I think I may have been at that filming for craigy's challenge. They filmed a load of stuff that day, most notable Vic Reeves being shit at Sleepwalker and Dominic Diamond falling down the stairs in a widow twankee outfit.

That's a very cool story, gremmi. The closest I got was GamesMaster Live at the NEC, where Dom took the stage and swore at the audience. Good times.
When I worked for CITV, I was desperate to get more games coverage on the telly. It's something the BBC does really well, talking to kids about their interests, but aside from producing a kind of "Movies, Games, and Videos" type feature, I couldn't get any traction with the powers-that-be. So I'm always really excited to see more gaming TV, whatever form it takes (and I loved Go 8-Bit).

Were you up in the gallery bit? In my head that place was absolutely cavernous but I bet it was actually quite pokey. |

Yeah, up in the gallery somewhere. Went with my dad and a few mates, it was...interesting. Mostly just standing in the cold waiting for things to happen. Did go to Gamesmaster Live as well, but my overriding memory is a group of surly youths aggressively hogging the free play arcade section.

That makes perfect sense as casting choice somehow. Thinking about it, him and Patrick Moore both kind of sound the same, at least in terms of pitch and tone. Plus they share the same sort of status, coming from respectable fields and lampooning themselves as the GamesMaster. I like it.

I can see McDonald working.
I guess the worry is you cast too far from Moore’s old man persona and people say you’ve betrayed the spirit of the show but by going close will people be upset that he’s just not Moore and ends up doing an imitation of the character.
I think they’re making the right moves. I’m a lot more confident than when I heard Diamond on RHLSTP

The GamesMaster himself has been cast... Sir Trevor McDonald! That's horrifyingly perfect casting. He basically looks exactly like Sir Patrick Moore except black and is just as out-of-touch. I hope he has similarly ludicrous CGI applied. |

This sounds like it might actually work. I can't think of better casting. McDonald is suitably round-faced and Rab is great.
Even us dirty RPSers know him from his Cardboard Children column there... which didn't have *that* many dick jokes.

It'll work about as well as the Games Guru on Gamezville. Always found it odd people sent in asking for advice when they could just Google it. Made obsolete now by the fact that theres video playthroughs to show you what to do.
