NG+ is hidden behind the one up from standard.
Shitty practice but easy enough to ignore for me. I never touched NG+ in the last one, my 100 odd hour save for the Platinum gave me everything I wanted out of it so easy enough to pretend it doesn't exist again.

Yeah, seems odd, but not a mode I ever used and recent trophy sets tended to avoid NG+ only modes too.

It was the same in the original Japanese release of 7 but they included it in the International version as released in the West. It doesn't affect Premium Adventure so if you just go for that then you're still fine with the base.

I never touch NG+ on any game let alone something ad big as a LAD game. But shitty for those who enjoy it, they shouldn't be forced to pay more for a basic feature. Seen it happen a fair amount more in other games too, Robocop doesn't have NG+ for example. Kind of the publishers indirectly telling the consumer, fuck off our game is worth more than standard retail price, pony up more cash

Teyon are working on new game plus for Robocop! That's good to hear! I was trying to make a point that NG+ is something not important enough to include for the initial release

Yeah quite a few now work on it after the games out. Robocop, spiderman 2 and Alan Wake 2 being some recent examples. This might be the great to lock it behind a special edition?

I can't imagine why anyone would want to replay a Yakuza game in Ng+, when I'm done with it I couldn't imagine sitting through all the cutscenes again.
I'm the same with any Ng+ for the most part though.

In the past there were achievements for finishing the game on the highest difficulty, which only unlocked once you cleared the story. There used to be missable stuff too but they've gotten rid of that as well.

It is definitely shitty but it's also supposedly the biggest game they've ever done, so the last thing I could think of doing is hitting the NG+ button after finishing it.
Really looking forward to this, got the Friday booked off work and everything and I blasted through the previous game over the last fortnight or so to refresh my memory.

I can't imagine replaying LAD on new game plus as the game was massive (and some forced grinding at 2 points) but its really shitty of Sega to hide NG+ behind some more money edition (sure hardcore fans would of NG+ like a dragon) I think Sega is trying to find what they can get away with, next game could be premiumn adventure mode and Sega could say "well only 40% of players use it and costs money to add it"

Guess it's up to people where they are willing to draw the line. If it were Premium Adventure behind the paywall, I'd probably have fucked it off as I got a good chunk of my enjoyment in the endgame of the last one. NG+ is something I personally very rarely touch on a game though.
Seems to be getting enough stick from various sources that they might think twice in future.

As mentioned before if you wanted to get all the trophies in previous games you would have to have beaten it on NG+. Assuming as they've locked it past the special editions, I'm gonna assume it's the same as Gaiden where you can get all achievements on one playthrough. Might perhaps explain why they thought NG can be locked away. That is, assuming you can. If you still have to beat it on NG+ for the trophy, then it can get messier.
Haven't exactly been covering themselves in too much glory promoting it here, they got a famous streamer to play the game who didn't like the series and is one of the most toxic fanbases around.

I can't think of a game I have finished on Ng+ other than elden ring and that was far too easy so it wasn't as much fun.

How does daytona 2 play in the new one? I’m considering getting it just for that.

Devil May Cry and Resident Evil games are ones I go back for NG+. Think it just comes down to how short the experience is. RPG's I would not consider unless they added new content within it like new bosses or something.

I don't bother with NG+ either - except in FromSoft games - but this still seems like pretty scummy behaviour.
Sega own Atlus as well, right? Persona 3 Reload is less than a fortnight away, and it's already hitting the headlines for having about £20 worth of day one DLC.
As someone pointed out in the Push Square comments section, you can't spell Sega without EA.

I did the platinum in Yakuza Like a Dragon and it was a one playthrough deal, just doing Premium Adventure stuff after. Think it was about 120 hours or so, so the idea of NG+ after that was the stuff of fantasy.

Moderately moist.
Just need to push through the towards end game difficulty spikes/grind of YLAD and I’m ready…

Hmmm, lutting NG+ behind a more expensive version is one thing. But putting a bunch of karaoke songs including Baka Mitai behind the most expensive version is really some nonsense

Just need to push through the towards end game difficulty spikes/grind of YLAD and I’m ready… Was so much better playing through it a second time recently and knowing where to do a quick bit of grinding. They really should have made the Sotenbori battle arena mandatory for what comes directly after it opens up.

But putting a bunch of karaoke songs including Baka Mitai behind the most expensive version is really some nonsense It's playing the karaoke tracks as background music that is locked not the karaoke mini-game itself. Think like the background music in Survive from Y:LaD
