Depends how cheap is cheap, but I started with an Iwata Eclipse and a fairly basic compressor. It's a real workhorse and helped me enjoy painting a lot more.
If you can, you do get what you pay for with these things though. Absolutely worth it!

I got an airbrush kit for my birthday last year and Iām still yet to crack it open and do anything, mostly because it would involve a big sort out of my painting area and thatās a disaster zone I donāt want to go near.

Iāve unexpectedly been gifted the spare room as an office / hobby room, so am starting from scratch as far as setup goes m, which is nice. Think thatās probably a bit more than I was looking for tbh, especially once you add in a compressor. Not 100% if Iāll like it or how much Iāll use it, so I donāt want to potentially waste too much.

I think when I get into it Iām probably going to treat it as a big primer/base layer station. Then whack out the brushes for any detailing. Weāll see how that goes in 2027 when Iāve finally gotten around to unboxing it.

It does get really expensive even if you find a decently priced airbrush once you get all the other stuff that nexus has listed. I felt exactly the same and felt pretty guilty spending so much money (it was the spray booth that nearly stopped me) but I jumped in and even if I only used it to speed prime quickly in all weather/base coat in seconds, I'd still say it's worth it!

The spray booth was nearly the kicker for me too!

Cheers nexus, thatās some great info! Thereās quite a bit there I hadnāt thought ofā¦ Oh my poor wallet :/ No worries. Iām a big advocate for airbrushing. Itās a journey. Tbh there isnāt too much money involved - the brush itself is 20 quid cheaper now than when I got mine and the compressor is under 100 too. The spray booth is the most expensive but and you could go on with masks and open windows. Especially if you have no children/pets and a spare room. Acrylics are less dangerous too.

Really excited for that. The first Space Marine was an underrated gem.

I reckon an Eisenhorn tv show would be pretty sweet.

That would be a good series alright. It'll be a sight seeing a space marine next to an average Joe.
The great thing about Eisenhorn was the only occasional appearance of an astartes, making them much more awe inspiring than a series wholly about them.

Scrolling instagram this morning and a female 40k collector7painter appeared in the feed - she was making a post because she's getting harassed by insecure dudes - death threats, homophobia, etc. "Females like you are everything that's wrong with Warhammer."
If there was one thing, or type of thing, that I genuinely didn't expect to have this sort of shit it'd be this one. Blew my tiny mind.

There are already a bunch of 40k shows... but all the ones I checked out were a bit weird. And they seem to be all variations on animations about space marines. www.warhammertv.com/

Cavill would make a decent Corax.

Heād also work as almost any loyalist Space Marine, so thatās not saying much Heās Executive Producer which might mean the lore gets respected, and we donāt have ridiculous crap like a love affair between a marine and an aeldari. Hang onā¦ (Beats Batman accidentally getting Batgirl pregnant, anyway)

Space Marines are inherently boring, so Iād prefer it if they stayed clear of too much of that.
But seeing as the most-boring-of-all Blue Space Boys are their poster children, I donāt hold too much hope.

If they want to appeal to more than just the BO brigade, they need to do Blood Angels right? The ladies love a good vampire TV series.
But it will probably be smurfs as usual.

I'm hearing that Warhammer have decided to go on a different direction and Cavill has been sacked.

But Space Marines from the POV of a human are very much more interesting. Take the first couple of Horus Heresy novels - a much more interesting viewpoint with the remembrancers etc. The first 4 books of HH would be a great set of films/series

Ultramarines are boring, but there are a lot of other Space Marines out there and I think some of them are wild. Not the Word Bearers though, fuck the Word Bearers. And the Blood Angels.

Founding legion flavour rank go:
Great: Dark Angels Thousand Sons Emperorās Children Raven Guard Salamanders Imperial Fists
Ok: Space Wolves Night Lords Death Guard Iron Hands Iron Warriors White Scars Sons of Horus / Black Legion (fuck Abaddon) Alpha Legion
We donāt talk about: Ultramarines Word Bearers Blood Angels World Eaters Bruno

And the Blood Angels. Some of the chapter fluff is quite cool, but I maintain that Space Marines themselves are dull. Especially 40k ones. Itās all just FOR THE EMPRAH this and COME MY SWORN BROTHERS that, oiling their rippling muscles and then killing lots of things.
