Also, check your clothes, your shoes/slippers etc
Check in the complete opposite direction.
Use a high powered lamp or torch or similar from various angles.
Run a pair of your finest nylons over the vacuum tube and collect the bounty there
Or wait 2 years until you’ve forgotten about it then it’ll turn up

I've had a few small parts eaten by the dogs over the years - it doesn't help that some of them sleep around my feet when I'm hobbying, so any dropped part is easy pickings Those grav plates are the perfect size and shape to simply recast. My advice would be to get yourself some Blue Stuff (aka Oyumaru) from Amazon as well as some Milliput. Then watch this video and enjoy infinite grav plates for the rest of you life

Thanks all re the Impulsor part. In particular Nexus, I can’t have you spending time and money on me though, but it’s really appreciated.
The gutting thing is people have had these parts for sale but they are all out of stock except for one or two US sellers - who are charging high anyway and then with postage it’s almost as much as buying a full Impulsor kit.
The blue stuff thing interested me but then I saw you have to buy something else to fill it with and I’m like urrrrggghh lol. I have no doubt I will be rubbish at it.
I think what I’m going to do initially is cannibalise the part from my Gladiator kit sadly. I don’t plan to work on that one for a good while anyway. I’ll then see if anybody else gets stock in and if not make plans to do this recast gubbins.
I am wondering if people will buy stock of the Blood Angels CP before it’s inevitably replaced and start splitting for parts again.
Moral maze - do I tell GW that a sprue is missing from my kit 😈

Update - the deed is done. Now my Gladiator kit is missing a bit and I’ve kicked the can down the road. Given some of GW’s practices, I could be tempted to fib about the missing sprue but I bought it from either Element or Travelling Man. I don’t think GW would therefore help, and both of these businesses are smaller and have been good to me. For one thing the little blackcurrant rock Element tend to stick in bigger orders is a literal sweetener when I have a ‘not again’ moment with my partner on taking a delivery!
I’ll like look at the recast thing, thanks Zyrr.

Hello pals. The only semi-local newsagents who stock Warhammer stuff and get the part works magazines have confirmed that they will be getting in the Combat Patrol magazine.
Bar the first few really good value issues, does it make sense to get it?
I like the possibility of so many different factions to paint, so I'm thinking getting an issue here or there would make more sense

They tend to send a small run out and then want you to move to a subscription model. I wouldn’t trust companies like that as far as I can throw them in terms of actually subscribing.
If your newsagent can get issues in then less of a problem - however if you elect not to buy they then might have a conversation with themselves about whether to continue getting in potentially dead stock.
I personally would not subscribe after once falling victim to a graphic novel collection that kept expanding and expanding, upselling special editions without my permission and making me jump through hoops to cancel. If you can do it through the newsagent as a buffer cool though.
It is just combat patrols though so you could consider just getting one at a time or even a Kill Team or something.

My newsagent got them on sale or return, so was no bother sending back the stuff I wasn't interested in

Thank you both for the advice and perspective. It's something I'll have to consider, especially as while I want to paint, I don't seem to be able to get round to it.
A local hobby shop is having a painting competition, for the freebie incinerator space marine done. I've started painting it, and that's the first time I've painted in years.
Might just call it a day, despite wanting to buy everything in sight. It really is plastic crack

Like if you are painting 5 troops, maybe you spend two sessions on the guns. Another section on doing pouches and stuff. For marines, I always do the armour last, for Tyranids I usually do it first. But yes, maybe just getting piles of stuff in and throwing money at and building the mother of all shame piles isn’t the way. What faction speaks to you most?

All factions have units I'd like to paint. If I could get a single model from every faction, I'd be happy. Those upcoming Inquisitor sets are perfect but out of my price range. Its a complete first world problem, and I'll probably end up getting the mag up to the exclusive character, then dipping in and out for issues I want.

For the Infernus marine, have a look through YT for the ‘hot zippo’ effect on the barrel shroud - there’s loads of vids - it’s basically using stripes of blue, violet and yellow shade/ink/thinned paint to make it look like heat affected metal, and it’s very easy. Interested to know which chapter you will pick, and hoping they are codex compliant, righteous sons of Guilliman of course. They’re just the best.
Now I’ve built the two combat patrols, after I prime the last Impulsor I’ve basically got a good few months of painting ready. Before I start that, I’m going to paint my Redemptor dreadnought and make myself finish my last five Infernus marines, which I don’t really want to do but I don’t like having them unpainted. Still got several Tyranids to finish. Still want to magnetize the bases even though they will probably never be moved.
It never ends does it - and long may it continue

Indomitus Marines, working towards getting a 2k points force ready to play.
Here's my rendition of the "Hot Zippo." muzzle burn thing, from back in 2021. Damn, I haven't painted in months.

Life stuff is currently in the way. I'll be back, but my current feeling is I'll sack off some of my 40k pile of shame, get myself set up for AoS spearhead and paint some Kharadron Overlords and Gloomspite Gits.

Finished reading "Fallen Angels", so now I'm a few chapters into being beaten over the head with the ancient Eyptian appropriation that is "A Thousand Sons"

Christ, those Hive Secundus models were a right ballache to put together. So many tiny pieces and annoying joints. Glad it’s over.
Having read the new campaign rules though, I’m really looking forward to giving it an initial (unpainted) crack with a mate over the weekend. It reads a bit like Space Hulk on steroids. Which is sexy.

Imperial Agents Codex leaks all over the place.
Doesn’t sound fantastic TBH. As a nascent Sisters collector I thought this could be a cool way to get 2 armies together but only the Battle Sisters, Rhino and Immolator (and I guess technically that priest with the flamer) are able to come in. Plus they’ve taken miracle dice off the Battle Sisters.
Deathwatch seem to have been done a real dirty with basically 95% of their available models removed from the game. They already had the most shit Combat Patrol ever. I don’t love the DW models as is personally, I (ducks) think First Born models often don’t fit in well with the current range and they always look physically imbalanced with the weird weapons too.
However, it’s never a good feeling when a faction gets nuked. I guess in this case it’s possibly likely led by sales data, but I’m sure if the Combat Patrol wasn’t just Intercessors with shoulder pads and they’d actually made it Death Watch it might have caught on a bit as a starter kit for new players, particularly if there was a refresh on the horizon. Deathwatch should be brought back properly because they are established in lore and could be cool with a range refresh.
The Malleus stuff - I think Grey Knights are cool AF as models and as a concept, but we don’t know whether they are yet to be primarisized during the same edition - so the temptation to grab that box falls absolutely flat.
Looks like whatever army is cobbled together using an Agents banner is going to get tabled by the first opponent to bring a couple of light tanks.
I’m going to buy the book because I decided to collect all of those this edition but I think that’s about it.
