Waiting on the 48C2 to drop back to £799 like it did on Black Friday - currently the same price as the 42 at the minute.
Shame I can't fit the 55" anywhere as it seems to be the sweet spot for price.

I had to go for a 48CX instead of the 55CX due to space restrictions, which was particularly painful as the 55CX was cheaper at the time.
I find the only downside to the 48" is that films can look a little small letterboxed in 2.39:1 cinema aspect. I wish new films were streamed at 16:9 so the entire screen is used, especially films that are exclusive to streaming. Even things like The Mandalorian are heavily letterboxed. Baffling.

I’ll be literally using mine as a 4:3 retro monitor for the most part so I have the opposite problem

I genuinely thought the QD-OLEDs would dominate this year but if LG are going down, they’re going down swinging. LG G3/C3 sounding very good here.

I got a refurb HT-A9 on the 'cheap' this week.
Not properly set it up yet but from a quick play with the speakers on boxes and in sub optimal positions, I'm impressed.
Main issue now is the wife acceptance factor which has plummeted after seeing how big the speakers are. They aren't massive or anything. Roughly like 2 Sonos Ones stacked on top of each other.
Anyway does anyone know of some very slim line speaker brackets? Think I need to get them close to the wall to make them seem smaller.

How much were they refurbished? I was very close to pulling the trigger on them before xmas but yeah I knew the size would be an issue once I saw them in the flesh, went for a gradual Sonos approach instead.

£1099 so pretty substantial discount. Frankly I couldn't justify full price for what is essentially a big boys toy. I got a bonus at work and this is a treat for myself.
Running the cables for a traditional 5.1.2 is prohibitive in our new house so I sold my old setup some time ago and that has also part funded this. The clever processing and flexible positioning make it a unique proposition in home theatre sector so I'm keen to make this system 'work' for the missus.
Looking on HUKD they've gone for as little as £949 in the past. Maybe that one was grade B though.

A mate of mine had big issues with the A9 and ultimately sent them back (constant interference to one of the speakers - but when sent back for repairs they claimed nothing wrong). Hope yours fares better!

Yeah I'd read about reports of this. They use 2.4G for wireless so your home network can interfere. For people used to 'plug and play, set and leave' and with their broadband hotspot in the same room, it's not hard to envisage issues.
When you get it, the basestation even has a sticker on saying move it at least 1.5m from your broadband AP so they've probably had loads of complaints.
So far doesn't seem an issue for me, by just maintaining line of sight.
I've upgraded to Ubiquiti at home recently so I've got pretty granular control of my APs to avoid interference if it's required.

Good price. I'd have bitten for that. Getting a bonus this month too, will see how the new atmos Sonos rears look.

Just stuck some music on and had it coming out of the centre speaker. Eeesh, that didn't sound good.

I love listening to music on my surround set - with music coming from the sides too. Really feels like I am in the music!

I flip flop between stereo and 5. surround for music. It's sort of the difference between a live show sound and recording. I find a lot of older stuff has more depth through the surround.

I find it too distracting (this was just the centre in movie mode, not surround). Stereo only for me!

I've got a trial of '360 Reality' audio with the setup. It's basically just high bitrate streaming with a proper 360 mix as opposed to post processing.
The live stuff is genuinely really good. Very engaging. Standard studio recordings are still good but not got the same impact.
I won't be paying £20 a month for a Tidal subscription after the trial though.

Costco are offering an additional 10% off selected LG TVs. I've seen the prices some of you got yours for so I'm tempted to wait it out until the Easter sales at Currys, JL ect but currently with the 10% offer the 42" C2 would be just over £853

I watched that video the other day. I was surprised it showed Sony TVs are far more susceptible to burn-in than LG, and one of their Samsung TVs simply died.

Yeah I watched that the other day as well. Makes for interesting viewing but ultimately I think owners of both technologies or any of the brands can sleep easy at night.
Unless you watch CNN 18 hours a day that is...

Yeah, also watched it a few days ago. The Samsung QD-OLED dying is just unlucky, I wouldn’t expect it to be a major flaw across multiple sets.
I was pretty convinced that the QD-OLEDs would be the TVs to beat but I’d be looking at a G3 if I was upgrading this year. It’s brighter than all of the TVs from previous years due to the MLA tech so you have no major worries about bright rooms, it has all the LG gaming tech which is top of the class, they have excellent PQ and colour (I don’t like the over-vibrance of Samsung, and when you colour correct you lose basically all of their brightness anyway), perfect blacks and excellent contrast because OLED, and it supports Dolby Vision. They’ve also removed the auto-dimming on dark scenes issue via a recent firmware update, and that’s the only real issue I have with my current model. The only immediate negative that I can think of is reflection handling, because they like their glossy screens, but any direct light source will be problematic to some degree regardless.

Far as I know it’s only this year, but I haven’t looked into it. I bought a service remote and “fixed” the issue by turning it off in the settings, but they’ve changed the service menu in the ‘23 models so you can no longer access that setting.

Yeah it's just the 3 series models, which is just as well because as Derbs mentions, you can't fix the issue with a service remote on those.
Wouldn't mind a fix for the X and 1 series TV's myself, I really should just take the plunge on the service remote, never got round to it.
I used Zwift on the CX the other day, borderline comical how much that dimmed the screen after a while, despite my avatar zipping around ever moving Scottish countryside. It was literally almost completely black at one stage, I couldn't reach the remote to snap the TV out of it because I was in the middle of a race and dying a death.

Yeah I just ended up buying a service remote in the end for my CX, but I've voided my warranty now. I just couldn't take the auto-dimming, ruined far too many viewing experiences for me to ignore it any longer. An official firmware fix would be nice though.

I'm really tempted by a Samsung q990b soundbar at the minute. Been a while since I updated y receiver and going over ARC with DD introduces a fair bit of lag which impacts on games more than I'd like.
Anyone here got a similar fancy dolby atmos soundbar setup? I know the above mentioned A9 is a bit of a beast but it's also not really a like for like comparison from what I uderstand.

I may do that once my warranty has expired but it doesn't bother me that much at the moment.

Same. I’ve only noticed it during some games, Harry Potter bring the worst culprit. But never when watching films or tv etc.
Obviously I still want to get a service remote and void my warranty though.

Can they check if that "feature" was ever turned off in the past? If not, why not simply turn it back on again before sending it in for repairs?

Vincent has the HDTVTest G3 review up. Sounds like a winner, with only a few minor dings against it (the most notable of which is poorer performing onboard sound than previous models).
Samsung’s S95C will be releasing late April, so we’ll see how that one compares later, but other than getting even brighter I don’t really see how anything else will matter all that much in real world viewing. Of course, it may well be cheaper at larger sizes, which will make a difference for the general public that just want a nice looking TV.
