TomoThanks. These are taken in a light box, with three LED light sources (my two painting lamps and a strip that is built into the lightbox). The photos which result are still a lot dimmer than the model appears to the eye in the light box, so I just ramp the exposure up ‘in post’ which is basically that plus cropping. It’s always worked well before. I suspect the paint job is just a bit meh. Edit - here are a couple more. One with a couple of your post production suggestions and one from last night where I just held it in my hand.

I’ve just discovered a YT channel called Olden Demon which may be of interest to anyone here, but in particular the veterans from Rogue Trader/2nd Edition days. Some of his humour bits are a bit mixed maybe but I quite dig his approach to presenting. The Tyranid episode was pretty damn good and covered their entire history and evolution from such an early hodge podge of things that didn’t really work together.

I tried colours on the shields and didn't like what they came out like so went classical bronze instead - I did find a painting where they had bronze shields so that's good enough for me! They are easy to distinguish from the Warlord epic Libyan spearmen units I've painted up so I'm leaving it at that.
The citizen levy are a bit more colourful at least

Finished "A Thousand Sons" the other day, now moved on to "Nemesis" and so far it's been an A/B story where in one plot you've got a detective story going on some far flung world where people are getting paranoid that Horus is going to rock up in the near future, while in the other story you've got Constantine Valdor acting as Nick Fury and assembling an Avengers team of members of the different Assassin clades, but even he grows bored of that as a concept and fucks off back to the Palace before they've finished assembling the team.

@blue_Mike hadn’t seen that - yep, bit of a yikes there.
I wonder if GW should just get into the business of selling STLs or whatever the file format is for discontinued stuff. Then again, the re-release of Old World probably shows you why not.

Logged on to YT with my brew this morning to find an Auspex vid on whether Warhammer Plus is worth it. No real new info of course, but by a weird coincidence this guy turned up in the post afterwards!  On my lunch, having figured out how to cast from my phone to the TV, I watched what looks to be a new Deathwatch animation on Warhammer TV, The Enemy Without. Eh, it’s OK. What you’d call bolter porn I guess, and really just a five minute Avengers style action sequence. Nice CGI in the style of Pariah Nexus and Tithes, but no substance. I then finally started Hammer and Bolter. The art and animation style reminds me a lot of something I can’t remember the name of - it was an animation with a lady assassin and was quite crudely drawn but really grotesque and inventive. If anybody remembers please tell me as I now want to watch it again 😂 Anyway this is great so far, and I didn’t know it was an anthology of short stories focusing on different factions which even has some Sigmar stuff in it. So far I’ve watched one with all Imperial/Inquisition intrigue and another which was like a mix of 1985, the Citadel from GoT and Lovecraftian horror. Really quite liking this. This is how I think Warhammer should be done in on-screen media myself, keep it animated and probably away from Amazon and Henry Cavill! Edit - and of course I remember my mystery show just as I post, it was Aeon Flux! |

Yeah that essentially counts as starting from fresh I’d say lol, especially if you are the usual age range around here. I was similar but dabbled in AoS in the starter box before last, but then dropped it again. In hindsight the stuff I did in that faux comeback was a bit rubbish to what I can do now. Very good work though, what stands out is some of the gradients you’ve done like on the antennae and wings. You should post them on r/killteam, people would like them. Edit - I’d strongly suggest getting some varnish out now btw. Especially if you’ve used lots of contrast paint, it loves to chip off on any ends and points, and especially if you are going to handle them and/or play. |

It was 22 years ago yeah!  I just copied the Darcy Bono Vespid video! She explains it all really well. I was quite pleased with the bits where I did have to go freestyle though. I like the green Nightshade Vespid, bossman with the bronze helmet and also my little drone. The little red ticks are quite effective I think. |

Battle forces look up for pre-order already at Travelling Man…they are all £150 - had very very slightly considered the Knights one but I think that’s £30 too much for me even to stick on a payment plan. Doesn’t appear to have any discount on it. knighty, the sisters one is the same price. |

The dark angels was sold out instantly, in fact before 10am. I managed to bag the dark angels one on mighty lancer games for £135 - first time using them.

I’ve an email from them to say that they are limiting it all to bricks and mortar. It’s probably the equivalent of when a handyman quotes you £700 for a two hour job
