Resident Evil live service looter shooter here we come! Wasn't Operation Raccoon City much more successful than anyone expected? I guess we are lucky they decided to go for RE7 instead of following up on that (I guess RE6 helped). I thought it bombed. Hard.

It did. It was horrendous. Did anyone try Re:Verse? There's something that doesn't need to exist. Funnily enough, it's actually really difficult to find and install it in the first place, almost like Capcom don't want you to play it. It's awful.

I saw some guy on twitch playing it, it looked terrible.

Demo played. Its fine or, at least, its exactly what you’d expect this section would be in the RE Engine. I don’t think it’ll be a day one for me, probably a sale purchase down the line based on this. Same as Wunty RE4 was never my Resi so, even though it obviously influenced the remakes of 2 and 3 and the setting of Village, the gameplay here still doesn’t grab me like any of those did.
Of all the RE Engine games, from this tiny slice anyway, its the first to just feel like a graphics polish for an old game. Obviously still an RE Engine game and that makes it objectively well made and realised, it just hasn’t given me what would make me rush out and buy a ‘new’ game in the franchise.

I should probably give the demo a go, as I don't have a very good recent track record with third person resi games... Never clicked with RE2 remake after trying it a couple of times, and I bounced off RE4 pretty hard due to the controls when I tried playing it recently. 5 is probably the last one I've played all the way through.
I'm also a bit worried that it'll be too long if they haven't cut anything. Something like Dead Space was the perfect length for me.
£50 at TGC's eBay store including the DLC and lenticular sleeve, though...

Dead Space and RE4 are the same length though, about 16 hours I find.
I don’t get the people who think RE4 is too long. Every moment of it is perfect, even that shitty boulder-run quick-time thing.

Its probably worth remembering just how short the PS1 era games were in that regard. How Long To Beat has them all between 6-7 hours long and it was possible to do an RE2 scenario in 2 if you knew what you were doing.
Plus they all focussed on exploring relatively contained locations (mansion, police station, lab) whereas RE4 had you constantly pushing on through more and more locations so it always felt big. As well as being more than double the length of its predecessors.
Even the other RE Engine games and REmake are all 10-12 hours tops so 16 would still make 4 the longest game in the series anyone cares about.

It's all the roundhouse kicking and shit. I hate it. When this was announced I honestly hoped they would do away with some of the more ludicrous elements.

Love the original RE4, it's probably one of my favourite games.
Tried playing it again recently and I was shocked to find that it instantly started testing my patience from the get go with controls that made me want to throw my control pad through the nearest window.
Playing through this demo is kind of how I remember it though, i.e not ball achingly annoying to control and play. So I'd say job well done on updating it in that case.

aubergine I'm talking about the dead space remake, which was under 12 hours for me and that was perfect for this kind of game imo. Curious to see this turn up on howlongtobeat, but I'd imagine somewhere around 16+ hours.

I love RE4, I’ve probably completed it over a hundred times starting with the original GameCube version and all the other ports too (except for the stinky PC version if there is one)
I really hope that the Chicago Typewriter is included in this one

Quite enjoyed that demo even if it's way too bloody short. You really need to keep on top of enemy positions in the village as they're constantly sneaking up behind you for a cheeky grab. The updates to the hunters lodge are great, Hunnigan's intro works really well too. So much better than the MGS style calls! All aboard the hype train for me, anyway.
My only real complaint is how long you have to mash X to get out of a hold.

I’m not going to play the demo, I’ve got the full game on order already Need to finish Elden Ring first but I’m super bored of it

There are a few things you can interact with, such as locked drawers, but probably have no way to find the necessary keys in the demo. There is also one wall with an Ashley icon. I guess they didn't bother to remove that just for the demo. By the way, I must have run it too many times. My Steam counter is at 4 hours. And my new gold record is 10.150, nice. Need to finish Elden Ring first but I’m super bored of it You just reminded me... what I hate most about Elden Ring is that, while open world games usually let you skip the sidequests and just blast through the story once you're tired of them, Elden Ring in its end game has such powerful bosses that you really need to explore a lot just to be leveled enough to take on them.

I disliked this when I originally played it. I got to the castle and thought that was absolute dogshit.
I'll play the demo and see how I feel, but I'm not too hopeful.

You cunts are just trolling now aren't you? Haha I genuinely wish I was, as I love Resident Evil. I think part of it is the enemy design. Not a fan of the plagas. Old school enemy types are the best. Zombies, Lickers, Tyrants/Nemesis. Except for giant moths. They should be erased from existence/spoiler]
Who cares about some long neck farmer tramp?

I did like OG RE2 more but RE4 was still amazing. I did miss Zombies though.
Now RE2 remake is probably the best one. It's perfect.

The aiming is fucking awful, not sure how you can argue it isn't really.
Might have to download the pc version to see if it's better on keyboard and mouse.

I was pulling headshot after headshot on PC. Compared to original RE4, it feels so much easier to aim. It might be the 60fps though. I tried the demo on my laptop too, just for kicks, and it could only keep a stable framerate at 30fps... and suddenly I wasn't so good at pulling headshots anymore.

I have Nemesis too, might stick that on at some stage. The design of the Nemesis really struck a chord with me for some reason when I played it originally
