Always loved Skaven warmachines. The doomwheel in particular was mental.

I used to think Necrons were the lazy transportation of Warhammer fantasy undead to the 40K universe. I was not wrong, but I was also not right.

Skaven have always been the best Fantasy faction. How can you not love greedy little warpstone-addled rats?

Nice to see them finally getting some love with some new models too.

Definitely. I'd certainly be more enthusiastic about painting a large bunch of Skaven footsoldiers, than any other faction.
Different fur, clothing colours etc, to me there seems a lot more freedom and creativity allowed.
Painting the same basic Stormcast units the same gold and blue etc would be more repetitive

So, plastic HH Mechanicus and some derp-stealers vs Van Saar/Spyrers. The Malstrain in particular just seem...off. Why do we even need jank "we have x at home meme" genestealers ? Not to mention it's a lazy (could even say FW-legacy bad sculpt) head addition to some hive scum bodies. The Spyrer suit seems more aligned to the Blackstone spindle things too, lacks a bit of the old character.
What's strange for me is that I already have a hi-tech GSC killteam using Van Saar as a base, and a rustic one using Cawdor stuff. And despite this new box tying into both, I'm just thinking naah. I'll wait for the Pioneer squats, and maybe Myrmidons if we get round to them in the AdMech plastics.

Yeah, not particularly impressed by that new Necromunda box. Just seems really weird, like more of an offshoot board game. Where’s my grotty gang warfare?

Not a fan of the exposed workings on the side of this thing. You know, where armour panels should be.

The age old 40k conundrum of track guards as well.
The new Spyrer looks fun.

If the horned rat is a proper chaos god now, does that mean they'll finally put skaven in 40k?

Just getting through the show now.
Unless they return to it they are not showing the combat patrols here.
The sisters one looks like a really disappointing downgrade per the trend in terms of getting cool models, but the GSC one looks possibly a bit cooler.
The battle forces look good but nobody will be able to get them will they.
I’m really glad I nabbed the old DA, BA and Space Wolves ones last year when I did.
I think the HH Mechanicum stuff is really, really cool personally. If I was collecting them for 40K I’d be a bit jealous of some of that.

First of all, Skaven already exist in 40k, they are called the Imperium of Man. Secondly, there is no warpstone in 40k.

Just watched a review for a simple electric spray gun that could be useful for laying down primer and quick zenithal/base colour passes: The upside to a system like this is that you can do a quick bottle swap to change colours and the only parts that need cleaning are the bottles and the nozzle tips. The downside is that you have no pressure control, so getting a feel for the correct thickness of the paint to get a decent spray is going to take some trial and error. Only £30 though! www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0D2NTPDDZ?smid=ASV4X25WNHVBH&ref_=chk_typ_imgToDp&th=1Anyway - I don't need one, but screw it, I've ordered one and when it gets here I'll give it a go and see what it's capable of and if I think it's worth the money as a basic airbrush-alike.

I am hopeful that the Skaven are standard enough, Clan Rats, Jezzails, Grey Seer etc. that they can all just be re-packaged for Old World. Yes, yes.

Damn GW and their internal politics and not giving Horus Heresy models 40k rules, those Mechanicum models are amazing.

To be fair, the chance of 40k rules for HH armies pretty much vanished in 8th Edition with the death of Alan Bligh and the cancellation of Imperial Armour: Fires of Cyraxus.
Specialist Games have always had a rocky relationship with the 40k/AoS departments, but I believe there's almost zero cross-talk between the teams these days. GW keeps them all separate and encourages competition between the teams. Corporate bullshit.

Just done a stupid thing and bought the soon to be deleted Sisters Combat Patrol. Need more plastic like a hole in the head but it’s too cool a set. The replacement one is just not as inspiring.

Definitely not stupid for grabbing a better bargain while you can - especially when you factor in the new (invariably worse) CP box will be subject to the price hike on the 10th of June.
I recently grabbed two GSC CP boxes and looking at the new one I now know I did the right thing!

Finally a good weekend for priming stuff!
Got through a sea of grey plastic that has been waiting for the past 10 years for some decent weather.

The washing came in, the drilling was done so I took the next logical step and have now primed a Lieutenant and my Sternguard squad. For the Emperor!

Sorry for the spam. Just picked up White Dwarf 500.
It’s got several pretty cool things in it, including a flow chart retrospective of the magazine starting from when it was a photocopied fanzine with no Citadel affiliation.
A poster with the cover of all 500 issues.
A really great ‘Eavy Metal feature with a bunch of bespoke dioramas to create faux White Dwarf covers with.
The battle report also has digital effects overlaid with the real painted miniatures which is new to me.
It’s pretty great!

I'm pretty sure they used the guy who goes by the moniker Artist's Empire for the digital overpainting effects, as they've used him before. artistsempire.com/Incidentally, the Horus Heresy box art/campaign book artists use a similar style (digital overpainting over miniature photography), but they go for a more realistic, gritty 'historical war photography' style.

Oooo a full set of Spyrers.
Also bugger spraying stuff in Administratum Grey, I can't visually tell which bits are covered or not.

That much is true….however the worst is doing white (as I’ve been doing for nids and a blood bowl team). There will always be some bit you miss left in white!

I didn't like the new Orrus they already showed, but I'm looking at the wings on the new Yeld and thinking "oo, conversion"
