but all positive signs so far.

I'm enjoying it. The plot is alright but the cast are incredible and really elevate it. They might have left it open for a third run. Apparently there were some plans / ideas for a second book, which will go into the third series if it gets renewed. This second series was intended to bridge the gap between the two.

Tbh, I always found the book a bit weak, despite some really great ideas being in there. So I'm hoping that they'll be able to use it as a stepping off point for something better.
I think it's because it looks and smells like a Pratchett book, but it's not actually funny.

Good Omens 2 is very clearly set up for a third and final season, I enjoyed it a lot but what the next season is going to be about will potentially be nuts.

Just started Deadloch, an Australian black comedy about a murder in Tasmania where the local cops get out of their depth and a detective from Darwin is sent in to close it out. It’s the funniest, sweariest thing I’ve ever seen, lost count of the c-bombs but there’s a real intelligence and depth to it too. It’s 8 x 1hour episodes and I’ve done the first three.

The Last of Us S1 is up for £21.99. A bit steep but still cheaper than a month of Sky.

Ep 3 remains one of the best things, and love stories, I have ever witnessed

Halfway through this Peter Crouch documentary. It’s excellent and maybe will make people think about how they treat players and just people in general.

I noticed Amazon has a fking Kalvin Philips show. I mean wtf is in that... 8 episodes of him warming the bench and being frozen out by Pep? Crazy.

Is it something you can watch one season of and feel reasonably satisfied, or is it going to be really annoying to only see 1/4 of a story or something like that?

It is a complete story but it leaves you wanting to see more, it's a very different set up from most stories in how it works.

That's a pity, I enjoyed S1. Next year is going to be rough for new content.

I actually have kinda a soft spot for starting cancelled shows. At least you know it's not going to get dragged out forever. But it does really depend on the show and how it ends. Luckily, netflix seems to be doing its best to cater to me by cancelling every show after 1 season.
[edit] and of cousre this is only if I know it's cancelled before I start, not if I find out it's cancelled when I get to the end!!

I'm 4 episodes into a show called 'Deadloch' which I'm really enjoying. It's straddling murder mystery with comedy really well. Give it a go. Amazon Prime Recommendation made.

Oddly, the film Master Gardener (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master_Gardener_(film)) is in the Freevee section.

Just seen that. It's not good enough really, as it is. Sure, some decent stuff comes on there.
Either something is free and has ads or you pay and don't have ads. I'm not paying to have someone give me shit I don't want.

I’m not sure why if you pay you think there shouldn’t be ads. Outside of streaming normal TV never worked that way.
It’s not an attractive approach, I agree. I’m sure it’ll drive a certain amount of people to either not use the service or it’ll cause more to rotate the services. I already do it with Netflix but I’m doing it with all of them soon when a couple of annual memberships end.
It has just reminded me to cancel my annual prime renewal. I don’t need it for deliveries and I’m mainly watching stuff on freevee anyway.

I wonder if Freevee was testing the waters.
I assume if they're gonna run ads on regular prime then Freevee will disappear? Shame. I don't use it that much, but I do watch stuff on there from time to time.

Because I'm me, I watch everything on a PC hooked up to my lounge TV. I use Firefox with ublock origin.
Now this has the effect of blocking ads on many streaming services: itvx, ch4 and YouTube never show any adds.
I'm mentioning, obviously, because I wounder if this would be the same for Amazon? I never thought to try it on the add service they already have...

Pihole is a bit hit and miss with adblocking on freevee. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. I think probably because I don't keep up with what lists are needed etc.

The Continental
A spin off 3 part series set in the early 70s and the first episode is up clocking at 1.5hours.
I've never been into action based stuff but I do like Wick because it's so polished and pure.
This is very good. But it isn't pure. It just misses the finish post but only by a margain. The action is vicious and choreographed. The story is good in it's own right. The acting, direction, cinematography ...all that gubbins is very good. But it isn't wick and that isn't even a criticism.
It's broader in that it doesn't have a main focus character. Wick is a relentless one man show, this isn't that.
It's a bit slower, it's trying to build characterisation between several characters.
It doesn't nail the orange/teal colour set that Wick so expertly used from the late 80s/90s. That aesthetic has always been underrated in Wick films. It's central and they try but it the person in charge of lightigh didn't get that memo.
But it does have a great appreciation for music from the early 70s. Some of it's banging.
8/10
