Did you get the freebie Terminator? I had 2 Wardogs, some more PMs and a spray due today. DHL went to the fire escape, took a picture of the door and fucked off leaving neither card nor ringing the doorbell and will apparently be depositing the package at a shop a 40minute walk away. That was 3 hours ago and I havent had an email to say it's now actually at said shop. Useless pricks. Always remember if it f*cks up your contract is with the retailer and not DHL if they try to palm you off. Hope it wasn’t Element, who I generally love. Must go in person some day. It’s not a million miles away but I hate motorways. The email popped up just before dinner, so I embarked after eating. Didn't realise I had to walk 3/4 of a mile of it down an unpavemented, unlit, narrow road with brambles either side. I got a cab back rather than risk that again. But I have my Dogs and I've built about a third of them. Should have them finished in time for the game on Saturday

Gah.
Just spent 2 days tidying up my 'office' before an estate agent comes over to photograph the house prior to putting it on the market.
My lord I have a lot of toy soldiers.
I managed to condense 8 shelves of minis into my already full Kallax unit, took 3 shelf's worth of scenery down and put them in the attic, cleared all the paints and hid them in the wardrobe and then tried to clean all the paint off the desk and surrounding area - it's been a messy few years.
Anyway, mission accomplished, and it now looks like an actual office / 3rd bedroom. Admittedly with a big Kallax unit stuffed to the brim with toy soldiers, but still.
However, I think it's going to be a while before I can get the paint brushes out again, which sucks. I've also glimpsed just how awful the move process is going to be - just moving those figures from one shelf to another was bad enough, but actually having to securely transport them to a new house... Gah.
I need to seriously consider selling some of the stuff I've accumulated over the years - stuff still in cellophane after 12 months is probably a good sign that the project I thought they were going to inspire / complete isn't happening - but my natural inclination to to hang on to everything. Forever.
New place we're interested in does have a room I've earmarked as my 'office' should it all come off, the ideal would be a room large enough to have a game table so I could play some solo games if the mood caught me, but not sure that's going to be possible. I may also accidentally fill the entire house with boxes of toy soldiers and scenery on the first day.
I probably should have posted this in the First World Problems thread (wah, I have too much stuff it's so unfair), but I thought fellow wargamers would have a unique perspective on my woes!

Will do. Although to be fair I’ll probably get round to them at some point….probably when I’ve retired looking at the rest of the room!

Yeah the revamp of the Stormcast into true scale longbois absolutely made me nope out of AoS. Still got loads of Nighthaunt on sprues, might go with them if I ever get back into it.
Edit - wow I was just in time with that Ork combat patrol!

I don't mind Stormcast, and I liked Skaven..might use the new edition as a bit of motivation, and try and get everything I have painted by it's release.
Though the last things paint related I did were prime some stuff I 3d printed.

Blimey, I’ve just seen the scale of the Sigmar stuff. Release a box set of Sacrosanct Chamber stuff in Soul Wars and delete it before people can even paint it. Wow. Not cool at all!
They are really spread too thinly now aren’t they. I don’t get how you can launch two new entire game systems and then just f*ck a huge range of new plastics like that. I’m sure I won’t have been alone in jumping back in the lockdown days with Soul Wars.
I also wanna do a mini rant about Warhammer in York. I know there’s always a bit of danger of lack of social skills in there but as someone who just wanted to get a bit of advice on paints and quickly buy stuff it wasn’t a great experience. I was definitely made to feel like an unwelcome old guy in there, but I’m the age range that will actually spend lots of money there! Having got home and unpacked my stuff I’ve realised I’ve bought two leadbelchers - one of those was supposed to be Genestealer Purple. Now I know this is my fault really but honestly back in my retail days I’d have likely spotted that and asked if it was right.
Went back the day after, asked a bit of advice on an appropriate priming colour, then was left to squeeze past a load of people doing a tutorial game before standing at the till with the can for about five minutes waiting to hand them my money, whilst they continued gaming. I mean I know they have an MO of using those activities to snare new people but I was VERY close to just walking there.
Luckily here I’ve got Bury and Manchester not a million miles away, and the guy that runs Bury in particular is very good and very helpful. Not one of these shops has enough stock in though either.

