No idea how people are beating it in 20 hrs. You must be powering through main quest stuff. I'm 10 hrs in and only at start of chapter 2. All the side activities still have a hold over me. I think I'm getting better at mahjong and oicho-kabu, but fuck trying to make sense of shogi. Same, I'm only on Chapter 2 and have played over 10 hours and I'm loving it. I'm messing about playing mini games, looking for collectibles (without a guide) and doing some side quests, only occassionally nudging the main story along so I can easily see this taking me 50+ hours. I'm savouring every minute as this might be the last Kiryu standalone game we get so I want to enjoy it whilst it lasts.

The main thing is that once things open up a bit you kind of get almost everything you're going to get - it's not like earlier games where you get a lot of new substories per chapter. For reference, the game clock said 7.5 hours at the end of chapter 2, 13 at chapter 3 and 18 at the end of chapter 4.
I did all the substories, most of the Akame network tasks (got up to level 29 of 30), all of the arena and upgraded Kiryu fully. I didn't really touch cabaret, Pocket Circuit or the gambling. I've spent a couple of hours messing about with the demo for 8 as well. The combo of that demo and the climax to the game made me really want to get back into 7 to be honest!

Completed it just now and man story was great but pretty much all the side missions were meh, sure they did the haunted apartment and turns out to be a killer before in one of the games? A lot of the side quests was beat up some gang and the random fetch quests for people where dull and boring
They can't do a Gaiden type game each year as they need time to do better side quests. Might do more of the fights and try the pocket racing
Big spoiler for the end Kiryu getting upset over the video was sad and rare moment for his character although the dub version of that scene is going to be so badly voiced and acted

Played through first chapter (and intro) and enjoyed so far. Quick dabble at arcades too. My disc has the demo, seemingly in the patch I had to download day 1 (which is unusual for a Yakuza game, especially a 12GB one). When I get a day off wort I will give it a proper go.

It's in two folders on the PC - the game's about 60 or so and the demo's another 20-25 from memory.

I don't think the dub's in the main game yet, they mentioned a delay. In the demo of 8 it opens with a box asking if you want Japanese, English or Chinese voices.

Thanfully no dub yet for Gaiden, it should be optional download. I don't want junk files on my harddrive

I personally can't wait for English Baka Mitai. I know it's been done in 7 and it was fine, actually sung kinda well. But with this Kiryu, oh boy.

I've just got around to playing Judgment for the first time. For some reason I thought since this was a spin off series it wouldn't be as good. But I actually think it's better? At least in some ways. There's a lot more interaction baked into the main quests. Admittedly some of this is very basic such as choosing the right key to unlock a door, but others such as dialogue options and crime scene investigations give you much more of a sense of involvement in the story. The antagonist is great and I'm liking the main story and most of the cast. The main character hasn't quite clicked with me yet but he's growing on me, and has an interesting backstory. Action scenes have been kick ass so far (the chase with the skateboard was purely a 12 year old boy's idea of cool and I'm here for it). Side quests are as stupid and funny as ever. Should have played this ages ago!

Edit - and if you get Lost Judgment the season pass is worth getting too (on sale at least as I dislike the idea of season passes but this was good)

Gaiden dub is out. I don't hate it but it's early doors, just played half an hour - end of chapter 1
I need to acclimatise cos I'm used to the english voices for Ichiban + friends

Of course there are fans that are being gatekeepers about it saying there should NEVER be an English dub. Which is ridiculous, it does bring in more people to the series. I'm not going to look until I beat Gaiden, I'm just more curious to see what the karaoke sounds like. Autotuned Baka Mitai

Autotuned Baka Mitai English dub is fine (i think the LAD dub got new fans tothe series) but not how they slaughtered Kiryu, insert godfather meme of look what they did to my boy.gif

I'm happy for there to be a dub. I'm just not going to listen to it.

I've always fancied the Yakuza series and I've just noticed they're all on Gamepass! So, where do I start - with Yakuza 0? Or is that too obvious?

Ibhad a quick listen to the new dub and Joryu's voice is dire. The rest are the usual mixed standard but there is no way I could play that way. I forget how the original Y1 dub was though as it was ablong time ago. I am getting ready to finish final chapter of game (back to Japanese dub of course) after S ranking all the cosseum fights and finishing Pocket Racer (and Akame network is done). Amon put of the way too, I think it will be my first Yakuza/Like a Dragon platinum as most require an extra hard mode playthrough or something really time consumingly grindy (on aboutb35 hours in this). Then I will finally get to try the 8 demo...

I got a lot of things done so that only the coliseum matches and four Kings are left. Assume you need to level up the crew to their highest level to stand a chance, seems a bit mad to have multiple enemies with 30 health bars on a 3 min time limit. But I put in the time and finished the story. That's prob the best ending they've ever done and it makes me so excited for Infinite Wealth. They gotta give Kiryu a happy ending please, the man's gone through so much. I think it might be a good way to tie off by making Ichiban be his kyodai, something he's been missing since Nishikiyama. And what better person to have in your corner backing you up than Ichiban. Maybe it will give him some happiness. But given the reveal that he has cancer, maybe he wont get the happy ending with the kids after all.

The 3rd King fight was the hardest and needed aome levelling up and I us3d all golds bar 1 healer IIRC, but it didn't take too long to do.

Putting some time in last night and I actually got past that one and everything else and have now got the Platinum. The final boss wasn't as scary as made out to be, bar a couple of nonsense mechanics. With a fully upgraded Kiryu and all the gear dedicated to attack, plus all your health items, it wasn't even the hardest fight for me, done it in 2 attempts.

Finished Judgement. Wow! It was so good. Easily the best story and cast of supporting characters of all the RGG games I've played so far (0-6 and LAD). The friends system was engaging, it gives you more incentive to wander around Kamurocho and speak to people, visit every restaurant, etc. Side quests were strong too, many forming little plotlines of their own that run over multiple parts and sometimes lead to romance (though admittedly I found two of the four potential relationships a bit creepy). The final courtroom scene stretched credulity a bit but the end boss fight was epic.
My second favourite in the series after 0, I think. Looking forward to the sequel.

Both Judgment games are very good. It is also worth getting the season pass (or at least the Kaito Files) for Lost Judvment, even if I do wish it had been on disc...
Wonder if we are getting a third game announced this year with rumours of an RGG Studio big announcement.

I can't believe Ichiban turned out to be Kiryu's long-lost brother.
