(I'll repost for new page doh) Haha, my take on Dark Mech Kataphrons(?), Slave Ogryn base, Kataphron weapons, greenstuff cloaks. Still need to finish details, try this oil wash malarkey, and get cracking with the army in waiting... Basically a whole Dark Mech army, taking normal Mechanicus unit ideas and twisting them so they could still use the AdMech codex even though I don't play. Been struggling lately, but it's time to get back on the horse.

I just finished up this big lad from the Chaos Knights army box set. The spooky spooky ghosty bits are from the AoS chainrasps - I had a load of those left over from the sprue which came free with Mortal Realms magazine, and was trying to come up with some excuse to use them. The marine on the base was left over from Be'Lakor's kit as I had built him to be "non-40k".

Seeing work like that really should inspire me to paint more but it actually has the opposite effect as I know I will never get anywhere near!

Thanks for the kind words, but I disagree on the above point. I have zero innate talent and you absolutely can get there if you want to - everyone is at a different point on the hobby journey! If I had to recommend only one resource for improving then it would be the hobby cheating series on YouTube - I learned a HUGE amount from watching these tutorials: Hobby Cheating Playlist And if you only were only to watch one then PLEASE watch this one: www.youtube.com/watch?v=HG5OzFTPPUgThis is where I started out:

It's why I like doing entire armies at a time, I'd rather a cohesive, decent looking theme that's consistent with a few errors than even trying to do each one as a Golden Demon entry. Once they're all lined up, nobody cares about the lack of highlight on one leg on the 4th guy in a squad somewhere, but it's easily fixed later if you do notice it. But yeah, that's stunning tam.

I really want the damned algorithms to show me decent/interesting painting as there's zero chance I'll get to the standard some of the stuff that they show me. Show me your most medium paint jobs damn it.

Anyone with a Boyes store local, they've got old formulation Citadel paints on discount. Got myself Hexfire Flame, Nighthaunt Gloom and Agrax Earthshade £2.35 each. Worth a look if you've a branch close.

Loads of new, and in some cases returning, Chaos minis.
Also, BIG ASS MARINES.

The design of the Shadowspear sprues means that Obliterators and the Venomcrawler come as a combo, but it IS a pretty stonks combo at the moment.
You could do worse that to run a couple of each. The only downside is that one is a GW webstore exclusive so no tasty 20% off RRP.

I love this big chungus - this is going to be a full on try-hard mode piece, so I will be getting used to looking at it. All blu-tacced together, currently trying to decide on sub-assemblies.

While this is bumped with actual creativity...
I finished the 'trilogy' of the Horus Heresy - Horus Rising, False Gods and Galaxy In Flames. All really enjoyable, compelling novels in their own right with a decent overall story. Perhaps Horus and his change could have been made more subtle, more gradual, but it did the job in setting the world up now.
Some really great characters that I will definitely miss.
I have started on The Flight of The Eisenstein which has taken a step back to slightly before the end of the 3rd book which I think shows how complicated this 54 book set might end up getting. It too is pretty good so far with a new 'main' character coming to the fore from previous.

Thumbs up for the herb jar paintstand, a man after my own heart I tend to finish the herbs before I pressgang them into use though 😀 That one is actually full of smashed up cork, so it's doing double duties as painting handle and basing material container I recently re-read Flight of the Eisenstein. Great book, a bit slow to get going - really established Garro as a character I was invested in and wanted to follow in subsequent books. The TLDR for HH as a whole I feel is that everyone gets their moment in the sun and it's just the luck of the draw if the characters that are a hit for you personally get a longer running arc. The obvious ones like Sigismund, Ahriman, Kharn and so on certainly do of course.

I will show my ignorance and ask what FoE is...!? Flight of The Eisenstein Ah ha! I never realised it was a series, just thought it was a one-off in the HH series. It is pretty difficult to figure the different series out etc. You would think the Black Library page would have something on it but it's still not clear there...

Shivers down the spine half way through The Flight Of The Eisenstein. It's really got going!

Awesome. Love the look of the helmet especially.
I was always a Space Wolves fan from back in the day but returning to the hobby in a limited way I find I'm not jiving with Primaris wolves as much. I love Primaris marines but not Space Wolves Primaris for some reason.

I don't mind the hark back to the old captain mini, but all wolf heads is a bit too on the snout. Some Mk2/3/4 wouldn't go amiss. I'm more excited by this Navy-Kroot Killteam set coming up...

Dumb question but do the heads and pads come painted. The way they show them on the blister pack seems to imply they do

They’ll be unpainted.

That is what I thought (and prefer) but the images of the packaging look like they are painted. Maybe it is a box front rather than a blister pack as I first thought though.

Those wolf heads look supremely dumb.
I miss when Space Wolves were proper marines, not some werewolf wannabees.
