The plots/endings to all these ‘event’ ones have been absolutely nonsensical.

Yeah got to say they really don't give a fuck about the plot. There's no rules or structure to the universe.
The Tardis suddenly shoots anti-volcano lasers, Daleks are vulnerable to baseball bats. It's all just so lazy that nothing matters because "magic".
It's the first one I've watched in a long time and I've no desire to see any more.

The Flux series was good but there is a bit of a sense that the storytelling for the finales and specials (going back to Tennant’s era) is told in the style of a 9 yr old boy reciting the plot of three different films simultaneously in a single unbroken sentence while their mum is trying to do the dishes. Which to be fair, is the target audience.

It was like a dozen ideas shoved in a blender and out came a thing that was quite enjoyable to watch but really don't think too hard about it. It made as much sense as Moonfall.
Thank fuck the Chibnall era is over.

This era, more than any other, I’ve found myself like Scott Evil shouting ‘just shoot her’ at the TV.
His plan could have been more easily achieved by shooting her in the head, blasting her into the sun and just saying ‘I’m the doctor’ to people, something he could have just done anyway.

I never bothered watching the NYE one or the Easter one. Didn't even realise there was one on last night. Flux finally killed off DW for me. It was so monumentally pish that I just can't find it in me to watch any more.

I have a weird feeling his first thought as he wrote the script was "I really like Boney M and trains I'll work from there."

It was funny that they clearly wanted an Ex Machina ‘get down Saturday night’ moment but the master couldn’t/wouldn’t dance.

I quite enjoyed that fwiw. It was good fun, complete nonsense but good fun. I suppose if you're a frothing neckbeard you'd probably be quite upset that they just seem to be making any old shit up with no regard for the lore or the rules of the whoniverse, but if you just like a bit of wibbly wobbly timey wimey fun on a Sunday evening it was perfectly fine.

Or it could be that it's always been a children's show that we've finally outgrown.

I hope history is kind to Whittaker. As a performer she’s genuinely only behind Tennant as a post-revival Doctor for me despite everyone being very vocal about their dislike for her seasons in other places online.
To be honest, I think most of whats been highlighted as flaws in her series are true of all the other modern Doctors. Plus its a show about a space wizard aimed mostly at older junior school children, sometimes you just need to let it wash over you and enjoy the ride.

I think I gave Jodie Whittaker's Doctor a season then dropped off but what I did see I liked her in the role, I just didn't like the writing/stories. Such a shame she couldn't carry on for a while with a better showrunner.

53 minutes into this tedious shit. I really hope the next era of Who gets somehow back on track.
When Ace pulled out her jacket and baseball bat I threw up in my mouth I think. Good Who is ridiculous, but bad Who is fucking ridiculous.
edit
okay limped to the finish line, and can now read that everyone else hated it too. To me it suffered all the problems of Flux crammed into a single episode yet still outstayed its welcome. Shapeless shit, just utterly terrible writing.
The real tragedy is I’m genuinely unsure if Whittaker could have been a good Doctor because she was with the same creative team the whole time, and I’m pretty sure it was the show runner. I honestly think every single shot of this was some kind of callback to some previous episode, previous doctor, previous companion, and it was as hamfisted and trite as Day of the Doctor was good.
Nice callback with Tennant’s teeth though at least.

I liked it and seeing Ace and the Dr again was good fun.
Just a shame we have to wait a year to see the tenth and miss Noble again.

It did do something I didn't expect, actually made me think about Adric's stupid and pointless death for the first time in years. He was still a twat.

The thing I find frustrating is that it could be a prestige show, aimed at all ages, but the BBC can't afford that financially or creatively. It has to be a kids show.
I really want a non-canon tv movie timeline, with Tilda Swinton as The Doctor set in the 1970s/far future.

I didn't really understand any of that. The Master's big plan was to transfer himself into the Doctor's body, making it look exactly like his old one, then tell everyone he's The Doctor while doing bad stuff? What? Why did he deface all the paintings? What was the point of the Dalek with a conscience? In fact, why did any of the stuff that happened, happen? It just felt like a bunch of unconnected random things occurring.

It does sort of make sense when you factor in all the other bollocks. Unless I've missed or glossed over some salient point, the Doctor is functionally immortal having unlimited regenerations while the Master is just your run of the mill genetic knock off who will die at some point, so it does follow that he'd merge their regenerations to take advantage of that. Also, just pretending to be the Doctor wouldn't cut it, because any of the actual Doctors could just turn up and say "He's not the Doctor, he's a very naughty boy", but this way it can't technically be denied, and also because of the only when it suits them for story reasons "I can't travel into my own timeline".

The Master being Rasputin and mind controlling Czar Nicholas II and his family was such a deep and meaningful plot point.

The Dalek traitor seemed odd, why? HOW? The could have just had the quiz show man finding the daleks and calling the doctor without all the bollocks, I mean he was there anyway. I did like it though, it was fun

It would definitely be interesting to see how many post-2k episodes end with The Destruction Of The Daleks.

The Master being Rasputin and mind controlling Czar Nicholas II and his family was such a deep and meaningful plot point. “I had this idea to use the song Rasputin for some reason, so made him actual Rasputin, and then The Master would dance around in a way that would have been racist if you think too hard about it.” Except from “Fuckhead: The Chris Chibnall Story”

The BBC and Disney + have done a big deal regarding Doctor Who. Disney+ gets worldwide premieres outside of UK.
Hopefully that will mean there's more cash available.

How does this benefit Disney? There can't be much appetite for it outside of Britain

I think its surprisingly big in Australia and the US
Plus they seem to have a friendly relationship with BBC Worldwide for distributing and broadcasting childrens shows and FX programmes already so it could be part of wider cooperation.

Disney want content to expand the Disney+ offering, they know there's an audience for it and it probably wasn't that expensive to pick up.