I thought Wayland had accidentally given me an extra Reikland FleshShade this week until I checked my order again and realised I'd accidentally added it to my basket twice.

Did I imagine it or did somebody once post a really nicely painted Ork Warboss - the one from the combat patrol with the saw and the Gretchin on a mounted gun? It was possibly in Bad Moon colours unless this is some sort of Mandela effect.
I’d love to have a look at that for inspiration but the search is bringing nothing up. If the artist or anybody that finds it could post a link I’d be grateful.
Hope to have my next batch of bugs ready tonight - have this sort of first world problem whereby I like consistency which doesn’t sit well with getting a bit better at painting - so I’ve been slowed down by updating already painted examples of the same models. It’s not even anything you’d notice really!

I suppose this controversial change to Stormcast means there's some hope they'll do it to Marines as well.
As someone disinterested in both it always struck me as stupid that both ranges have a lot of variants of the same basic unit type. Just from maintaining the rules and the army books not being bloated.

As someone disinterested in both it always struck me as stupid that both ranges have a lot of variants of the same basic unit type. Just from maintaining the rules and the army books not being bloated. A pretty spicy take IMO. If you’re disinterested in the factions I don’t think you ought to wish other people’s choices away, but even then the Sigmar move here is pretty astonishing. I bought the Soul Wars box in the Covid lockdowns - that’s not long ago at all and the Stormcast in it were *all* Sacrosanct Chamber, which is now gone. I probably spent at least a hundred quid more on further Sacrosanct stuff, including stuff because Soul Wars contained incomplete units for matched play and I wanted a ‘legal’ army. Now luckily for me I moved away from Soul Wars but if I hadn’t I’d be feeling really dejected right now. Worse still if I’d gone Beastmen, but they were at least neglected from the start and people weren’t actively encouraged to buy them - which they were with the Sacrosanct Chamber - they’ve literally been the AoS poster boys for the few years they’ve existed and have now been effectively deleted. I assumed at first it was just a case of ‘doing a Primaris’ and changing the scale, but this isn’t what has happened and the models haven’t been replaced. The remaining models which are getting a replacement shown so far (Liberators) are IMO getting significantly worse models too. I’ll also say that the Ork Combat Patrol replacement is very uninspiring. I plan to collect Orks and have snagged the old good CP but am praying they don’t gradually get replaced by this Beast Snagga direction which is seemingly being pushed. Also feel the Stompa box is a bit rubbish if you don’t want a Stompa. That could have had a battle wagon and a dread or Kanz instead. I don’t know enough about Custodes to judge the army box and CP which have just been announced.

I don’t know enough about Custodes to judge the army box and CP which have just been announced. I'm not an AoS player but 2nd edition was 6 years ago so this is longer than Squats existed before being squatted. I also lived through them fully cancelling all my favourite games (Epic, BFG, Blood Bowl, Necromunda etc). As a matter of rationalising the games though. The amount of Stormcast is confusing, it's not unit with 2 hand weapons, unit with weapon and shield and 2 handed weapons. Like Space Marines currently have at least 4 recent variants of "recon infantry" or light infantry. Multiple war walker things. Multiple extremely heavy infantry things from terminators to those dumb exo-suits. If one were to make the game sensible you'd strip those bloated factions back to you've got one choice per archetype with maybe paint the heads different for veterans or upgrade boxes to make blood claws or death wing or what not.

Re: the new Orks boxes: Beastsnaggas are currently the best choice for competitive play, so (assuming they're still the best choice in the new Codex) GW are just feeding the meta chasers and those boxes will fly off the shelves, most likely. The old box was also cursed with the newer Boyz kit, which could only be built one way and had a bizarre mixture of melee and ranged in the same squad - which is exactly the reason the old kit is still on sale, as Ork players were totally pissed by the new kit. The new ones look great, but they feel like they were designed by someone who's never played the game. Stompa battle force is almost certainly because they've got a load of them in the warehouse and are looking for a reason to offload them fast. The Stompa box is pretty chunky, after all. Stick them in a discount box with a new Mek sculpt and hope they go. I imagine eBay is going to be absolutely chock full of cheap Stompas in a couple of weeks
